Chapter Track: “Bad Decisions”~Ariana Grande
~Jude~
"So, you know how you're supposed to slur when you're drunk," my friend Payton mumbled to me as we laid back on my bed, staring up at the ceiling after a long day at school. I studied the swirling patterns of the white roof and gave a quick
'uh huh'
absentmindedly.
"What if that's like, talking in cursive or something," He said and I paused my breathing for a moment, glancing at him from the corner of my eye before sighing. It's best not to comment on these types of things when it comes to Payton. He's a, well, special thinker.
"No really, think about it!"
I am thinking about it but I'm also thinking that you're just the smallest bit insane
.
Of course I didn't
tell
him my thoughts, instead settling with a tightlipped smile and nodding.
"See that's what I love about a mute friend, they never tell you when they think you're an idiot," Payton chuckled to himself, sweeping his long, ginger hair to the side and I smiled, shaking my head.
"I'm not
that
mute," I whispered, my voice raspy from lack of usage, and he shrugged, slightly curving the left side of his mouth upwards.
"Eh, you might as well be Judey-boy. You're pretty damn quiet," He responded, crossing his arms behind his head, and I squinted my eyes before sighing. He was right, what's the point in arguing?
"But that's not necessarily a bad thing. I mean, look at me. I'm a loudmouthed, self-proclaimed badass and I'm always getting into trouble with the 'rents. You, on the other hand, haven't even seen the slightest moment of a time-out," He added and I smirked at him, causing him to glare playfully.
"Well, evidence shows that you are prone to being a more rambunctious individual opposed to myself, who is of a more, structured personality," I said and he stared at me for quite some time before sighing and rubbing his face in agitation.
"See that's your problem, most of the time you don't talk but when you do, I can't understand you," He said, chuckling with his hand on his forehead and I laughed quietly. The orphanage certainly wasn't the best place to spend my time growing up, but the immense amount of free time was more than adequate for reading. So, once I paved my way through the orphanage's small amount of books, most being aimed at the younger children, I moved on to the largest book we had; the dictionary. I was just about to explore the thesaurus when Mr. Anderson and Mr. Thompson adopted me.
"Yes well, years in an orphanage will do strange things to you," I told him and he shrugged nonchalantly. Payton had been one of the lucky ones, escaping the system almost instantly. After only being trapped for five months, he was adopted by Dakota and his boyfriend.
"Yeah, that makes sense. Um, if you ever wanna talk about it-"
"No thank you."
"Yeah, I expected that," Payton sighed dejectedly and I frowned deeply, sitting up to look him in the eyes.
"Yeah, yeah, I know. You've never told anyone about it but c'mon Jude, we've all seen the scars," Payton said angrily, his volume getting louder, while raking his hands through his hair in frustration.
"Yes well, they don't seem to be of any of your concern," I said, my voice rising as well, much to my throat's disdain as the strain hurt my vocal cords. Payton turned towards me, anger and hurt shining brightly in his deep cerulean eyes, before he let out a mocking laugh.
"Yeah, you're right. It's absolutely of no concern to me that my
best-fucking-friend
is sitting around with a hoodie on all the time because his arms are so marked up with damn cigarette burns that he's too embarrassed to be seen without it. Too embarrassed to go swimming. Too embarrassed to change in the the locker rooms. Too embarrassed to take off his hoodie in the middle of ninety-
fucking-
degree heat," He shouted, abruptly standing up from the bed and glaring down at me with his fists clutched tightly at his side.
His muscles, constructed from years of pitching for baseball teams, were tensed and his 6'2" frame towered over me as his eyes gleamed down with frightening fury. I felt myself shrink under his intense gaze, shivering slightly despite knowing he would never intentionally harm me.
Seeing my reaction, Payton sighed deeply, shaking his head from side to side. He reached a hand out and I flinched backwards against my will, breaking his heart further. He licked his dry lips as he stared down at me with pained eyes and he rubbed the back of his neck.
"C'mon Jude, you know I'd never hurt you man. I'm sorry, okay? Fuck, I'm so sorry," He repeated apologetically, rubbing at his face, probably feeling even more frustrated, but I just stared at him silently, keeping my knees drawn up to my chest as far as they'd go.
'Knock, Knock'
Our eyes were drawn to the bedroom door as it creaked open and Mr. Thompson sheepishly peeked his head inside, waving just before Mr. Anderson charged into the room and crossed his arms, glaring harshly at my red-headed friend.
"Payton, we think it's time for you to go," He said, struggling to contain the rage in his voice as he jutted his thumb to point out the door and Payton nodded, walking towards the exit.
