Chapter One

Everything was getting blurry.

He wanted to scream, call out for help.

Anything to stop what was happening.

But he couldn’t take a breath.

It was getting dark.

  Why was this happening?

Sean Hopple woke up that morning feeling the same as usual, bored. He dressed in his normal bland clothing, nothing to striking but at least it fit his personality. After getting ready he headed down stairs to grab a quick breakfast, saying hi and bye to his busy parents. Only receiving a slight nod from one and a non communal grunt from the other. Neither looked up from their tasks as their only son left for school.

Just another day of school for Sean, nothing exciting. No relationship drama or getting in trouble for talking in class. He hung out with a few different people out side of school, but he’d talk to them in between classes, sometimes.

Sean was doing just that, standing by his locker talking with some random buddies, when the strange boy caught their attention. His name was Quinn something, and he always seems to be in a conversation with himself. Like now. He was sitting on the ground by his locker it seemed, staring up talking to no one inparticular.

“Man that kid is a freak.” His one pal John stated.

“Yeah, like why doesn’t he get some friends instead to talk to?” John’s dimwitted girlfriend, Sally, asked.

“Uh, maybe ’cus he’s a freak and nobody want to be his friend?” Chris, the last buddy near him, said in a ‘duh’ voice. “Any way, you guys wanna go bummin’ tonight?”

The others nodded quickly, then Chris turned to Sean. “What about you?”

“Sure.” He had nothing better to do. Maybe a little entertainment will help liven things up.

After school finally ended, Sean made his way home. When he got inside, dropped is bag and moved into the living room, he was surprised to see his mother was actually home.

“Hey, ma.” he said, shocked.

“Hello.” She replied, distracted by something as usual.

“Uh, I’m going out with some guys from school.”

“Yeah, sure.” He didn’t ask a question but this was normal. Sean wondered if his parents actually hear him, or just respond with something when they think it is necessary. Oh, well.

Making his way up stairs, he quickly got ready, making it back down again just in time to hear Chris honk the horn.

The three boys, and girl, drove around aimlessly for a while, stopping every now and then to do donuts in some random field or parking lot. After a while Chris started to swerve and take fast corners just for the heck of it.

They had just swerved left when a dog jumped out onto the road. Chris jerked the wheel right quickly to avoid it. So quickly that none of the others in the car had time to brace themselves.

Sean’s head hit the side window with such force it cracked, causing him to black out with the impact.

The last thing he remembered was hearing the sad sound of a boy crying, but not of someone he knew.

When he came to, Sean was in a hospital bed.

“Oh good, your awake,” a nurse said while looking over some charts.

“W-what happened?” Sean replied after clearing his throat.

“You hit your head pretty good on your friend’s passenger window. Seems you passed out from the blow. You do have a minor concussion it seems, but other then that you are good as gold. If you have any nausea or dizziness please to don’t hesitate to come back in.”

After filling out his info and signing some papers, Sean was free to go. Never did see his parents. Sean briefly thought they might not have been called, but he figured they probably would be too busy to care anyway. Oh well.

He followed the Doctor and nurse’s orders but felt fine the rest of the night, aside from a sore head that is.

When school came the next day, Sean was ready for the routine to follow through, feeling just as well as usual.

Classes went off without a hitch. His buddies did ask how he was quickly as they passed by him in the hall. He was heading to his locker to get his next book, when something strange caught his eye. Sean watched as the Quinn kid scurried down the hall as usual, but this time he actually had company to talk to.

‘Wow,’ he thought, ‘must not be too freaky if he made a friend.’

just as Sean finished that thought, a kid rushed passed Quinn. Running straight THROUGH the other boy. Rubbing his eyes, Sean figured he must be imagining things. Maybe the concussion did harm something. He opened them in time to see a football player pass a ball to his buddy right through the boy.

“What is going on with me?” He continued to stare.

The boy caught his eye and gave him an odd look, turning to whisper something to Quinn. Quinn’s eyes snapped to Sean’s and then back to the other boy, confused and curious. The strange boy turned back towards Sean and waved. Sean, of course, waved back, he is not rude or anything.

Both boys jumped and quickly ran towards him. Quinn grabbed him arm and pulled Sean to a private-ish corner of the school. He was surprisingly strong.

“Your Sean right?” Quinn asked quickly.

“Uh, yeah. And your Quinn?”

Quinn nodded jerkily and hurried with his next thought. “Who were you just waving at?”

Sean gave him an obvious look, “Your friend here, duh. He waved at me remember?” He pointed to the boy behind Quinn as he spoke.

The shocked look on their faces concerned him.

“You can see me?” The boy asked, in a strangely familiar voice. Sean knew he had never seen the boy before, however.

“Uh, Yeeaaahh. Are you new?”

“Sean, he’s not new, he’s dead.” Quinn stated, the other boy’s look grew dim.

“Your funny, he’s not dead, he is standing right there. The dead don’t go to school, that I am aware of.”

“No, he really is.” He said seriously. “This is a ghost Sean. One that only I could see, until now that is.”

[Comments please, I really what your opinions! Thanks, May<3]

Chapter Two

[Finally another chapter!  Sorry it took soooo long, way longer then thought, work and life just got crazy busy!  not the greatest but I hope you like it anyways!!!! May<3]

Chapter Two

His name was Quinn Fredricks, he was 16, and he had only one friend basically his entire life. The sad part is that his best friend cannot be seen by anyone else. However, sometimes Quinn felt this was a good thing, he never has to share. But usually it just made him seem strange to those around him.

Quinn’s friend wasn’t imaginary, like most young children he was simply a Ghost.

They meet when Quinn was 10 years old. He had been visiting his mother, a teacher at the time. He turned towards his mom’s room in the high school. It was dark now that all the kids were at home. The halls looked kind of scarey. Corridors looked longer and forbidding, classrooms were pitch black, seemingly hiding secrets.

Quinn was nervous trying to pretend like a big boy. He was trying so hard to act grown up that he nearly peed his pants when an older boy popped out of the wall. Thankfully he wasn’t a baby because peeing his pants would have made his mother angry.

Quinn never wanted to make his mom angry.

As Quinn righted his clothing, he couldn’t help but yell at the guy. Which was odd of him seen as he usually can’t speak a word when asked. He was very shy.

“You shouldn’t do that to people. Its not nice!”

The kid looked around mumbling to himself, “Who is this kid talking to?”

“What do you mean, are you joking with me?” Young Quinn couldn’t understand why this boy was acting so oddly.

“Are you talking to me?” The older boy asked. He pointed towards himself with one hand while the other moved to Quinn. It waved back and forth in front of his face as some might do to a blind person or someone spacing out. But Quinn wasn’t blind or spacing out.

This boy was so rude!

Quinn had reflexively closed his eyes when the hand neared him, a habit in grained with in him. Quinn made to push the offending hand away from him, but his slap meet nothing. The mean boy must have stopped then.

As he slowly opened his eyes, Quinn was met with a shocked face as well as his hand waving around, stirring what looked like smoke. Where did that come from? Is there a fire?! He couldn’t smell anything.

It took Quinn a moment to realize the boy’s hand was missing. He slowly stopped moving his hand and right before his eyes, a murky hand appeared.

Instead of running scared as most would have done, Quinn quickly became fascinated.

“Hi! I’m Quinn!”

“Hello, and um…I don’t know my name.”

“Well, you’re a ghost right?” At his nod, Quinn continued. “I’ll call you that!”

They became fast friends, both being lonely and in need of someone. Quinn, who was too shy and Ghost, who was now only seen by this small boy.

They talked almost everyday for hours. Sharing feelings and thoughts like any normal pairing of friends.

Its been almost seven years now since the two boys came together. The day was progressing normally, Quinn was telling Ghost about his annoying math teacher. They had an agreement, Ghost did not bother Quinn in class or in the bathroom. The class so that he can concentrate and well, the bathroom is pretty simple to guess.

“The guy is such a pain. Everyone thinks he is so awesome and cool, but he isn’t. He is always trying to be funny and act like our friend but never teaches us what we need to know!”

“Yeah, something bothers me about that teacher. I always hated him as well … I think.”

Quinn noticed his friends reaction. He was getting depressed again. This always happened when he tried to remember his past. Quinn wished there was some way to help him, but no matter what they tried Ghost remembered nothing before his death.

“Is it me or does it seem like that guy is staring at me?” Ghost asked hesitantly.

Quinn looked to the boy in question, Sean maybe? It did look like it. ‘Interesting’ Quinn thought.

“Well do something towards him and maybe we’ll find out.”

I doubt it, no one else ever has. It always ends up being someone behind me.” Ghost was getting down again.

“Hey, you never know. You found me remember?” Quinn gave a reassuring smile.

Ghost returned it easily. Quinn could always make him feel better.

He raised his hand and simply waved at the other boy.

They were both in for quite a shock when the boy waved back easily in answer.

“He can see me.” Ghost gasped.

They ran to him, excited beyond belief but still a bit unsure. Quinn had to make sure, positively, that this was real. He grabbed the boy and pulled him to the nearest secluded area.

“Your Sean right?” Quinn asked quickly.

“Uh, yeah, and your Quinn?”

Quinn was a little shocked the boy knew his name, but brushed it off and nodded quickly.

“Who were you just waving at?”

