Hendrix said as he handed me a ginger tea.
“I did some research and I found out that ginger is the best treatment for indigestion.”

Kinuha ko naman iyon sa kanya at uminom. Humupa naman ang sakit nung makainom ako nang kaunti. Nang matapos ang shoot ay dumiretso ako ng ospital mag-isa para magpa-konsulta. I really hope that it’s just a symptom of my unhealthy diet, but it turns out that I will be surprised after knowing my real state.

“T-this can’t be true, Mr. Roselion. The medical results confirmed that you’re… five weeks p-pregnant,”
My personal doctor confessed.

My whole world shattered upon hearing that from her. This can’t be true! How is it even possible for me to get impregnated by a mere human? Is Hendrix an Alpha? But how? Omegaverse has vanished for a long time, and as far as I can remember, I’m the only one left.

Buong buhay ko’y nangarap akong magka-anak pero hindi ko akalain na matutupad na ito ngayon sa wakas! Halo-halo ang emosyong aking nadarama. Masaya ako pero hindi mawala sa akin ang takot na baka hindi ko ito kayanin mag-isa.

I wiped my tears hurriedly when I saw Hendrix from the hospital’s parking lot. It seems like he’s waiting for someone, so I distance myself from him. My feet stopped moving when he shouted.

“My Lioness, saan ka pupunta?! Kanina pa kita… hinihintay.”

Andrix, your dad is referring to me, right?

Yes, the baby inside my womb is named Andrix. That’s the combination of my name and his father’s. My hands trembled when he finally called my name.

“Arioch! My Lioness, the one with the most beautiful face in the world! The one I’d like to date! The one with whom I want to share my future! Yes, I’m calling you!”

Humarap ako at mabilis na tumakbo palapit sa kanya. I gave him a tight hug and cried heavily. I have never felt so happy when someone called my name except now. Hearing him say it with his delicate voice is music to my ears.

“L-let’s date, Hendrix.”
I said between my sobs.

For the sake of our baby.

He kissed my temple.
“Remember my promise, that my heart will never beat for anyone else but you? It’s still the same for now. I pine for you, Arioch.”

Nagkalat ang samut saring damit sa kwarto habang naghahanap ako ng susuotin sa first date namin. Hindi naman ako maarte sa damit pero gusto kong paghandaan ang pagkikita namin ni Hendrix. Hindi na kasya sa akin ang ilan kong pantalon dahil sa umbok ng aking tiyan.

“Ang taba ko na! Ang pangit ko na! Hindi na ako sexy! P-paano ako magugustuhan ng Daddy mo, Andrix?!”
I stressfully talked to myself in front of the mirror while rubbing my big tummy.

Pagkatapos nang mahaba kong pagda-drama ay nagsuot nalang ako nang maluwag na damit. Bumaba na ako sa ground floor ng hotel nung matanggap ko ang text ni Hendrix na naghihintay na siya sa parking lot.
Napasinghap ako nung abutan niya ako ng lemon juice na nakabote.

“I know you don’t like flowers, so I just gave you a fruit drink for your tummy.”
He darted his eyes at my stomach.

I covered it with my hand when I noticed he’d been looking at it for a long time.
“H-halika na!”

Hendrix’s lips parted.
“Halikan na? As in… dito mismo?”

I hit his broad chest when I realized what he meant.
“Alam mo? Ang manyak mo. I said let’s go!”

I was having a daydream when I noticed someone was staring at me.
Kinusot ko ang aking mga mata at nabigla nang makitang kanina pa pala huminto si Hendrix sa labas ng isang mansyon. Walang dudang sa pamilya niya ito nung matanaw ko ang isang matandang ginoo na kamukha ni Hendrix.

That’s his dad, right?

“B-bakit tayo nandito? Akala ko ba date lang? Bakit nandito tayo sa inyo?!”
My voice raised.

Hendrix touched my face.
“Relax, my Lioness. My parents are big fans of you, and I already told them that we’re… dating.”