"I really am sorry Jude," he said, opening his mouth as if he had more to say before shaking his head once more and leaving the room. I stared at the location at which he had been just moments ago with regret until I heard a small cough come from my still opened door. I glanced up at Mr. Thompson as he smiled softly, concern sparkling in his eyes.
"You okay Jude? If you need to talk-"
"I'd rather be alone, thank you Mr. Thompson," I said quietly and he sighed quietly, looking up at Calixto for help.
"Okay Jude, just know that we're here for you. No matter what," He finished, ushering a protesting Mr. Thompson out of the room and shutting the door closed behind them. I stared at the now closed door and sighed, laying back on my bed.
It was obvious I was troubling everyone with my presence and my standoffish ways. Payton's just trying to be protective of me the best way he knows how but I'm not interested in being protected if it means sacrificing my privacy, and he knows that. Mr. Thompson and Mr. Anderson always seem a bit upset with me when I don't treat them like parents but they don't realize how much of a blessing that truly is. I would never want to give them that title in a million years, they didn't deserve it.
"No one does," I mumbled to myself before going to my room's bay window, the air in the room suddenly feeling hot and sticky. I opened the window and a cool breeze immediately blew inside, the fresh scent of spring flowers wafting through along with it. I inhaled deeply, relaxing in the gentle moonlight and jumped as I suddenly heard the sound of something clattering around at the bottom of the two-story house. Normally, human instincts would suggest that an animal was the culprit of the foreign nighttime sound but being in the suburbs, I didn't think it was too valid of a theory, especially considering the minute a raccoon or a possum manages to slip into "human territory" they either wound up inside a cage in the back of a van or under its tire as roadkill.
"Hello," I called timidly, my voice wavering slightly, and my eyes raked over the entire lawn fearfully. I slowly bent over, leaning my head outside the window precariously for a better look. As time passed, the only sounds to be heard were the light chirping of crickets and the sound of cars going down the road. It seemed as if whatever was out there, was long gone by no—
"Hey there cutie."
"Oh my-" I was suddenly shushed as lips connected to mine and a hand wrapped around the back of my head as some strange guy in a black hoodie hoisted himself inside, pushing me onto my bed.
"Pretty nice place," he commented, winking after looking around the room as I stared up at him in absolute shock, my mouth completely agape.
'C'mon Jude, say something! Scream! Alert help!'
My thoughts were racing as fast as my heart as I laid on my bed, frozen in fear and surprise. I blinked repeatedly to make sure what had happened, had actually happened. As soon as what happened was confirmed in my mind, I wiped at my lips furiously, trying to rid myself of the stranger's taste as he stalked around my room, picking up my things and observing them before putting them down.
'So, obviously this guy isn't a murderer, considering I'm still breathing at the moment. And he must not be a burglar, since he's not taking my things. Well, unless my stuff's not good enough to steal.'
"Get out," I whispered, catching his attention, and he smirked, walking closer to me, his black, leather boots clunking against the floor as he moved towards me with confident strides. The moonlight illuminated his body, he was built with muscle which made him even more intimidating. He was as tall as Payton, if not taller by an inch or two, and the piercing in his nose glistened and sparkled. The small, black guages hung in his ear, adding even more to his threatening disposition.
"Ha, so he does speak. I was beginning to hope you'd try and scream again just so I could "silence" you again," He said, finishing with what he probably considered to be a charming wink, and I hugged my knees to my chest. By this point, I could now make out his styled hair and his blue, maybe green, eyes as he drew nearer and nearer to myself.
"But, I must admit, that after all that waiting, alls you've got to say is "Get out." Nah, see, I'd much rather hear something else coming out of those sweet lips," He whispered, still trying to charm me into submission, and I narrowed my eyes at him, not buying his sweet talk one bit. If this was going to be my last day on this Earth, I didn't want it spent as an idiot.
"Yeah, I'd much rather be hearing you say "yes," the stranger told me, coming to a stop just inches away from me before leaning down to where our eyes were perfectly aligned. I could now see the brilliant, jade eyes he sported, as well as smell his
somewhat
irresistible cologne.
"To what," I questioned and he placed his forehead against mine, his breath dusting over my lips again. He smirked, getting on top of me and looking down into my eyes. My lips twitched as he drew even closer, subconsciously wanting to have their second kiss, but I withheld the temptation as he licked his own pair just before they parted as he began to speak.
"Help me."
Woohoo! And now the story can really begin! So you’ve met Jude, I hope you love him as much as I do, and Payton! I’m so happy to finally get to share this story with you all! Thanks for reading!

Chapter Track: “Trust” ~Justin Bieber
~Jude~
"Help you? With what?"
He smirked, his eyes gleaming with playful mischief in the moonlight, and he pulled away from me slightly, causing my body to shiver from the absence of warmth.