“Your friend here, duh, he waved at me, remember?” Sean pointed to Ghost, behind Quinn.

‘Oh, wow’ both boys thought.

“You can see me?” Ghost asked shakily.

“Uh, yeeaaaah. Are you new?”

“Sean, he’s not new, he’s dead.” Quinn knew he wasn’t being nice or conciderate to Sean or his friend, but his feelings of excitement, fear and concern for his best friend made it hard for him to be cautious.

“You’re funny. He’s not dead, he is standing right there. The dead don’t go to school that I’m aware of.” Sean joked, trying to pass it off as a silly prank.

“No, he really is. This is a ghost, Sean. One that only I could see. Until now that is.”

After spending the next few minutes before the bell with a shocked face, moving his hand in and out of Ghosts form, Sean finally decided to meet up with them after school.

[So any thoughts on who should play the boys? <3]

Chapter Three

[Finally, finally right?  Well Benji helped me with some of this, before he fell asleep anyway.  which i should be doing as well but i wanted to get this up for you all….since I promised it days ago… anywho, here it is, not very long like i hoped but Enjoy! <3]

Chapter Three

Sean walked to Quinn’s home with a weary pace. He had to be mistaken, they had to be pulling his leg or something. This was just too weird. Who even believes in ghosts nowadays anyway?

He double checked the address on his phone, Quinn had sent the text before he had a chance leave school. This made the only good excuse he could think of pretty impossible to pull off. Continuing down the street he noticed a dilapidated house. The Shutters were either hanging by single hinges or missing entirely. Where there was grass, it was in need to be cut but it was mostly dead from an obvious lack of care. The closer he came to the front door, the more certain he was that this is Quinn’s house.

No wonder the kid thought his friend was a ghost.

He walked up the sagging steps to the front door. Filled with uncertainty, he nervously knocked on the door only to feel the paint chip as his hand tapped at it. Sean hoped that his knock was quiet enough that the residents wouldn’t hear, giving him a reason to turn tail and run without losing his pride.

No such luck.

Quinn opened the door quickly, almost as if he had been waiting just on the other side.

“Good, you made it.”

“Yeah….” Sean didn’t see how this was good. Either he was being made fun of or he was nuts.

“Well come on. Ghost is waiting in my room. He wanted to greet you too, but I figured you were probably freaked enough as it is….” Quinn babbled the entire way to his room.

Sean couldn’t help but notice the inside of the house reflected its exterior. Faded and peeling wall paper, tiles cracked or missing in spots on the floor. Oddly enough, even though the décor was lacking in care and maintenance, the place was pretty clean. No dust bunnies and cob webs.

“….He might be pouting when we get in there, don’t worry though he’ll brighten up. We are pretty excited and nervous as well.”

Quinn opened the door to his bedroom, briefly wondering what was spawning this blabber mouth he had. He never talked this much. Thankfully his mom was out of the house doing some random thing or another. Quinn felt they needed no interruptions and he definitely did not want to deal with his mother today, or any day really.

Ghost rushed over as soon as the two other boys entered the room. The pouting no where to be seen.

Sean took a brief glance around the room, noticing the drastic change from the rest of the house. This room was perfectly put together. No damage to be seen, everything in its place and was very well cared for.

“Hey Sean.” Ghost said excitedly. Practically bouncing up and down.

‘Can ghosts bounce?’ Sean though randomly as the description of the other boy’s actions came to him.

“H-hey.”

“You still don’t think I’m really a ghost do you?”

“Well….I have a few doubts.”

’Like possibilities of a projection, smoke and mirrors….anything that wasn’t a ‘real ghost.’ Sean thought wearily to himself.

“Didn’t you get that out of you system in school? Or would you like put your hand through him some more?” Sean knew Quinn was only joking to lighten the mood but he still felt peeved. He had plenty of right to be cautious, this stuff doesn’t happen to him everyday!

“Hey, sorry, you can test all you what if it will help.” Quinn tried his best to make Sean more at ease. “Come on let’s just get comfortable and talk about ourselves for a while. Get to know each other.”

“Yeah, ok.” That seemed pretty normal of a thing to do in Sean’s eyes, and normal was what he needed right now.

They talked about nonsense for a while. About how Quinn and the ghost meet years ago, what teachers they liked and disliked. Even their favorite subjects in school. Quinn, it seemed like them all, while Ghost and Sean preferred English and History.

It was as though they grew closer with every passing hour. Soon, however, their reason for meeting came back into focus.

“But why can you see me now, if you didn’t before? That’s what I don’t get. I mean Quinn has seen me for years now.”

“I don’t know, maybe you’ve become a stronger entity?” That sounded lame to Sean’s ears. He knew nothing about the supernatural or paranormal. Only the movies he’d seen provided any incite.

“I don’t think so, if that’s the case why would only you see him. Has anything changed in your life recently?”

“Not really.”

Sean and Quinn started to search the web for any clues. Sean had literally just typed “seeing ghosts” into the search engine. The first few sites were basic ghost conspiracies and suspected hauntings, but soon he found something interesting.

“Well this could be it….” The two other boys came quickly to look at Sean’s laptop. “This site says that certain traumatic experiences and injuries to the head can cause paranormal sitings.”

“What does that mean?” Ghost asked curiously.

“A few days ago I was in a car with some buddies, and when the driver swerved to miss a dog or something I cracked my head off the window and blacked out. They said I got a minor concussion at the hospital. Then I came to school and see you the next day. That’s pretty coincidental if you ask me. I didn’t even think about it at first, I mean the Doc said I was fine.”

Quinn and Ghost shared a glance and agreed with Sean. It fit too perfectly to be anything but the cause.

Sean thought for a moment and then it dawned on him, if he could see the ghost because of that, then what happened to Quinn. The thought of something happening to the kid upset him a little. It was weird but he felt so comfortable with these two after just meeting them. Sean didn’t know why but he couldn’t deny it to himself.

It seemed Ghost had a similar though process because he soon asked, “Quinn, what was your traumatic experience or head trauma?” Ghost felt a little sad that he might not know about his best friend’s injury.

Quinn’s eyes grew dimmer, but he started in on his tail, “When I was 9 my father left my mom. He said he couldn’t take anymore of her crap and just walked out on us. I wasn’t really that upset because, well, I knew he wasn’t my real dad. My mom didn’t even know who that was.

“Well my mother had never been a very kind and caring person, but when he left her, she kind of, kind of freaked. She started cussing at me. Telling me that I wasn’t a good enough kid to keep my parents together. And when I told her he wasn’t really my parent, she-she started to beat me. Worse then any punishment I had had so far. She threw me against the walls and into furniture and….” Quinn swallowed thickly. Telling the story of the abuse’s beginning was difficult.

“And?” Sean ask softly. He did not like seeing this boy so sad.

“And, she threw me down the basement stairs. L-leaving me down there for a few hours.” Ghost gasped, he had never heard of this and he felt like he was about to cry. His poor Quinn had always suffered from his mother, but Ghost never knew it started so horribly.

“It was dark and damp and I could feel the blood oozing from my head when I finally came to. When my mother calmed down she brought me to the hospital, saying I tripped. I was too afraid to say anything and in too much pain. I ended up with a broken leg, two fractured ribs and a concussion. It was about three or four months later when I was well enough that I went to work with her, because no one could watch me. Then I met you.” Quinn gave a small smile to Ghost, reassuring his friend.

“You never told me….” Ghost still couldn’t put it out of his mind.

“I didn’t want you to know about it really. It hurt for me to think of it and it was bad enough that you saw it happen a few other times. I knew you got upset when you couldn’t help me. I didn’t want to put you through that any more then necessary. You are my best friend and I want you to be happy.”

Sean couldn’t help but feel moved by that. He knew his parents neglected him in a way and it hurt sometimes, but at least it was never physical. He looked closely at Quinn, taking in his dark hair and chocolate eyes. Quinn was a good looking kid really. He had such an awesome heart too it seemed, caring so intensely for his friends well being over his own.

Who would want to hurt him like that?

[Oh and If you haven’t seen our facebook page, Benji thinks Sean should be Liam Hemsworth (Logan’s brother for my Elite fans ;P) and Quinn by Andrew Garfield…..thoughts? <3]

Chapter Four

[here you go! The formatting and such may not be great idk because I did this all on my iPod! :O but I wanted to post it now because I had time and wanted you all to see I was a good girl today! Enjoy!!! Hugs and kisses, May<3]

Chapter Four

It was a bright and sunny day. Sean was walking around town, alone and bored but not lonely for once. He had a content feeling about him. Something about his new friends felt different then before. Like these ones will actually be real.

He was passing through the park when the sky started to grow dark.

“Shit.” Sean knew he was far from home. If it started to rain now he’d be soaked and probably catch a cold. He so didn’t want a cold right now. Who did?

He started to get a strange feeling. Almost as if some one was watching him. Sean turned to check, but saw nothing in the surrounding trees. However, the feelings only became worse as he continued.

Shivers made their way down his spine as the hairs on his arms and legs began to rise. Sean picked up his pace feeling silly for over reacting.

Then he heard it. Foot steps moving fast behind him. But still there was no one there.

As the steps came faster Sean began to run. Feet pounding the pavement he ran like never before. Turning a corner quickly Sean found himself in the school. Bright and shining it calmed him. Surely someone was here. Someone he could just sit with until this uneasy feeling left.