Mabilis kong ininom ang lemon juice para kumalma ang aking puso. Ano pa nga bang magagawa ko, ngayo’t nandito na kami? Karapatan ko rin naman sigurong makilala ang lolo at lola ng anak ko. Mahigpit akong nakakapit sa braso ni Hendrix nang makapasok kami sa loob.

“Belinda, nandito na si Arioch!”
Di makapaniwalang ani ni Mr. Silverio.

Matanda na ito ngunit hindi mapagkakaila ang angkin nitong kakisigan. Lumabas mula sa kusina ang isang marikit na ginang. Ang kanyang ngiti ay kasing tamis ng ngiti ng kanyang anak. Inalis niya ang suot na apron bago ako niyakap.

“Sinasabi ko na nga ba’t mas maganda ka sa personal, anak.”
She mumbled while resting her chin on my shoulder.

Anak?
She called me her child even though we’re not related. After hearing that, I suddenly felt a pang in my chest. I missed my late parents so badly. I hugged her too and started to cry. Her warm embrace makes me remember how my mom hugged me before.

“Alam mo ba, Arioch, ikaw lang ang nagpatino dito sa anak namin? Napakarami mong mga pictures sa loob ng kwar-”

Hendrix yelled to make his dad stop speaking.
“D-dad! Baka isipin naman ng Lioness ko na baliw na baliw ako sa kanya…”

Mrs. Silverio laughed.
“Bakit, anak, hindi ba totoo?”

Sa buong hapon kong pananatili sa kanilang mansyon ay hindi ako nakaramdam ng pagkailang. Mas tinuturing pa nga nila akong sariling anak kesa kay Hendrix. Napuno ng tawanan at kwentuhan ang buong mansyon ng mga Silverio.

Nang matapos ang shooting ng aming pelikula ay doon ko lang siya sinagot. It wasn’t an easy journey before I realized that I fell for him. He’s very caring and he keeps checking my condition as if he knew that I was pregnant with his child.

“Pumasok ka na,”

“Hindi. Hihintayin muna kitang makaalis.”

“Hindi ako aalis kapag di pa pumasok,”
Hendrix murmured, while pointing his index fingers together.

Ilang minuto na ang nakalipas nung ihatid ako ni Hendrix sa hotel. Nandito kami ngayon sa labas ng unit ko at nagtatalo kung sino ang mauunang umalis sa aming dalawa. Akmang bubuksan ko na ang pinto nang bigla niya akong yakapin mula sa aking likuran.

“Lioness, are you sure you won’t go tomorrow? That’s my birthday.”
In a sulky tone, he said.

I held his hand that was wrapped around my waist.
“Sorry, I feel so tired. I don’t think I can go there tomorrow.”
I lied.

“Hindi nalang kaya ako mag-celebrate? Mag-date nalang tayo dito sa unit mo. Aalagaan kita.”
He suggested.

I hit his arm and turned my face towards him.
“Hindi pwede!”

“W-why?”
He scoffed.
“Why are you getting angry?”

”

Because I planted a massive surprise at your party,”

I said in my mind before I shook my head.”

Wearing a bloody red tailored suit that was made by one of the greatest designers, I walked inside the venue. It was already 9 pm when I arrived, so I wasn’t shocked to see a lot of visitors in the Grand Oxford Hotel. Most of them are well-known personalities, such as my co-actors, models, managers, and reporters.

“Oh? Look who’s here! The most anticipated visitor, Arioch Roselion!”
Jessica exclaimed before she sipped on her glass of wine.

Venice gave me a glass too.
“Bakit naman hindi pupunta si Arioch? It’s his man’s birthday, so he must be present.”
Sabay silang nagtawanan.

Hindi ko nagugustuhan kung paano nila ako ipahiya lalo na’t maraming nakatingin sa amin. Bahagya kong sinaboy ang wine na hawak ko sa kanilang pastel gown kaya sila napahiyaw.