"Well Cupcake, you're going to find me a place to stay," he whispered and I paused, staring at him with disbelief clearly written on my face. He chuckled and held up his hands defensively with a slow, nonchalant shake of the head.
"Course, you could always
not
do it."
At that, I nodded rapidly, standing from the bed to usher him out the window so he could return to whatever shady alley he slithered his way here from. He simpered and put his hand behind his back before pulling a gun, a dark grey pistol, from his back pocket, aiming it at my chest without so much as a blink. I flinched and stepped backwards, feeling queasy as dread suddenly washed over my body.
"Aw Cupcake, you didn't let me finish. I leave, I'm taking you with me. One way or another, and to be honest, I'm leaning on you being in a body bag. So, what's it gonna be? Let me hide out here or dig your own grave, literally," He questioned, tilting his head to the side with yet another of his Prince Harming smiles. I couldn't answer, more terrified to use my voice than ever and he sighed, stepping closer. For every step he took, I took two steps back until my body collided with the wall and he swooped in on me, placing the gun under my chin as he leaned his face closer to my own.
"Now, I don't want to have to put a bullet through that beautiful face of yours but you're making this difficult."
I licked my dry lips, my eyes looking everywhere but at the man in front of me, and he chuckled before throwing his gun onto my bed where it landed with a soft thudding sound. He chuckled and gripped by chin with his thumb and index finger to make me look at him as he spoke.
"So, threatening your life isn't enough huh? Well, I guess I'll have to take a different approach then won't I? Tell me, did you enjoy our little kiss from before?"
Yes.
"No."
He smirked, pinning me to the wall with his warm body and I sucked in a quick breath. He chuckled at my pathetic front and leaned in closer.
"Oh c'mon Cupcake, just say yes."
His breath dusted over my lips, sending shivers up my spine and throughout my body. His arms encircled my waist, pulling me closer to his chiseled body and as I raised my hands to his chest to push him away, he entwined them with his own before placing them on either side of me on the wall behind us. He pushed me further against the wall and inserted a leg between my thighs, lowering his head to my neck. His nose rubbed against the crook of my neck, causing my breath to run ragged. I bit my lip to keep my moans of pleasure silent as he placed one single kiss between my earlobe and neck.
"You know you want to."
And the worst part was, just how much I really did want to. My head was abuzz with conflicting thoughts that clashed with each other every nanosecond. My mind was raging and ranting about how this guy was shady as hell and a probable convict whilst my heart, along with my lower half, wanted me to take the risk, see where this would lead. Being the hormonal teenager I am, I disobeyed my mind.
"Fine, I'll help, just please get away from me," I whispered, trying to free myself of his close proximity that only contributed to making my mind more and more hazy. He smirked, kissing my cheek once with lingering lips before pulling back and flashing me another dazzling smile.
"I knew you'd see things my way Cupcake, now, where's my new digs," he questioned, freeing me from his hold and I chewed my lip nervously, hastily glancing around my room before he decided to use more "incentive" against me.
"I have a feeling you don't talk much, do ya?"
I answered his question with more silence as I pointed to the walk-in closet, causing him to shake his head lightly with a dry, sarcastic chuckle.
"Yeah, right. I think you can do better than that."
I mentally rolled my eyes at his pickiness and continued to rack my brain for any ideas as to where this scoundrel could rest and leave without anyone noticing. It had to be a place that my parents wouldn't normally be around on a daily basis so that rules out every room but my own and the basement.
"Be quiet and follow me," I whispered, slowly pulling my bedroom door open. I poked my head out into the hall and panned my eyes left to right until I heard the telltale sound of Mr. Anderson's snoring, confirming that they were both asleep. I cautiously stepped into the hallway, tiptoeing out as the stranger followed me, gun clutched tightly in his left hand.
Please don't wake up, please don't wake up.
"Hey Cupcake, personally I'm loving my view right now but would you mind hurrying it up?"
I paused in my actions and turned around to see the stranger grinning wolfishly as his eyes darted from my rear up to my eyes and I felt as heat crawled its way up my face.
'Ugh, the dog.'
"Hold your horses," I whispered, shuffling my feet faster like I'd seen in spy movies and I heard him sigh, taking normal steps, his heavy boots clunking against the hardwood floor.
"Look Double O' Seven, this is really cute and all but I'm minutes away from putting my foot so far up your ass that it'll take a whole team of surgeons to remove it. So, I suggest we hurry the fuck up."
My eyes widened at his statement and I rushed through the house, avoiding everything that would cause too much noise like the creaky floorboards and the baby toys Uncle Dakota bought for me before he realized I wasn't going to be a baby but instead a sixteen-year-old male. Yet another disappointment for me to add to the chalkboard.