He checked the different doors but they all seemed to be locked for today. Not a teacher or office worker insight. With that realization Sean began to feel it again. Someone was watching.

Sean dashed off down the hall hoping to out run who ever it was. As he ran the school started to shift before his eyes. The floors grew dull, the walls started to crack and peel. The lockers started to rust, falling to the ground around him. The further he ran the darker it became.

Sean turned left and right trying to get away. The foot steps behind him were so loud now.

Sean darted to the right this time and came to a halt. There were no doors, no exits. No way out.

He turned around quickly but saw nothing. He was surrounded in darkness now.

“HELP! somebody help me! I’m lost!”

Sean jolted awake breathing heavily sweat dripping down his chest. That was a freaky dream. The last thing he said replying in his mind. ‘Help me, I’m lost.’

In a run down house across town a young boy sat watching helplessly as his best friend struggled in his sleep. He was breathing heavily now. Thrashing about, but there was nothing the boy could do. He couldn’t touch his friend physically. All he could do was yell, but it wasn’t working. His best friend

couldn’t hear him.

Quinn was lying in bed when Sean walked in smiling.

‘That’s a very nice look on him.’ Quinn thought.

“Let’s play a game,” Sean said randomly.

Quinn looked at him curiously, but replied, “Sure. What’s the game?”

Just then Sean jumped on top of Quinn. Startled Quinn could only stare as Sean’s mouth landed on his.

When Quinn came to his senses he tried to push Sean away to see what he was doing. They had only just met. He really liked Sean but this was still way too fast.

Sean wouldn’t budge though. No matter how hard he tried Quinn couldn’t get free. All of the sudden Sean leaned up looking into Quinn’s eyes, smiling that same smile as before.

Before Quinn could speak however, Sean’s smile began to morph into a sinister one. His facial features changed as well expanding and darkening to where Quinn no longer recognized the guy before him.

“S-Sean?” Quinn watched in horror as the being on top of him shook his head no.

The man’s hands moved to Quinn’s neck and began to tighten. Breathing became harder as the fingers around his throat constricted.

Clawing and kicking did nothing. The stranger would not stop.

Tears started falling from Quinn’s eyes as he knew he would not survive this. No one would hear him scream.

‘Someone please find me,’ was the last though Quinn had before everything went black.

His eyes popped open as he gasped for the breath he thought he lost.

Crying, Quinn searched frantically for his best friend. Ghost was no where near. The though caused his shaking to worsen. He needed someone to comfort him.

Struggling to his phone Quinn went to call the only person he could think of. Just before he pressed send the phone began to buzz, they called him instead.

“Hello?” Quinn asked shakily.

“Quinn? Are you alright?”

Sean.

Quinn breathed a sigh at the familiar voice.

“Yeah. Just had a pretty freaky dream.”

“That’s what Ghost said. Me too.”

“Ghost?”

“Yeah, he came to me, said he couldn’t wake you and your dream was so bad it was scaring him.”

Just then the entity in question appeared.

“Oh, thank god.” Ghost replied so happy to see his friend awake an ok. Quinn relaxed further knowing his friend was near and he was now being cared for.

“Open up.” said Sean.

“What?”

“I came over to help you and Ghost, but you answered your phone before I got there. So now I’m outside your house. I feel weird just walking in.”

Quinn hurried to the door and let his new friend in. Noticing how Sean’s shoulders seemed to relax as he saw Quinn was ok.

They went into the kitchen, both in need of a refreshment after their experiences.

They relayed what happened, wary of their dreams, thinking if they get it off of their chests they’d feel better. Neither could help but notice the odd coincidences and the similar endings.

“So you were lost and I wanted to be found? Thats so creepy.”

“Yeah and both started nice and normal before turning dark.”

Quinn blushed again. Telling Sean about the kiss was hard but he over came his shyness to get it all out.

“What do you think it all means? Was it some sort of weird coincidence or what?” Ghost asked feeling uneasy about the dreams. They made him feel scared.

“Ghost, what is it?”. Quinn saw the look in his eyes. This was really bothering the younger boy.

“I-I just feel weird like scared and sad like I know what you felt last night.”

Sean looked to Quinn quickly. They both saw it then. Ghost, however, had no idea his honesty just help them figure it out.

Their dreams where about him.

They had to find Ghost because he was the one lost.

[mmk question…who do you think should play ghost? Keep in mind he is younger then the other boys jut FYI <3]

Chapter Five

[Here you go, took a while but I’m working on a few other stories a the moment :) hope you enjoy it! May<3]

Chapter Five

The three boys had spent the night trying to figure out anything they could about Ghost.  Trying their best not to let him get depressed.  Every time Quinn caught a sad look they’d remind Ghost that they were going to figure it out soon.

No matter what they tried, Ghost still couldn’t remember enough to give them an answer.  He mostly only had feelings and even then he couldn’t be certain that those feelings were from his past.  So when morning came Sean and Quinn decided the best place to start looking for clues was the town library.

They settled down in a file room to look through past newspapers, finding nothing on the internet the previous night.  Though they had nothing to search for in the first place, so that didn’t help either.

“Ok, so when did you say you first met Ghost?”  Sean asked.

“Um, I was about ten, so almost eight years ago?”

“So we know he had to of, um….” Sean trailed off, hesitating with a look towards Ghost.

“I had to of died at least eight years ago.” Ghost sighed, “Don’t feel you have to be careful around me guys.  If we want to figure this out we have to be frank and not tip toe around the subject.”

Quinn was proud of his friend.  It was pretty obvious as Quinn grew older that Ghost was in fact a young teen.  There were things that tended to hurt his friends feeling then they would say a 16 year old.  He was pretty sensitive and to put it as nicely as possible, not very mature in some situations.  Not saying that Quinn was much better, but there was a noticeable difference at times.

“Ok,” Sean gave Ghost a reassuring smile, seeming to be just as proud, and continued, “so we should start searching the newspapers from eight years ago.  Look for anything that might seem important to a boy gone missing.  I doubt will find an exact article seen as there was nothing online, which I still find weird.  Like everything is online no-a-days.”

“Hahahaha, you just sounded like a 15 year old girl!”  Quinn couldn’t stop laughing; it wasn’t so much the words just the fact Sean was the one saying them.

“Ugh, I didn’t even think about what I was saying.  I totally did, I sounded just like a dim witted girl I know.  Only she would have added a few more ‘likes’ to the sentence.” Sean chuckled.

Once again he was struck by the fact that even though he only knew these two for a short time, he felt more comfortable with them then anyone previously.

The boys got to work, searching through every paper they could find. Their library held the papers from the top publishers as well as their own small town paper.  Needless to say, they had been search for about an hour and they only finished about a quarter of them, for the first year.

They had pulled out all of the newspapers from the first possible year Ghost went missing.  Placing them all on the scared table top, the stack looked daunting.  There were a lot more the any of them were planning on.  Who knew 52 papers could make such a larger pile?

Sean sighed, this was taking a long time.  They were going to have to come back a few more days to get through all of the papers.  He sat back, rubbing his neck to relieve some of the strain and then stretched.  He enjoyed the feeling of his sore muscles pulling as he raised his arms above his head.   His back popped, telling him he had been hunched over longer then he thought.

Quinn couldn’t help but notice they way Sean’s shirt raised up, exposing skin at his mid-drift.  His breath quickened a little as he took in the light trail of hair leading from his navel to disappear under Sean’s dark blue jeans.  Quinn was no stranger to this sort of attraction.  He has know for a few years that his interests in lie in his own gender.  However he has never really followed through with his attractions.  Quinn wasn’t exactly the most popular kid in the world.

Sean really was attractive, Quinn was surprised the other boy seemed to be just as much of a loner as himself.  He had short dirty blonde hair that Quinn itched to touch.  And those eyes of his, those blue eyes that were….looking right at him.

“What?” Sean asked as Quinn looked quickly away.

“Nothing,” he said quickly. “You find anything yet?”

“Nah, this is going to take a couple of days for sure.”

As Quinn went back to searching, Sean glances towards their friend.  “Ghost, I meant to ask you, have you always ….traveled I guess.  Or where you in the school until Quinn found you?”

“You know I never thought to ask that all these years.”  Quinn looked to Ghost, happy to have a distraction.

“Well, I mean all I can remember was the school.  Then I met Quinn and followed him around.”  Ghost grinned at us and chuckled.  “I don’t think I had ever tried to go anywhere else.  I had free rain over the school though.  I do remember checking it all out, even the basement, creepy. It gave me the willies so I never went there much.”

“Maybe we should check out the school a bit then just in case.  There had to be some reason he hunted the school first.  I mean, not that you were haunting it, more like roaming? I don’t know.”  Sean seemed a bit embarrassed, but Ghost smiled again and laughed.

“I’m not much of a haunter; I can’t really do anything scary.”

“Really? Have you ever tried, floating this, throwing?   We know you can walk through walls and stuff, but anything else?”  Sean was really interested in this.  Before he was caught up in the fact that Ghost was real, but now he wanted to know what being a ghost was all about.  Who got the chance to interview a live ghost? Well not live but in existence…

“Levitating things never really worked for me.  I did knock over a chair once, on accident. I was really angry at….someone.”  Ghost stopped himself when he saw Quinn’s panicked look.