“Oops, sorry. The wine isn’t good for me, so I spilled it in the trash.”
I said, in a most sarcastic tone.

“How dare you?!”
Akmang susugurin nila ako pero hindi nila iyon nagawa nung marinig ang aking pagbabanta.

“Don’t forget that a lot of medias are here, and it won’t be good for your image to fight with someone who’s higher than both of you.”
I said, while referring to myself.

Pilit akong ngumiti habang nakaupo sa center table. The flashes of cameras are distracting me, and I’m almost losing my patience waiting for the party to start. I wandered my eyes around the classy party, but Hendrix was nowhere to be found. There were a lot of screen monitors where our movie was being flashed. My eyes widened when I saw Clarissa wearing a silky black dress from afar.

“Akala ko ba… h-hindi ka pupunta?”
Clarissa asked after she seated on the chair in front of me.

I clasped my hand under the table.
“My presence is needed at this party since the celebrant is someone… very special in my heart.”

Ang spotlight ay tumutok sa gitnang parte ng entablado. Ang lahat ng bisita ay masigabong nagpalakpakan nung makita si Hendrix na lumabas mula sa backstage. He’s wearing a black groom’s wedding suit that matches his sculpted body. I couldn’t help but bite my lower lip when he smiled at me.

Mr. Silverio cleared his throat before speaking into the microphone.
“Good evening, ladies and gentlemen. Tonight, we will celebrate the 25th birthday of my greatest son, Hendrix. I hope you enjoy the night, and I would like to express my gratitude to Arioch, who’s here with us despite of his health issue. Thank you for coming, everyone!”

Hendrix kissed me on the cheeks before he sat beside me.
“Akala ko talaga hindi ka pupunta, Lioness ko?”

I hugged him tightly, causing the other ladies to roll their eyes.
“Why would I do that? Later, I have a surprise for you, so kindly wait for it. You’ll surely like it, my King Lion,”
I whispered.

Nang magsimula ang mabagal na kanta ay agad hiningi ng ilang kalalakihan ang kamay ng mga babae para isayaw sa gitna. I gulped when Hendrix stood up and offered his trembling hand to me. I let out a heavy sign before I took it. The crowd gave us the space in the center, making the moment unbelievably true.

“My Lioness, what are your thoughts about… m-marrying me?”
Hendrix’s voice broke from nervousness.

Our bodies were too close to each other, and I could hear the drumming sound of his heart. I looked at Clarissa, who was now throwing death glares at us, and gave her a playful smirk. She’s undeniably jealous, and I could sense it even from afar.

“Will I marry you? Well… are you really sure about me?”
I whispered near his ear.

He rested his chin on my temple and hugged me so tightly.
“Of course, I’ve never been so sure, except for my feelings for you.”

I gritted my teeth upon hearing that. Hendrix and his sweet talks always make everyone fall for him. I hadn’t answered his question when the song changed. Everybody changed their partners, and I’m now dancing with Syrus, an aspiring celebrity who just started his career a year ago. I know he likes me even if he didn’t say it. He’s so easy to read.

Syrus’s hand instantly wrapped around my hips.
“Hi Arioch, I never thought that I would be given a chance to dance with you in this lifetime.

”

Si Syrus ang kaharap ko pero ang aking mga mata’y nakasentro kay Hendrix na ngayo’y kasayaw na si Clarissa. Mapapansing ingat na ingat si Hendrix na hawakan ang kahit anong parte ng katawan ng aking kaibigan. Bumalik ang aking atensyon kay Syrus nung halikan niya ang noo ko.

“I’m sorry, “A-arioch. I didn’t mean to-”

I hissed.
“That’s fine, Syrus. That’s just a peck; it’s not a big deal. It’s not like I cheated on someone just because of a mere kiss.”

Confusion is evident in his eyes.
“W-what do you mean, Arioch?”