We snuck through the kitchen and headed straight for the white door that led downstairs. I turned the golden knob slowly, as to not alert the sleeping men upstairs with the annoying creak the old door commonly emitted.
Once it was finally opened fully, I held the door open for the stranger and he peered inside before staring at me with expectant eyes. I motioned with my hand for him to go down the steps that led to the dark basement below and he scoffed quietly.
"Yeah, no. You're coming with me. I can't have you blabbing to your parents without me knowing."
Darn it, so there is a brain in that head of his. Who could've known?
I groaned softly and steadily started down the white carpeted steps first, all the while feeling his eyes burning into the back of my head. The darkness surrounded us just as he closed the door with a gentle click. I held my arms tightly to myself, crossing them over my chest as my eyes darted from side to side in a frenzy. The deafening sound of my heart hammering away in my chest only added fuel to the fire as we descended further into the basement. I held my breath as we got closer, and closer until sudden clanking of pipes made me squeal a bit, jumping slightly, which drew a few quiet chuckles from the man behind me.
"Ha, scared of the dark I'm guessing."
Ugh, hear it comes. Just go ahead and let the teasing commence.
"Yeah, I understand. My sis used to be scared of the dark, she used to always carry glow-in-the dark stickers in her My Little Pony purse. Ha, I remember this one time-"
Being too busy listening to the mildly interesting tale, I failed to realize that I had managed to run out of stairs. With a gasp, I tripped forward, my ankle twisting slightly as I lost my balance. I flinched, readying myself for the harsh impact and the all too real possibility of having to swallow my own teeth as the ground drew nearer and nearer to my face.
As time went on, I wondered just when the floor would decide to meet my face in an embrace but it seemed like minutes had passed since I began to fall. I peeked an eye open to see my face just inches from the floor and I rose a brow in confusion.
'That's strange. Newton's Law of Gravity clearly stipulates that I should've been making a few donations to the tooth fairy by now.'
"My arms are getting tired Cupcake."
That's when I screamed and launched out of the stranger's arms. I leapt across the room as he stared at me with what I could barely make out as a smirk in the darkness. He flipped the light switch, almost blinding me.
"Y-you just-"
"Saved your dental record? Yes, yes I did. You're welcome."
"No! You just ground against my— my, you know," I stated furiously, forming fists as I narrowed my eyes at him. During my little spill, he had somehow managed to grab me by my belt loops and pull me against him. That wasn't the worst part, no, the worst part was feeling his crotch against my rear.
"Oh just chill out, will ya Cupcake? I'm a gentleman, I'm not going to ravage some guy I just met. Even if he does have one of the best asses I've ever had the pleasure of grinding against. And trust me, I've ground against plenty of asses in my seventeen years of living," He said, winking with a wolfish smile, and I recoiled in disgust.
"Ugh, you're disgusting."
'Did I just say that out loud? Fuck, now I've gone and done it. Goodbye world, it's been a fucking hell of a time.'
"Ha, as if I haven't heard that one before."
'Huh. I'm still alive. Weird.'
Silence soon fell upon the room as the stranger stalked around the basement converted activity room, observing the different aspects the room had to offer. A flat screen mounted high against the wall equipped with surround sound, a tan couch resting on top of a furry, white rug, a fireplace tucked nicely into the corner, and smaller couches placed neatly around the larger one in the middle. The room was also equipped with a red, limited edition Wii, a billiard table in the back, a ping pong table to the far side, and a small bar and liquor cabinet for when Mr. Anderson and Mr. Thompson invited all of my uncles over.
"Wow, pretty nice digs you have here," he said, sitting on the couch and putting his arms behind his back. I ignored his comment and stared pointedly at his dirt-covered boots with disdain. He rose a brow and groaned, rolling his eyes before pulling them off and tossing them to the side.
"There. You happy now?"
"Don't get angry with me. You're on a white carpet, do you know how hard that is to clean," I scolded, picking up his boots with my thumb and index fingers before placing them in the far corner of the room, next to the sliding glass door just in case he decided to leave early. Well, hopefully if he decided to leave early.
"No. I wouldn't know. I haven't been pampered my whole life," He mumbled and I froze, my blood running hot at the comment but I sighed deeply, biting my tongue before I let something slip.
'Why of all the insolent, despicable, discourteous-'
My thoughts were interrupted by the sound of whistling and I turned around to see the stranger peeling off his clothes. I watched intently, mouth agape, as his arms grasped the edges of his shirt and he pulled it over his head, the muscles in his back moving in a hypnotic fashion.
I opened my mouth further to stop him but I found my voice being caught in my throat as he reached for his belt, the clinking sound tickling my ears as he pulled it free of the loops. I gulped as his fingers found the waistband of his jeans and he pulled them down, revealing tight, black boxer shorts.