He didn’t understand, Sean knew about how Quinn got thrown down the stairs now, something even he had not fully known.  Why would Quinn feel the need to hide the rest?

“Wow, that’s cool.”  Sean thankfully didn’t notice.  Quinn breathed a sigh of relief.

They got back to work, but Sean took a moment to look at Quinn.  He did notice the look on Quinn’s face and Ghost’s hesitation.  What made Ghost angry?  And who was it that Quinn did not want him to know about?

Sean took in the mop of dark brown hair that fell gently across Quinn’s forehead.  He wanted to brush it away from the other boys face.  See those chocolate brown eyes unhidden.

This wasn’t the first time Sean had felt this way about Quinn.  Every moment he feels closer to the other boy.  Now though, ever since he heard of Quinn’s accident, Sean had been having these odd urges.  To coddle him, comfort him.  He was feeling protective of his new friend.  That might have been the reason he pretty much panicked last night when Ghost came for him, and full on rushed out of his house, no questions asked.

He had never had feelings towards someone else, boy or girl.  At least not like this.  Sean was beginning to think he was asexual, but really was unsure.  He never had a chance to test his theory.  Now it didn’t seem quite as relevant.

Before he could stop himself, Sean slowly moved his hand forward and followed his want.  He pushed aside the soft brown hair.  Quinn’s eyes snapped to his. Questioning.  Sean paused for a moment, unsure of what to say, how to explain his urge.

He leaned in slowly, still under the trance of his feelings.  Quinn followed drawing nearer to the other boy.   They were inches apart now, breaths growing faster.  So close to touching the soft lips of the other.

“Hey guys!  Why don’t we talk to the librarian!?” Ghost popped into the room interrupting the moment unknowingly.

Sean cleared his throat after they both jumped apart.  “That’s actually probably a good idea.  She might know what newspaper would be best to look at.”

Sean hurried out of the room to carry out the task.  Knowing that if he stayed in that room he wouldn’t be able to stop himself from doing something stupid and ruining his new friend ship.  The first real relationship in his life.

Ghost look to Quinn, “What was that?” He noticed his friends blush.

“I don’t really know.”  Quinn admitted, shrugging his shoulders and he tried to figure it out for himself.

[I still need some to play Ghost, if you have any ideas I’d love to hear them! Picture of Quinn to the right –> :)  <3]

Chapter Six

[Let me know what you think! Enjoy! May<3]

Chapter Six

The librarian wasn’t able to give the boys much assistance. She suggested that they narrow down their search a bit more. So once again they were back to the fact that they knew nothing of Ghost’s past and had no way to figure it out without some other clue on what to look for.

Since they knew Ghost had to of been associated with their school, Sean and Quinn decided to start asking around, maybe someone will know something. They came up with a plan to interview teachers about missing persons cases. Quinn figured they’d be more then happy to help if the students were do research for a school project. Teachers loved when students became actively involved in their homework.

So far they had talked to about 3 different teachers, choosing the older ones that would have been here eight years or more. Each one had had similar answers.

They mostly got a “I’m sorry I have not heard of any missing people or children in the surrounding area.”

One of the teachers got excited about their research and tried to give them more ideas to write about. He told them that many children run away so that would be some statistics to look up and ‘also check the larger cities stats to compare to their own.’ As nice as the mans help was, it did not actually pertain to them. To be that guys seem to really want to help with the ‘paper.’

They approached Mr. Wallace next, he was a younger teacher but he had still been here for about ten years or so. This was the guy everyone seemed to like, Quinn didn’t understand that but whatever.

“Mr. Wallace?” Sean asked knocking on the door frame to signal their presence.

“Yes? How can I help you boys?” The teacher said with a charming and encouraging smile. Quinn figured that had a lot to do with his status, he really was as nice as possible to everyone.

“We were wondering if we could question you for our research paper.” Quinn answered.\

“Its about missing persons.”

“Oh, well that seems like an interesting topic.” He looked at them curiously, probably never hearing of a teacher that assigned it. Quinn mentally crossed his fingers, hoping they wouldn’t get caught in a lie. That would get people asking them questions they didn’t have a sane answer to.

“Well let’s hear them!” Mr. Wallace looked happy to help once again.

“We were asking around to see if anyone had knowledge of any missing children. Ones that may have gone to school here in the past.”

Mr. Wallace looked at them oddly before answering, “Sorry boys, I’ve been here over ten years now and I don’t ever remember any students that have gone missing. Can’t help ya. I’ve got to get back to my grading so I’ll see you in class.”

We walked out of the classroom feeling down, no one seemed to know anything.

They had time in the free period to ask one more teacher. They were going to the oldest teaching the school now. Mrs. Murphy had been here for over thirty years. Sean’s parents had told him once in passing that they knew her from their time here.

AS they walked down the hall the boys heard a squeaking sound. One that seemed to be following them all day. Sean looked behind him just in time to catch the Janitor looking their way. He shivered feeling as if he had been watching them all day.

“Let’s get done with Mrs. Murphy and then I want to check out that Janitor.” Sean said quietly to Quinn.

“Ok,” Quinn agreed glancing nervously behind him. He had noticed their stalker as well.

When they question Mrs. Murphy they found out a big reason as to why many teachers would not know about a missing child a lot of times.

“We aren’t always given a reason as to why the students have left.” She told us. “Kids come and go all the time, some stay for only a few days and others for years. Sometimes we are informed that the students have moved or changed schools, but usually that is from the other students. If a child did not have many friends or the parents never informed the school as to why they did not attend school or were taken out, then we never know. As long as the parents or guardians confirm the office that the children are no longer attending they had no real reason. So it is possible a missing child may go under the radar at school if the parent doesn’t inform us. But I don’t see what parent would not want everyone to look for a missing child.”

She smiled at them as she continued with her business, thinking that she had eased the boy’s minds about there not being a missing child here. What she didn’t was her words put an uneasy feeling into the stomachs. Could Ghost have been a neglected child? Were his parents ones that did not care to look for their missing child?

As they walked out of the teacher’s room, Sean caught the retreating back of the stalking Janitor and decided now was a good time to see what he was up to.

Quinn followed Sean as quietly as possible. Did this man know something about Ghost, or another missing child? Maybe he could help them. Or maybe he is a sick freak that wants to hack us to bits. Quinn shook himself mentally. Those thoughts are from watching too many scary movies.

The Janitor proved to be took quick for them though as the lost track of him. The circled the school but found him nowhere. As the started back for their classes, Quinn caught site of the Janitor’s closet.

“Hey.” He grabbed Sean’s arm and pointed to the closed door. Ignoring the tingles in his hand as best as possible. “Maybe we can find some of his things in there?”

“Maybe.” Sean agreed.

Looking around to check that the coast was clear, Sean pulled Quinn into the closet. They flipped on the light, but were met with only the normal cleaning supplies need for the job. No personal effects seemed to be present.

Quinn sighed, “Well there went my plan, there’s nothing here to help us. Unless the mop can tell us who the guys is.”

Sean laughed at his friend. “It’s ok we can figure that out later.”

As he turned to leave Sean found himself no more then an inch away from Quinn. Neither had realized how close they had gotten to each other. Quinn looked from Sean’s eyes to his mouth, swallowing thickly as he tried to fight with himself not to do anything stupid. No need to ruin a new promising friendship just because those lips were irresistible.

Quinn’s heated breath moved across Sean’s face and he knew he was a goner. He had wanted this since that moment in the library. It couldn’t hold it any longer.

Sean moved in, brushing his lips softly against Quinn’s. Asking permission from the other man, hoping that he wouldn’t be refused.

Quinn moaned at the contact of those soft lips against his and sank in. They reacted quickly to the contact. Quinn’s hands moving to clench Sean’s shirt, holding on tight as Sean’s hands circled around his head, holding him in place for the kiss.

Quinn couldn’t stop his tongue from coming out to play, licking roughly at Sean’s lips. Sean groaned at the bold move from the other boy, allowing him to slip inside and tangle with his own tongue. Slick and sliding the dueled back and forth, first in Sean’s mouth ten to Quinn’s. The small closet filled with the sounds of the heavy panting and breathy moans and groans.

This was wonderful Quinn though. He had never had this, from boy or girls. He had always dreamed of it, but no one paid much attention to him to warrant an amazing kiss.

Sean was having similar thoughts of wonderment. Glorying in the impact the kiss had on him when no others had come remotely close. He had tried to find someone, any one to make him feel what he thought he couldn’t feel. Sean most definitely knew he was not asexual now. The kiss was by far to amazing.

As they started to heat up more, Quinn started to move his hands down, hoping to get a feel of the skin beneath Sean’s shirt. He wanted to follow that happy trail, but he knew that was too soon for either of them.

Just as his hand came in contact with Sean’s heated flesh, the door whipped open revealing the Janitor to the shocked boys.

Chapter Seven

The boys were on their way to Sean’s house for more researching. The run in with the janitor was scary but they had high tailed it out of there as fast as they could, making it to their last class in record time. Thankfully they saw nothing of the janitor on the way out of school.

Sean grinned, unable to hold in his joy, when Quinn’s hand slowly attached to his. He felt, for the first time in his life, he felt something towards another human being. Sean was so use to just existing, that this new feeling was bazaar.