“Do you love me?”
That’s more of a confirmation from me than a question.

Syrus didn’t waste any more time and answered me bravely.
“I do, Arioch. I really love you!”

Binigyan ko siya nang matamis na ngiti.

The whole venue lost its lights after I heard the promise of Syrus. All of the screens and monitors changed their clips. The visitors gasped in surprise when the video started playing.

“Ugh! Fuck! Baby, you’re so tight!”

“Hmp! Please give it to me all! You’re so freaking big! Ugh! Make me pregnant, Hendrix.”

“Baby, A-are you sure you won’t tell my… Lioness about this?”
Hendrix nervously asked.

Clarissa rolled her eyes.
“Of course, I never treated Arioch as my friend, and I’m not dumb enough to confess that his boyfriend is my fuck buddy.”
She bravely uttered before pushing her body down to meet Hendrix’s.

Napapangiwi nalang ako habang pinapanood ang surpresa ko para kay Hendrix. Akala ba nila’y hindi ko alam na matagal na nila akong niloloko? Hindi ko lubos akalain na ang sarili ko pang kaibigan ang siyang ta-traydor sa ‘kin. Bakas sa mukha ng mag-asawang Silverio ang pagkadismaya matapos mapanuod ang malaswang pag-iisa ng dalawang taong malapit sa puso ko.

Hendrix let go of Clarissa and ran towards me.
“L-lioness, this is not true. S-someone framed me up. I would… n-never cheat on you.”

Tears rolled down his cheeks. He looks so pitiful, but I can’t feel any sincerity through him. He bent his knees while holding my hands, not minding the visitors who were looking at him disgustedly.

“Please, believe my heart, my lioness. My heart will only beat for you.”
He begged.

“Hahahahahahahahahahahahaha!”
I laughed evilly, which enveloped the whole venue.

I snapped back to reality when Clarissa slapped my face.
“Ikaw yung may kagagawan nito, hindi ba? Paano mo nagawa sa ‘kin to, Arioch?”

Patuloy lang ako sa pagtawa. Ang kaninang pandidiri at napalitan ng takot. Akmang sasampalin ako ulit ni Clarissa nung dumaing si Hendrix.

“Ahhh! Fuck! I… c-can’t breathe!”
Namimilipit siya sa sakit habang hawak ang kanyang puso.

Agad naman siyang nilapitan ng mga bisita at ng kanyang mga magulang. Namumutla ang kanyang mukha at naghahabol siya ng kanyang hininga. Napahiga siya sa malamig na sahig dahilan kung bakit sumigaw ang mga tao.

That night, on his 25th birthday, was the night Hendrix’s heart stopped beating. The moment he broke his promise that he would never cheat, was the moment my curse took effect on him.

“Andrix? Hey, who told you to sleep, baby? ”
I whispered when I noticed he was not responding to my story anymore.

Muli kong hinaplos ang lapida ni Hendrix bago hinalikan ang pisngi ng aming anak.
“Thank you for giving me a child, Hendrix. Did you know that our son is the last Alpha in this world? He just didn’t know, but he’s a dominant one just like you.”

The night that he died was also the moment that I found out that the father of my child was an Alpha. When Hendrix’s heart stopped beating, I felt the bond between us had broken. I experienced losing myself when he left this world. I was severely depressed and wanted to end my life, but I retreated because of my son and for a certain someone who helped me heal and get through my suffering.

“Honey!”

Pinunasan ko ang aking mga luha nung marinig ang boses ni Syrus sa ‘di kalayuan. Tumakbo siya palapit sa amin ni Andrix at binuhat ito. He gave me a soft kiss on the lips that made me blush in surprise.

Yes, Syrus and I are now married, and my curse didn’t kill him because he’s exceptionally faithful to me. He accepted my child, and we have been a family for five years now. Clarissa, on the other hand, has a pregnancy issue. That’s why she and her new husband didn’t have a child up until now.
Hopefully, they will never have one in the future.