I tried once again to force myself to say something, anything, but instead all that came out was-
"Hurrgh"
'Ah yes, very intelligent Jude. There's a man that's tall, sun-kissed, and sexy as the fiery depths of hell stripping in front of you and you decide to practice your dying mule interpretation. Pure genius.'
"You okay back there Cupcake?"
'Dang it. Brain don't fail me now.'
"Uh huh," I mumbled dumbly and walked back over to the couch, focusing my eyes everywhere but at his- Is that an eight pack?
"Heh, my eyes are up here. But hey, if you want to keep drooling over them, I don't mind," He said, grinning cockily and I blushed, pursing my lips together in a thin line to keep from embarrassing myself further.
"I was not drooling. I was merely pondering over how unsanitary it is for you to be sleeping on my couch in your undergarments," I tutted and he laid out along the length of the couch, arms behind his head as he yawned, crossing his legs.
"Yeah well, get over it. Just be happy I decided not to sleep in the nude tonight," He purred, winking, and I turned an ever deeper shade of red before settling in the recliner furthest away from him. He grabbed his gun and tucked it behind him before turning his head toward me.
"No funny business, right?"
I nodded, yawning, and he stared at me long and hard before relaxing into the couch once again and shutting his eyes. I sighed and buried my face deeper into the recliner, hugging my legs close to my chest.
"Hey kid."
I lifted my head from the recliner and bit my lip before whispering,"Jude."
He turned around to face me, the lights illuminating his face and his several piercings as he stared at me with a puzzled face.
"Huh?"
"My name, it's Jude," I repeated and he nodded, a small smile stretching into his face.
"Okay Jude, I'm Kallahan. Anyways, I wanted to tell you thank you. I know you're scared and all but please try to trust me until morning. I promise that I'll explain myself the best I know how. I am
really
sorry to force myself on you like this but-" he cut himself off with a short chuckle, "- it's all I knew to do. It's a lot for me to say this to you but, I'm begging you, I need you to trust me."
At that last statement, he turned back around and laid his head against the red throw pillows, closing his eyes.
"Night Jude."
"Goodnight Kallahan," I whispered, blinking my eyes a few times before shutting them slowly. I didn't know what exactly was going through my head when I decided to do the one thing I hadn't done in years. I don't know why I did, all I truly know is that he radiated danger from every pore of his being and yet, his eyes expressed emotions that I haven't seen since my days in the orphanage. Loneliness, sadness, hopelessness.
That night, I decided to trust someone.

Chapter Track: “7 Years” ~Lukas Graham
~Jude Pov~
"Jude? You down there bud?"
I awoke with a start, hearing the deep baritone of Mr. Anderson's voice boom down the basement and I jumped up from my cozy sleeping space and rushed to the stairs.
"Hey, where ya goin'?"
I cut my eyes towards my uninvited guest and rose my index finger to my lips, telling him to keep quiet before peeking my head beyond the corner of the staircase so the waiting adult could see my face.
I smiled weakly, thinking on my feet, and gave a cough or two before sniffing, "Hi," I mumbled lowly and roughly. Mr. Anderson cringed, squinting his eyes as he peered further into the basement to study my face and I rubbed tiredly at my eyes, trying to further sell my ruse. My palms began to feel moist as the grating noise of my blood pumping began to resemble the sound of a judge's gavel repeatedly smacking against hardwood.
"Are you okay there Jude? You're not sounding too good," He sympathized and I nodded, numbly starting up the stairs, stumbling a bit on purpose. My stomach began to churn with anxiety, my body hating this lie I was weaving.
"I-I'm fine," I whispered before erupting into another faux coughing fit and he grimaced, quirking his lips slightly. His sorrowful eyes pinged my heart, making me feel even worse for lying to the person that took me in.
"No, no you're not. Look, how about you stay home today, 'Kay? I have to get to work at the tattoo parlor and Chess has already gone to the office but I promise when we get back, we'll bust out the snuggies and Oreo ice cream, how's that sound?"
'It sounds like the sweetest symphony to my ears but I most certainly do
not
deserve such pleasantries.'
"Good," I mumbled, quickly turning on my heels to hide my shame, and descended the stairs to the family room below and he chuckled warmly behind me, "Okay then Jude, see ya later buddy. Love ya," He said, uttering the last bit with a caring and earnest chime in his voice, and I paused, turning to give him a small wave and smile. He gave a tightlipped smile in return before gently closing the door, the soft clicking of the door shutting in place resonating in the room.
'I'm a liar. A dirty, filthy-'
"Hey Cupcake, still waiting for an all clear down here."
I pinched the bridge of my nose in frustration before inhaling deeply, stretching my sides with air. I puckered my lips and blew out the "candle," which was just my pinky, like my uncle had taught me. I continued down the steps, hearing as the front door closed, and hugged my arms around myself.