Quinn glanced towards Sean, catching him with a smile on his face, relaxed. He’s never been a forward person, but with Sean it was different. He wanted to be the forward, not shy, person.

Quinn had made the decision to go to Sean’s. Thankfully the other boy didn’t ask any questions, just smiled and agreed. He did not want Sean at his home today. With his mother off early, things would have been strained, to say the least. It was bad enough Sean knew what happened before, he didn’t want Sean to see how it was now. That would be just too much to add to a new friendship, and hopefully sometime in the near future and new relationship.

They came up to a beautiful two story home. It was yellow with white shutters and a bright red door. A clean and trimmed lawn, white pickett fence surrounding it. A few well place, and equally maintained bushes bordered the home, making it the picture of suburban perfection. When they walked in the inside was of course just as perfect and beautiful. Uncluttered, clean, and put together.

Quinn felt a pang of jealousy when his home came to mind. Why couldn’t he have what Sean had? Not wanting to blame Sean for what he himself lacked, Quinn shoved his thoughts to the back of his mind and followed Sean.

Sean went to the kitchen first, to grab a snack for the two of them. When he saw both his parents at the kitchen table, he was again a little shocked. They were hardly ever home early, they were almost never home early together.

“Hey mom, hey dad.” Sean said a little more chipper then usual, as the boys made their way to the table.

Quinn was a little suprised when they didnt respond. They only looked breifly to Sean and nodded, moving back to their work.

“Um, this is my friend, Quinn. He’s going to help me look up some stuff.”

“’Kay,” his dad mumbled distractedly.

Sean shurgged and went to the fridge. He grabbed two water bottles and two apples.

The boys went upstairs and into Sean’s bedroom, it seemed very much appropriate to a teenager’s bedroom. A few dirty close in the corner, books and papers littering the desk and surrounding floor. The bed was made, but something told Quinn that wasnt done by choice. Maybe it was Sean’s egourging to just plop down and get comfortable, not even the slightest bit upset about the sheets wrinkling and messing up.

Quinn climbed onto the bed and they began pulling out their computers and setting up.

“Ok, so the janitor, right?”

“Yeah, he was a creeper for sure.”

“I didn’t think he was that creepy!” Ghost said as he popped up next to Sean.

“Jeez!” Sean grabbed his chest as his heart leaped into his throat.

“Yeah, you’ll get use to it though.” Quinn said, laughing at Sean’s reaction.

“What?” Ghost asked innocently as he looked between the two.

Sean coudlnt hold back his own laughter at the situation, and the fact Quinn’s laugh was intirely infectious.

They started their researching after they calmed down. Though the weird janitor proved to be a tricky find. They didnt know much about the guy besides his profession.

“FOUND IT!” Quinn yelled, fist pumping the air.

“What?!”

“His NAME! Rick Dumle, Custodial Staff, from the schools website.” Quinn’s grin of self approval was conageous to the other boys.

“That’s great! Now we might actually get somewhere!”

After another half hour of nothing turning up, they decided to check the town’s library once more, now that they had a little more to go from.

As Quinn walked down the stairs he noticed all of the lights where off,“Where are your parents? They don’t go to bed this early right?“He asked.

“They probably went out to eat.”

“Without letting you know?” Not that his mother did, but thats because she never went ut to eat really.

“Eh, they usually do it that way, if I’m home I’ll whip something up for myself.”

‘Oh well,’ Sean thought, ‘maybe Quinn will let me take him to dinner or something.’

They made it to the library and went directly to their previous spot, the large piles of newspaper less daunting now that they had something to go off of.

A while later the boys had mixed feelings as it seemed they found what they had been searching for. Rick Dumle was arrested for trustpassing on private property when, the owner claims, he refused to leave and also refused to leave their youg son alone. There wasn’t much more details but the situation did not sound pleasant.

They found out also that a Richard Dumle gratuated from there high school about 9 years ago. It would have mean he might have been around when Ghost was still alive.

With all the information found on the creepy janitor, the boys were expecting an entirely different reaction out of Ghost. No, they didnt think he would be happy to know this man might have harmed him, but when they saw the look of dissappoinment in his eyes, they were a little confused.

“What is it Ghost? Aren’t you a little relieved we might be closer to find you? To knowing who you are?” Quinn asked his best friend gently.

“Well, yeah, kinda, its just…”

“Is just what?” Sean pushed slightly at Ghost’s pause.

It was interesting to Sean that Ghost kept getting these feelings. Feelings that seemed to spawn from nothing. Sean had a thought that the random feelings Ghost had about different places and people, could be from when he was still alive. He just can’t remember why he felt that way.

“Its just that, i dont know, that it upsets me he would do something like that?”

“What do you mean by that? I didnt know you knew the janitor.” Quinn said.

“Well I knew him before I met you, but just as I followed him around like many others. It just a feeling I have ok. I dont want to think he was the one.”

Quinn saw the look of frustration on Ghost’s face and knew what was coming, he started nodding before the younger boy spoke.

“I want to be alone for a while.” And just like that he vanished.

“Did we upset him again?” Sean asked a little dissppointed but mostly with himself. Had he pushed his new friend too far?

“No, I think he upset himself. Sometimes his feelings and his thoughts point him in two different directions.”

“I get that, happens to many people really.”

“Yeah, I think its just hard for him because he is so young and the fact that he cant justify WHY he is feeling the way he is sometimes.”

Sean agreed with Quinn’s thoughts, but the way Quinn spoke of Ghost’s misunderstanding his own feelngs, had him telling Quinn his theory. Maybe the feelings WERE from Ghost’s past life.

“I think you might actually be onto something, Sean. I mean it makes sense, and in a way I kind of wondered the same.”

Sean nodded, and gazed at the papers blankly, trying to figure out what to do next. Ghost was needing space, and they found out what they needed to know about Dumle, the creeptastic janitor. Maybe their next step had to be to talk to him, or more so follow him. Sean didnt want to be close enough to talk now that he might be the reason ghost is here and not out there somewhere, living life as an adult.

The worried, thoughful look on Sean’s face, had Quinn falling for him just little more. He really did care about Ghost, and to Quinn Ghost needed all the care and support he could get.

Quinn reached out and ran his hand down Sean’s arm to link their hands together. Sean squeezed Quinn’s hand in return, looking to him and smiling.

“So about that kiss in the closet….” Sean said, with a wicked gleam in his eye.

“Mmmmm, what about it?” Quinn asked faking innocence, smirking a little.

“Want to do it agian?”

“Yes.”

Sean couldnt help but laugh with joy as Quinn launched himself into his arms. Their lips met and the kiss was on. The feel of Quinn’s soft lips on Sean’s had them both moaning with pleasure. They could focus on the creep in a little while. Right now this was the perfect thing to focus on.

Chapter Eight

[Had to repost via the computer, but hopefully it worked this time.  Comments are welcome, May<3]

Chapter Eight

Sean and Quinn were sitting together at lunch, much to Quinn’s enjoyment.  He usually sat ‘alone’ at and empty tble, aide from an inveisible friend that is.

They were a little suprised when a teacher walked up to them and sat down at the table with them.  He was a tall, skinny old man with lightly graying hair and a jolly face. The boys knew of the teacher, or at least Quinn knew he did.  He taught some of the freshman courses. Quinn had never had him though, and by the looks of it neither did Sean.

“Hey boys!” I hope you don’t mind me barging in but I heard about your asking the older teacher about a research paper? Missing kids?“ The teacher said quickly.

Quinn started to panic, had they been found out? Was he going to ak why they were looking into missing kids? Were they in trouble?

At their dear in headlights look, the teacher continued, explaining himself further, “Well I was a little taken back when I hadn’t receive and word of it, or anyone to come ask ME questions.  I’ve been here about as long as Mrs. Murphy!”

“Oh, well we’re sorry!” Sean recovered quickly, hopefully all it was is a case of feeling left out. “We didn’t even think to check the teacher’s in the other grades!”

The Teacher laughed and smiled, “Oh, its alright! I know you boys probably just forgot altogether.” He laughed, “But I really wanted to touch base with you.  I know some things that may help wih your project, so feel free to ask ME any questions.”

Quinn looked to Sean, and when he nodded in agreement, Quinn began questioning this other teacher.  “So have you ever heard of a missing child -”

“Or Children!” Sean interupted thankfully correcting Quinn’s slip-up.

“-from our town, that went to school here?” Quinn gave Sean a small appreciative smile and turned fully to the teacher, hoping, but not sure if the man could even help them.

“Well, yes.” The teachers smile grew as the boys attention peaked and they jerked forward, not wanting to miss a detail. “There were a few students over the years that I’ve suspected may have been lost or run away, but there is one that I am almost postive about.”

Quinn’s heart beat picked up, ‘please let him be the one!’   Sean’s palms grew sweaty, ‘could this be it?’

“He was a very quiet boy, alwas kept to himself.  I hd never seen him with any friends, just hung out around the oak tree in front everyday.  Until one day he didnt show up.  Which that alone was odd, because I don’t think he ever missed a day.  But he never did come back.”  The teacher’ bright attitude dimmed a little when he finished.

“Do-do you remember his name?”  Sean held his breath.  This could be it, this could be what happened to Ghost.  If they had his name, maybe he’d remember.  Or maybe they could fin out what happened to him, where he was.

The teacher sighed, “Unfortunately no.  I have so many students pass through my door, that I can’t seem to recall his.  I only remembered him because of the odd circumstances.”

“Oh, well….still just knowing there was missing children here does help us with our paper, statistics you know.”  Quinn said, trying to act normal.

“Was there anything else you remembered?” Sean asked, knowing he was probably pushing his luck, but not wanting the oppertunity to pass them up.

“Well…yes actually.  I remember seeing his mother after.”  Two pairs of eyes widened as the teacher continued. “ It was a few weekes after the boy stopped coming to school.  I was just asking how he was doing and the mothers attitude is what shocked me, and comfirmed my suspitions.  She told me she didn’t know and she didn’t care, ‘he’s the one who dissappeared, probably went to join the circus’ she said.  The mother seemed to be put off that I was bothering her about a kid that wasn’t around any more.  She knew he was missing, thought he ran away, but didn’t seem to care what happened one way or another.“  The teacher’s eyes dropped, “it’s sad to me, how could she not care? I didnt know the home life, but if I had been blessed with a child, I would have been out of my mind with worry had they gone missing.”

They sat in silence for a moment, taking in all that they had heard.

Sean coughed, pulling himself out of a funk, “Well thank you so much for all the help, it will make researching and writing the paper that much easier knowing we had at least one.”  The boys both forced a smile, trying to seem like the information wasn’t personal.

“No problem boys, feel free to come ask me anything!”  The teacher said as he stood, shaking off the depressing mood they had fallen into.

Sean watched as the man walked away, catching site of something he wished he hadn’t.  In the back corner of the lunch room stood the janitor, relatively out of site, watching them.

***

It was late that night when Sean pulled himself from bed.  He had heard a noise in the livingroom and decided he had better see what was up.  His parents might still be up working, but just incase, he’d rather be safe then sorry.

He walked down the hall, coming to a living room. No, his livingroom.  A younger looking woman sat on the couch, fallen beer bottles around her.  She was watching TV and talking to herself.

“Rotten, yeer alllll rotten.” She spat as she tossed on of her empties at the TV.

As it thudded to the ground, he spoke.   “Mom, shouldn’t you be in bed?”

She ignored his question, muttering more at the whatever was happening on the TV.

He sighed.  Walking closer he touched her shoulder.  She flinched and whipped her head towards him.

“Why are you here?” She asked, looking at him with no emotions.  “Can’t you see I’m busy? Go, leave.”  She turned back to the TV, grabbing her bottle and taking a swig.

He sighed once more turning to leave.

“Love you, mom.”  He said as he walked back to bed, no response came from the woman.

Not really able to sleep with the random thuds he kept hearing, he decided to get some homework done for tomorrow.  He already had his paper done for tomorrow, but double checking it won’t hurt.  As he was almost done rechacking everything, the front door slammed shut.

“Mom?” He called out, not expecting an answer. Of course she left again, and of course she didn’t say good bye.  If it were up to her, he wouldn’t even exist.

He finished up the paper and scribbled his name quickly for the morning hand in.     He felt the tears fall as he made his way into bed.

‘Why doesn’t she want me, why doesn’t she care that I’m here, why doesn’t she love me?’   Sean started on a sob.

Opening his eyes he felt the tears falling fast.  What was that?  Why did he feel like he’d been crying all night.  Just then it hit him, a dream.  He had another dream.  But it started out like him.  Sean remembered clearly waking up from his own bed and going to the living room,  but calling another woman mom.  And that name on his homework……THAT NAME!

Sean jumped out of bed, throwing on clothes as quickly as possible.  He bounded down the stairs and out the front door.  Thankful it was daylight outside and hoping it wasnt too early.  He rushed to Quinn´s house, pounding on the door.   He raised his hand to knock again just as the door jerked open, reveling a disgruntled woman.

Hair wild and large bags under her eyes, she barked, “what the hell do you want!”

  “I-”

“Sean?” Came the oft voice of an angel, he couldn’t hold back the smile at Quinn’s sleepy voice. “What are you doing here?”

“Brat!”  The woman turned to Quinn rapidly, grabbing him by the back of the head, gribbing his hair roughly, “Tell your stupid freaking friends to never coming this freaking early in the morning or I swear to god….”  She clenched her teeth tighly and threw Quinn towards a shocked and quickly angering Sean.

“Quinn-” Sean started, voice growing low and gravely.

“Don’t, come on.”  Quinn said queitly as he grabbed Seans wrist and pulled him out of the house.

They made their way to Sean’ car and climbed in, Sean made a quick decision to head to the park.

“What was that all about?”

“She’s just not a morning person,”  Quinn replied quietly once more.

“hmph,”  Sean still felt his anger boiling at the surface.  He hated the fact Quinn went through that. And he ahd a pretty darn good feeling Quinn goes through that everyday.  His grib on the steering wheel tightend, knuckles going white.

Quinn took notice and quickly decided to defuse the situation, no use dealing with two angery people in less then an hour. “SO what brought you to the house?”

Sean started, completely forgetting his reason to rush over,  grinning he said, “I know a name.”

“A name?”  Quinn looked closely at Sean.  A name…..? Suddenly he looked to Sean, eyes wide.

Sean nodded, “I think so.”  he said softly.

“We need to get Ghost!”   Quinn yelped as the boy in question sat forward from the back seat.

“I’ve been here the whole time.”   Quinn felt a little guilty knowing he had never even noticed Ghost following them to the car.

“So what do you need me for? What name?”

Sean looked into the rearview mirror,  saying softly yet strong, “Yours.”

Chapter Nine

[Alrighty, so I’ve finally been able to finish writing this! Yay for not being busy and sick! Hope you enjoy it! <3]

Chapter Nine

Sean looked to the younger man through the rear view mirror, watching his reaction.  He did not want to upset him and Sean didn’t know if this would cause that to happen.  The boy’s translucent blue eyes reflected shock, but also curiosity and hope.

“What-What is it?”  He looked to Quinn first and then quickly to Sean, pleadingly.

                “Jacob, Jacob Smithes.”

Ghost looked out the car window, gaze unfocused as the name played over and over in his mind.

                “Quinn?”

                “Yea, Ghost?”

“My name is Jacob.”  Ghost broke out into a smile.

Quinn couldn’t hold back his own look of joy.  “It is.”

“Well, I mean, I don’t want to bring down the mood, but we have to make sure.  I could be wrong you know.”  Sean said, doubting himself.  He wanted so badly to find Ghost, make his friends happy, but now all he could think about were there disappointed faces if he was wrong all along.

“No, Sean, it IS my name.” His grin grew larger if at all possible.

Sean and Quinn looked closely at the younger boy, and that’s when they saw a look so unfamiliar to Ghost, recognition.

“I remember that’s my name, I can feel it.  It’s so familiar to me. I just can’t explain it other than to say it is my name!”

“Can you remember anything else now?”  Quinn asked quickly, hoping they broke through the vault of Ghost’s mind.

Ghost’s looked turned to one of concentration.  He squinted at the distance trying desperately to recall anything.   Finally he sighed, shaking his head no as his shoulders slumped.

“Hey,” Sean said softly, “At least now we know your name.  YOU know your name.”  Sean grinned, “And I have an idea on how to learn more.”

“Guys!” Quinn whispered, “I don’t think this is such a great idea!”

“It’s totally a great idea Quinn.”  Ghost said in reply.

“It’s the only thing I could come up with, and besides what better way to find out about a student then to look at his records?”

                “Exactly!”  Ghost shot towards Quinn.

Quinn groaned, “I hope we don’t get caught.”

“With an invisible boy as our look out we won’t. So stop worrying.” Sean said as he grabbed Quinn’s hand, holding onto it in hopes of calming him.  With a little added benefit on his own behalf as well.

They were at the High school in the middle of the night.  They had snuck in through a broken delivery door; one Ghost had informed them of.  Making their way slowly to the office, Ghost would disappear for a few moments as he checked the path ahead, making sure the coast was clear.  Thankfully the file room was located in the front office, with an open doorway for the ease of the secretaries.

The room was filled with filing cabinets.  Every wall contained at least three, with a middle row of six wide set lateral files.  Sean looked at each one with a look of annoyance, how where they to be quick with all of this to look through? Thankfully Quinn’s anxiety took a rest and his smarts kicked in.  He skimmed the labels on each, searching for SM.  When he found the one he was looking for, labeled SI-SO, he stood back and waved the other two boys forward.

“There you go, now hurry up!”  Quinn whispered.

Sean rummaged through the manila folders as quickly as he could, “Sims, Simmons, Sitter, Sketter, Skip, Skitcher, Slatter, Slauter, Slent, Slight, Slopps, Smant, Smeller, Smith, Smith, Smithes, Smithies…..wait, Smithes, Jacob!”  Sean pulled the file, Ghost was practically bouncing beside him.

Placing the file on the nearest flat surface, Sean hesitated a moment before opening the file.  He took a deep breath, looked to Quinn, and at his slight nod, opened the file.  The first thing to greet their eyes, confirmed every suspicion they had.

Inside, paper clipped to the front cover of the folder, was a picture of a boy, around age 13 or 14, with dark brown hair, and blue, blue eyes.  His skin was still a little pale, even while still alive.