"Cupcake?"
Kallahan's face popped around the corner, concern and worry hidden in his eyes, and I shook my head, briskly walking past him. He rubbed his neck awkwardly, following me apprehensively with an arched brow.
"What's your deal?"
I spun on him and glared with as much disdain as I could possibly muster, causing him to flinch. He recovered quickly and looked around the room, avoiding eye contact with me, "What's wrong? Look, if I did something-"
"
If? If?
You come barreling through my window in the middle of the night, you assault my lips and harass my body with your kisses, you threaten me at gun point to give you residence, and you made me lie to my guardians without so much as a explanation," I erupted and he stared at me with shock scrawled all over his face. He chuckled, adding fuel to the already blazing fire within me, and held up his hands in mock defense.
"Don't bite my head off-"
"Don't test me."
"-I'll tell you."
"What," I breathed out, stunned by his compliance, and he smirked, nodding his head in the direction of the couch before jumping over the side and flopping onto the leather. I pursed my lips, walking around the couch like a civil human being, and sat on the edge of the couch as far from Kallahan as I could be.
A tense silence dawned upon us as he seemed to mull over what he was going to say, I glanced at him from the corner of my eye, watching him stare down at his folded, callused, hands.
"Well," I mumbled quietly, gaining his attention and he breathed out a laugh, running his hands over his face and through his already disheveled hair before looking at me with appraising eyes.
"I know you think I'm a criminal or whatever, most of Seattle thinks the same, but just hear me out. No interrupting," He told me, mostly in good jest if the somewhat playful glint in his eyes was anything to go by but I merely stated back at him, my face entirely placid.
He sighed,"My old man got up to some events when he was younger, those events mostly concerning women. He was notorious around the club scene, if you ever needed him, don't check his house on Malisbury, check the club on 33rd and Main." He scoffed, dramatically rolling his eyes and I smiled lightly, giving a giggle or two which caused him to chuckle before his eyes darkened a bit, " And well, long story short, he raped and drugged and tipsy woman he found in a club. Unfortunately, I was the byproduct of that course of events and everyone and their cousin in Seattle has been waiting for me to slip up and become like him."
He paused, shaking his head as if telling himself he'd never turn out like that. I wanted to comfort him, but I withheld my emotions, settling with giving him what I thought to be a comforting smile. He returned the gesture, looking at me from the corner of his eye before glancing towards the ceiling.
"So, in a way, I guess I did become like him. I was an infamous heartbreaker in Seattle. Sure, I didn't rape anyone but I definitely hurt them with the emotional pain I put them through. I cheated, I played, I lied, and it all came back to bite me in the ass. It was stupid, I should've saw it coming, but no, I had to have her. I dated the Chief of Police's daughter. She was hot and a well known wild child so I went for it. I got it. Boy did I get it," He said with a reminiscent tone in his voice and I hugged myself tighter, attracting his attention. He smirked," Not in the way that you're thinking, we didn't go that far. In the middle of a rather, ha, intense groping session, Chief, or as Danielle called him, "Daddy," Fallon interrupted us." He scoffed at the memory, growing agitated and I shifted on the couch, turning to get a better view of him. His eyes were darker and his face was reddening with anger, his hands tightened in one big fist.
"She said I forced myself on her, immediately getting me in hot water. He couldn't arrest me without proof so I considered that a pretty lucky break until exactly one week later when I was sitting in an investigation room on account of mass drug possession," he paused, gauging my reaction but I had none, growing up around drug abusers in the orphanage, this wasn't a huge issue to me.
"I was framed."
That made my ears perk up in interest, my eyes widened and I stared at him incredulously and he shook his head knowingly as he watched my reaction, already figuring out what was going through my mind.
"Go ahead, think I'm a liar, I don't care. But I know what happened. I don't use cocaine, I don't use any drugs at all! Fallon had my jacket I left at Danielle's and he put cocaine on it from the evidence locker. He knew where I lived because of my mom's rape report and he stashed cocaine all over the place: in the gutters, in the yard, behind bushes, inside a lawn gnome. When I came back from school that day, I was immediately arrested on my front lawn and taken in for investigation. I couldn't afford a lawyer and my mom, never really loving me because I was, and I quote, "the leftovers of her pain and suffering," wouldn't finance one. I was found guilty and sentenced to prison. Well, until I hijacked my transport vehicle and the officer's gun to escape, ending up here." As he concluded his story, my mouth was left agape. He chuckled, reaching over to shut my mouth for me with his thumb and index finger.
"So do you understand now why I acted the way I did?"
I nodded slowly, still processing the newly found information, and he smiled gently, pearly whites on full display. He brushed his thumb across my cheek before removing his fingers from my face, letting them drop to his sides. I watched as a mischievous glint moved into his eyes and I cautiously pushed myself further from his reach.
"I do regret the whole gun point thing but I don't regret the assaulting you with kisses, even if it was just to get on your "good side" I still enjoyed it," he winked, causing my face to redden immediately, and I looked away as he got closer to me. I shied away until he wrapped his arm around my waist, pulling me closer and he tilted his head to get closer to my ear. His breath dusted over my ear and I fought to keep control of my body as his teeth tugged on the flesh.
"You remember this right?"
At first I though he meant the pleasurable feelings he gave me but I soon felt a hard prodding in my side and I gasped, looking down to see the barrel of a gun. I nodded slowly. He
smirked, "I've been out of bullets for two days, it's not even loaded."
I gasped, pushing him off of me, and stood from the couch abruptly as he laughed obnoxiously before standing to his feet as well, hugging me tightly to his chest in apology.
"Sorry."

"Oh my fuck! Mr. Popular would you please deactivate the bomb that is your phone!"
Toothbrush in mouth, I glared at Kallahan's back as he tied on his boots, getting ready for our trek to the outskirts of town where an abandoned campsite lay desolate and forgotten, and grabbed my phone to see the forty-second message left by Payton. I rolled my eyes and spat out the toothpaste into the nearest trashcan before reading the latest text.
'Jude, c'mon man, please answer. I'm worried about you. You were right, I went entirely too far, I'm sorry. Please, let's talk about this. Love ya Jude.'
"Is that the boyfriend?"
I screamed and fumbled my phone in my hands, catching it just before it fell to the ground. Lying down my phone and toothbrush, I blushed and shook my head quickly at Kallahan's somewhat prying question.
"N-no! He's my friend," I mumbled and he nodded, grabbing my phone to scroll through the mass of messages sent by Payton. He chuckled, "Could've fooled me," I rolled my eyes as he breathed a laugh.
"Oh please, oh please forgive me Jude! I'm begging you, take me back! I'm a shell of a man without you my darling," He said, mocking Payton in a high-pitched voice, and I sighed, snatching the phone from him before jamming it into my back pocket.
"He doesn't sound like that," I murmured and he arched a brow with a cocky smile playing on his lips,"Oh yeah? Check message twenty-four."
Seeing the horror-filled expression on my face as I quickly grabbed for my phone, he guffawed, holding his sides before swinging a tattooed arm around my shoulders.
"Your face was priceless. He didn't send anything like that but seriously, the dude seems just the slightest bit needy," He said, shrugging and I ducked out from under his arm. He grinned and bent down to grab his, well technically
my,
duffle bag filled with necessities: first aid kit, canned goods, can opener, batteries, flashlight, blankets, pillows, an inflatable mattress with air pump.
"And you aren't? You leapt through my window and begged me to help you, sounds pretty needy to me."
"Oh so the mousy Cupcake has a fiery side, I like it. And touché," He chuckled, opening the sliding door, and we walked outside into the backyard. I locked the door behind us and inserted my hands into the warmness of my hoodie's pockets.
"I still can't believe you're wearing that fucking thing. It's like seventy degrees fahrenheit out here! You're gonna get a damn heat stroke."
I looked up to see concern-filled emeralds beaming down at me and I shrugged, shaking my head. He sighed but didn't push it and we began walking through the woods behind the house, heading towards the mysterious campground that was at least three miles away.
"Hey uh, so this is really nice of you man. Most people would've called the cops on my ass by now but you, you're cool about this whole thing," He mumbled and I nodded numbly, feeling it unnecessary to comment. A breeze blew through the leaves, casting small shadows on the ground to shift as the soft crinkling of leaves filled the silence.
"I've always loved fall."
I glanced up as Kallahan started to talk once again,"It's always so beautiful. It's a time of change and who doesn't love a little change? Ha."
I looked around at all of the different leaves, some green but most were a variety of color's from scarlet red to golden yellow to dull brown. I smiled, watching as a leaf fell from a tree, blowing in the breeze before landing on the ground with the rest of its warmly colored companions. Nature is truly a beautiful thing.
"I remember when I was younger, always thinking that the trees were dying in the fall but it was all really just a part of-"
"-Photosynthesis," we said at the same time and he smiled, nodding his head. I felt as my face started to heat up but I choose to blame the reaction on the chill the breeze brought with it. I watched out of the corner of my eye as he tensed before nudging my hip with his hand, pointing further into the woods.
"Look, it's a fawn," he whispered into my ear and I gasped, watching as the small, spotted deer playfully chased after a monarch butterfly before tripping and falling into a pile of leaves. I giggled at its clumsiness and it's ears perked, turning towards us before dashing away in a flurry of erratically maneuvered limbs.