Quinn looked at the brown haired, blue eyed boy beside him, “Well Ghost, you were right, that is your name, we found out who you are.”  Quinn smiled to his friend, a little uneasy.  What would this mean now?  How will this change things?

“What-umm-what would you rather be called now?  Your name?”  Sean asked, very unsure of his situation.

Ghost was staring down at the picture; it had been so many years since he has seen his own face, not that he could really remember that, just the feeling of time.  He has longed to see his reflection, see himself.

When the question Sean asked sunk in, he turned to look at his most recent friend, “Ghost, that’s who I am now.”  Quinn and Sean both smiled at him gently.

“Ghost it is,”  Sean said as he went to the file once more.  He flipped through a few pages and then back to the beginning.  “Ok, well good news, we have an address and contact.”  Sean looked to Quinn.

“So, we can visit your old home, maybe contact your parents? See what they know.”

Ghost nodded, they were coming so close to finding out what happened and ghost really did want to know, but he was becoming scared.  What if the answer isn’t what he wanted to hear?  What will happen when they find out?

“What’s the bad news?”  Ghost asked Sean quickly.

Caught slightly of guard Sean stumbled, “Wha-what do you mean bad news?

“Well you said it like there is good news and bad news, so what is it?”

Sean looked down, “Aside from a few schedules, there’s nothing else in your folder. No notes, no comments from teachers, its rather….empty.”

“Humph, just like my brain it seems.”  Sean and Quinn looked to each other, unsure of how to react to that, “Guys, it was a joke! Ha ha funny? Because I can’t remember and I have an empty transparent head sometimes?”

Sean cracked a smile as Quinn giggled a little, “We just didn’t want to hurt your feelings if you were just being down on yourself.”

“Look, I know I’m younger then you now Quinn, but you can be honest and everything with me, I can handle it.  I promise, ok?”

Quinn nodded, smiling softly.  Ghost my not be able to grow physically older, but mentally it seems like he is maturing.

They put everything away after copying everything in the file down.  Then the boys quickly exited the school much to Quinn’s relief.  The school look deserted and relatively ominous now that they were leaving. Funny how Quinn only felt anxiety from the act of breaking in that he never noticed the creepy look it gave off at night now when one was around.  The dreams Quinn and Sean had that one night came to mind and a shiver worked its way up his back.  Was this how it looked in Sean’s dream?

Sean noticed Quinn shudder slightly and reached out for his hand.  Quinn took it gratefully as they made their way home.  The warmth of his fingers calming Quinn’s mind.

Today the three boys were off on another adventure, this one less extreme in Qunn’s eyes.  Sean had the idea to go by Ghost’s old home and see if it brought back any memories.  So they set off rather early, giving themselves plenty of time to do more research after the fact.

They reached the house pretty quickly, seems it was only a few blocks away from the school.  It was a small two story with white siding, somewhat plain compared to the houses around it.

The closer they came, Quinn and Sean continued to glance at Ghost.  They hoped this would trigger some kind of emotion or memory.

When they reached the home, Sean stopped at the front gate and stepped back, letting Ghost get the full view.  The far off look Ghost had when his name was found came to his face once more.  Gazing off into the windows of the small white house, Ghost felt the familiarity of this place.  So similar to the feeling he has when inside the school.

“So?  Anything?”  Quinn asked quietly.

“Its definitely familiar, that’s for sure.”

“Well, does it bring any thoughts to mind?” Sean asked in response.

Ghost concentrated for a moment then said, “Well I feel like I just want to go in and lay down. SO that has to mean something.”

“Yea, I would say so,” Quinn smiled.  “So you know the house and you feel comfortable here, that’s good.”

Just as the boys were trying to see what other feelings Ghost may be pulling from the home, a middle aged woman came out on to the front yard.  They all stopped and looked to each other.  The woman approached cautiously.

“Can I help you?” She asked.

“Um, would you happen to be Ms. Smithes?”  Sean asked, unsure yet hopeful of her response.

“Oh, no I’m sorry.  She was the last owner, I just bought the place about a year and a half ago.”

Ghost’s expression turned sad, it was too much to hope this woman might have been his mother.  He hadn’t felt any reaction when she came outside, but if it would have been her….Well it wasn’t, and Ghost needed to focus on the next step.  He was trying to prove he was mature enough to handle all of this, for Quinn.

“That’s ok ma’am, sorry to bother you.”  Quinn stated as they started to leave the old home of their dear friend.

A few houses down, however, Quinn stopped in his tracks.  That house number was entirely too familiar.

“What is it Quinn?”  Ghost asked his best friend, slightly concerned of his reaction.

“That-THIS is the address listed on the janitor’s arrest report.”

They all stopped and looked to the house then.  The Janitor lived only two houses away from the missing Jacob Smithes?

Chapter Ten

[Here it is! The last chapter of Ghost! ENJOY! <3]

Chapter Ten

In light of the fact the janitor lived close to Jacob Smithes, or Ghost, the boys decide it is time to investigate the man further.

One day, while Sean and Quinn held a free period, they notice the Janitor leaving the basement.  Quinn had seen him coming from that door many times before.  When he brought that up to Sean they knew what needed to be done.  Sean thought perhaps the reason they found nothing in the Janitor’s Closet might be because it’s all in the basement, another place frequented solely by the custodial staff.

Sean entered first, followed quickly by Quinn.  They started down a long, creaking metal staircase.  Quinn caught sight of numerous cobwebs.  How is a Janitors space this dirty?

The pipes clinked and clanged, covered with years of rust.  The smell was damp and dusty.  Lights flickered overhead, throwing shadows across their path, creating creepy images in the spaces around them.

“What are you boys doing down here?”

Both boys jumped as the voice, sounding so loud in the silence, erupted for nowhere. They turned around slowly, only to come face to face with the one man they hoped to avoid.  The janitor.

“U-ummm….” Quinn was shaking, what were they going to do?!

“We, uh, we were just curious about the basement of a school.  Thought we’d check it out.” Sean thought quickly.  Maybe they can plead ignorance and nothing will happen.

“Shouldn’t you be in class.” He asked lowly.

“Free period.” Quinn said.  Not wanting to get into trouble even if the situation may be on the dangerous side.

“Ah, so no one is expecting you?”

“YES!”  Sean said loudly, “We have another class in an hour, the teacher will be expecting us to be there….for a uhhh….for a test!”  Both boys cringed as the stated sounded false even to their ears.  Would they make it out of this?

“An hour? That’s plenty of time.”  The janitor responded, “sit.”

Quinn gulped. “Plenty of time for what?”

“To talk. Now sit.”  He said a little forcefully.

Talk, they could do that, if they keep the man talking then maybe someone will notice their absence and come looking.  Or maybe they’ll brush it off as skipping class and not do a thing.  Quinn felt his stomach twist at the thought, will anyone notice their missing?

They sat with the janitor at a rickety table in the middle of a random room.  Cement blocks made up the walls and a single bulb hung from the ceiling, providing just enough light to see the man in front of them.

“I’ve seen you boys around the school, heard you talking to the teachers.”

“About-about what?”  Sean asked, knowing the answer but hoping to keep him busy for the same reasons as Quinn.

“Asking about a missing kid, I knew someone who has been gone for a long time, Jacob.”  He said the name as though it was familiar to him, as though he knew it well.

“You know about him, Jacob Smithes?” Quinn asked softly, taking the leap that it was the same boy.  Fearing the answer but still hoping to find out the truth.

“Yes, I knew him.”  Their heart skipped a beat, this was the first they’ve come across someone who recognized the name and remembered the boy, although possibly for the wrong reasons.  The Janitor continued on his own, “He was such a quiet kid, always sat by himself.  We lived close to eachother.  I would try to talk to him sometimes, when he look particularly lonely.  We even walked to school together once.  Jacob, he-he was the only one who believed me.”

The janitor grew silent. He looked as though lost in his memories.

“Believed you about what?”  Sean risked asking.

“Believed me about my stupid assault charges.”  He looked angry now, Quinn was growing more fearful by the minute.

“What, um, what happened?”

“I was caught in a crappy situation.  Someone I was dating used me.  They got into a fight with their father and I was the retaliation.  I was older than them you see, so when the dad found out he got mad.  Started threatening me and pushing me around.  One night at their house it got so bad that I got angry and pushed back.  But I pushed just a touch too hard and the guy fell.  He hit his head on the wall and busted his head open.  Nothing deadly just bleed a little, but that was enough.  It didn’t matter how much I apologized,” He glared at the floor, “person I was dating clung to their dad and got mad at me.  They called cops. When I tried to apologize once more they claimed I was harassing.”  The janitor sighed. “I had only went back to the house once, but they claimed I was there constantly, stalking.  It was two against one, so you can guess who they believed.”

“Why would they do that?”  This was a whole different story then the boys originally though when they first saw the arrest records.  Amazing how one can jump to conclusions so quickly.

He shrugged, “I don’t know, I guess for them family was the most important, when they were in trouble you took their side no matter what.”

Sean looked to him in a new light.  Could it be he wasn’t the one responsible for Ghosts disappearance?

“Jacob asked why I was so upset one day, and when I told him the story he believed me without a doubt.  He was such a nice kid, I….We weren’t friends, but if he would have stayed, I think we might have been.“  He looked so sad.

“Did you know anything about his disappearance?”  Quinn asked, no longer getting the feeling of fear from this man.

“No, I wondered what happened to him when he didn’t show up to school for a few days.  It was very rare that I didn’t see him there.  I started to worry when it continued, so I stopped by his house and talked to his mom.  She was not concerned to say the least.  Said he ran away and to quit bugging her.”

He stood up, “Anyway, I just wanted to talk to you boys about him, see if you know anything.  I mean it’s been years, but I’d still like to know where he was, how he is doing.  If he remembers me.”  The janitor gave a small smile, but his eyes still had sadness in them.  Could the janitor have felt more then friendship for their young friend?

Quinn looked to Sean, asking a silent question, ‘should they?’  Sean shook his head, the janitor wouldn’t be able to see ghost, it would do him no good to tell the older man about him.  It’s likely that he wouldn’t believe him anyway.

“Well we don’t know much, pretty much everything we’ve found out is the same as what you’ve told us.  He was quiet kept to himself, and thought to have ran away.”

The man sighed, “well, one can hope.  Alright then, you boys better get to class, you don’t want to be late for that test.”  He smiled and winked at them, indicating he caught on to their lie but didn’t care much.

Sean gave a somewhat shaky, but relieved laugh, “Yea, and uh, if we find out more, we’ll let you know ok?”

“Yes, that would be great.”  The janitor looked grateful as he turned and lead them out of the creepy basement.

It seemed they were back to the beginning.  The one man the suspected all along was probably the only person who really cared what happened to Jacob Smithes all those years ago.

In between classes they decided to ask a few teachers about Jacob specifically, maybe now that they had a name someone else will remember him.  They got the same brush off as before.

“Sorry, I’ve had so many children come through my class, the name doesn’t ring a bell.”

The boys were so busy asking around that neither noticed the man watching them quickly turn around and rush down the hallway.

They hurried to class as the bell rang, taking his seat quietly, Quinn was a little shocked when Mr. Wallace came up to him.  He usually didn’t warrant the attention of the teachers, keeping his grades in good standing and not disrupting classes.

“Mr. Fredricks,  I was thinking on that question you asked me, about missing children, I had an idea for the paper you are working on, stop by after school and we’ll go over it.“  He gave his typical charming smile, but something felt different about it.

After class he rushed to Sean and filled him in, Sean had similar feelings, but they needed more help, maybe Mr. Wallace would have something for them.  So in the end curiosity won out.

It was a Friday, so as the last bell rang, students and teachers all rushed out of the school, ready to start the weekend. The halls seemed deserted as they made their way to Mr. Wallace’s room.

Ghost had come now that school was through, when they informed him of the Janitor he smiled greatly; he knew that man would not have hurt him.  The thought of going to the teacher’s room however, made him very apprehensive.

They came to his door and Quinn knocked lightly and looked inside.  “Mr. Wallace?”

“Oh Mr. Fredricks, and Mr. Hopple! Glad you could make it.  Why don’t you boys have a seat.”  He came to the door and waved them both in.  As the boys took their seats, Mr. Wallace closed the door.

Sharing a questioning look the boys tried to focus their attention back on the teacher.  He moved to his own desk, standing in front, leaning in a seemingly relaxed position.

“So,” he began, why don’t you tell me a little more about this ‘paper’ you both are writing?” The way he formed the word ‘paper’ gave the boys a sneaking suspicion they had been found out.  He began speaking again before either could start to talk, “Because I asked around and none of the senior teachers seem to of assigned that type of research paper.”

The look of shock and guilt that crossed the boys’ faces confirmed the teacher’s thoughts.  “So the paper was fake.  I’m guessing you used this ‘paper’ as a way to convince your other teachers that you had too much work on your plate, to get them to let you slide on your other work?”  Mr. Wallace accused.

Thinking this as a way out of the truth, Sean and Quinn quickly agree that they were just getting out of their work.

“Ah-ha, I thought as much.”

“We’ll stop lying and start working harder on our other school work,” Quinn promised.

Mr. Wallace studied Quinn and then Sean quietly, “Tell you what, I won’t tell a sole…” His face turned to one of sinister intent as he smirked wickedly, “if you do me the favor of providing some relief.”

Sean’s heart dropped to his stomach; did he mean what he thought he did? “What, what do you mean?”

“Exactly what I said Sean,” The way he said Sean’s name sent a shiver down their spines.  “You both can give me a little help, and I won’t tell your teachers you’ve been getting out of your work on a lie.”  He said it so casually, but the look he gave them was heated, and when he said ‘help’ it was accompanied with a slight grope of his lower regains.

“But….You’re our TEACHER.”  Quinn expressed his disapproval adamantly.

The teacher’s eyes flashed with Quinn’s statement.  It was clear the boys would be less than willing.

“That’s exactly what he said!”  Mr. Wallace said viciously.

“W-who?” Sean asked, though he felt he knew already.

“That unwanted loner!  Smithes!”  He spat, “He refused me!”  Mr. Wallace said, appalled by the fact. “And when I threatened to fail him, he claimed he would tell the principle! Ruin my career.  I couldn’t have that now could I?” He defended.  “He had to be stopped.”

“What did you do?” Quinn whispered.  They were so wrong all along. The last person they thought was the world’s favorite teacher.

“Ha, what did I do? Got rid of him of course.  Squeezed his neck so hard he’d never talk again.  Couldn’t tell anyone. Had to get rid of the body too though, that was a little trickier, but the woods behind our school made for a good hidden spot.”  He said it all so calmly, not an ounce of guilt in his voice or actions.

Mr. Wallace sigh, “But, now that you both know the truth, I’ll have to do the same for you.”

Anticipating the threat, Sean rocketed out of his seat, grabbing Quinn and rushing for the door.  The teacher moved to stop the boys, but wasn’t expecting the body slam Sean delivered.  He feel backwards giving Sean and Quinn enough time to make it out the door.

They ran as quickly as possible to the nearest exit.  What they weren’t expecting was for it to be locked.  They forgot the school would be on lock down for the night and weekend.

“Sean the broken door!” Ghost yelled quickly as he followed his only friends.  He didn’t want them to suffer the same fate as he did.

With the new destination in mind the boys doubled their efforts.  They turned the corner and made it to the hall just before the door, but stopped in their tracks as a huffing Mr. Wallace blocked their exit.

“You thought you could get away that easily? I’ve been around longer then you boys, I know more about this school then you ever will.”  He approached them, herding them into the corner.

“You can’t get away with this!” Sean said venomously, yet still scared out of his mind.

“Oh, yes, yes I will.  You see, I do my research well.  No one will miss you, no one will notice youre gone.  Just like no one noticed Jacob Smithes absence.  It does me such a great assistance to pick the unwanted ones.  Jacob always sat alone, so do you Quinn.  Mothers and parents who dont want their children, who don’t notice their children when alive, well they just don’t seem to care when they go missing either.  As with Smithes mother, claiming her kid ran away, it just made it that much easier for me.”

And that was it, the thing that connected all the boys, their lack of a loving caring family.  Quinn felt his eyes prick as the tears began to form.  He was right no one would miss them, no one would even notice.

Mr. Wallace reached for Quinn, who seemed to be the least resistant.  Sean pushed him away trying to keep Quinn safe, only to receive a hard blow to the chest, knocking him to the ground and stealing the breath from his body.  The teacher grabbed the neck of the boy in his arms, slowly squeezing as Quinn struggled.

Just when Quinn felt the blackness creep into his vision, a loud bang erupted in the room.  Mr. Wallace grunted, spinning around quickly.  Another chair flung at him, this one missing by inches and slamming into the wall.

“Who is that!?”

What the teacher didn’t see was a very angered Ghost lifting and throwing items from across the room.

Quinn quickly moved to Sean to see if he was all right.  Sean enveloped Quinn protectively, holding him tight, as they watched in awe.

When Ghost ran out of things to throw, Mr. Wallace turned back to them, “I don’t know what kind of trick that was but you’ve got nothing left, you’re mine now, one way or another.”  They tensed as the older man reach for Quinn once more.

“Leave them alone!”  The voice boomed down the hallway. They turned to see a man at the end of the hall.

“Mr. Dumle, this is none of your concern, go back to cleaning your toilets.”  Mr. Wallace sneered.

The janitor took one look at the boys and lifted his hand, it was then they noticed the phone.  When the teacher realized he had called the cops, he launched himself at the Janitor. The janitor was ready for it though and he spun quickly, grabbing the man by the back of the neck as his stumbled pasted.  Before their very eyes Quinn and Sean witnessed the crazy man get taken to the ground and restrained with ease.

They continued to watch Mr. Wallace struggle futilely for what felt like hours until the police came.  The crazed teacher was put in cuffs and statements were taken.

They were brought to the hospital for testing, although both of the boys were fine thanks to the janitor, they police felt the need to be thorough.

It was later that night, almost morning when the boys were informed of the body found behind the school, about half a mile into the woods. It wasn’t confirmed yet, but with Wallace’s confession and the boys’ statements, it was assumed to be Jacob Smithes’. It was over.

“You found me” Ghost said once the police left the hospital ER. He looked to the boys with awe, and love. Smiling gratefully as he slowly disappeared.

That’s the last they ever saw of Ghost. Quinn was devastated, losing his best and only friend for so many years.  It was tough, but with Sean there to pick up the pieces he could cope.