"He was so cute!"
I covered my mouth, blushing from the base of my neck to the tips of my ears in embarrassment at my outburst.
'Did I just-'
"You squealed? You fucking squealed! Damn Cupcake, just when I think you can't get anymore adorable, you go and prove me wrong," He chuckled, reaching over and removing my hands from face with gentle fingers.
"You don't have to hide, I don't bite. That is, unless you want me to," He whispered slyly, biting the air for dramatic effect, and I hastily dropped my gaze to my beaten up converse before he could see the reaction his statement had on me as we continued marching our way through the leaf-covered ground.
"So what's the deal with your parents?"
I raised my head slightly, looking up at Kallahan through my eyelashes and he stared back at me intently.
"What do you mean?"
"You don't seem all that close to 'em. It's like, they reach out, but you pull away. Why," He questioned, ducking under a tree branch that I had no problem walking under, and I shrugged, walking a bit faster as if to run away from the impending conversation.
"Hold up, I won't bug you about it. If it's anyone that understands parental trouble, it's me. Just, look, if you ever feel the need to vent, my door's always open."
"You don't have a door, you don't even have a house yet," I joked and he snickered, catching up to me and rubbing my shoulders.
"Ha! Well shit, you got me there! Now we should prolly hurry up, don't want you having to go back home through this forest at night," He murmured, quickening our pace once again and I nodded, somewhat in a daze from the clean smell that Kallahan radiated.
"Did you use the body wash in the shower?"
Kallahan paused and flashed a charming smile, giving a nod, "Yeah, your folks have good taste. What, was I not supposed to?"
"No, no, it just smells really good," I whispered embarrassedly and he slightly tilted his head to the sky, laughing before looking back down at me. "Thanks Cupcake. I like that hazelnut body wash you use, reminds me of my time working at a café."
"You worked at a café," I asked with wide eyes and he smirked, nodding. It wasn't the fact that it was a café that shocked me, it was that fact that someone had
hired
him with such a reputation.
"Yeah, it was pretty chill. I loved the environment, you know? So quiet and serene. Well, it
was,
until girls started to recognize me from the club two blocks away. I loved flirting with them in that crowd of moving bodies and blasting music but that's what the atmosphere called for at the time, inside that café, I was different," He left off, seemingly staring at nothing as we continued our journey and I nudged him with my elbow for him to continue. He snapped out of his reverie and peered down at me with a small grin.
"Fine, fine, I get your hint. Well, I didn't feel the need to get their numbers or even get their names to be honest. All I wanted was to serve them their coffee as fast as possible just to get them out of my face quicker," He laughed and I giggled along with him before snorting accidentally. He threw his hands up in the air, letting them flop to his sides as he groaned.
"You're getting cuter by the minute! I swear, my heart can't take all of this, try to dial it back a bit will ya."
I tried to withhold my amusement but failed miserably as the giggles and snorts leaked their way through my covered face. Once again, he groaned but this time it was more endearing as he uncovered my face, holding my hands in his.
"God, you're just too much," he husked, pushing a lock of my hair out of my face before moving away from me, walking towards the camp once again. I stared after him, shock written clearly on my face.
"C'mon, don't fall too far behind. We still have a bit more ground to cover before we reach camp," he shouted over his shoulder and I quickly snapped out of my stupor, rushing to catch up to his rapid pace.
"So, tell me about yourself."
Looking up at him, I raised a brow before shaking my head and lowering my gaze to the ground once again.
"C'mon, I told you my whole life story-"
"I didn't ask you to."
"Cold. But still, it's only fair I get a little info on you."
I sighed, "I have blue eyes."
He narrowed his eyes playfully before stating in a mocking dopey voice, "Really? I had no idea."
I cracked a smile and he laughed along side me before bumping me with his hip, causing me to stumble a bit before righting myself.
"But seriously, tell me something, I don't know, deep about yourself. Like, something you haven't told anyone else. I told you about my batshit crazy mother, my sex-loving father,
and
my being on the run from the Seattle police; I think I deserve to know
something
about you," He said and I shrugged, causing him to sigh disappointedly.
"Well, can you at least promise me that when you're more comfortable with me, that maybe you'll share a secret or two?"
I stopped walking all together, looking at him with an incredulous look as he stared back with a hopeful smile, and I tucked a lose strand of hair behind my ear before saying,
"Why does it matter so much to you?"
"Because, you're so mysterious that it's confusing. I never know what to expect so I'm on edge all the time. You're like a rubix cube, or maybe a game of chess," He mused, ending his thoughts with a gentle hum before pausing in his tracks as we came upon clearing.
"Is this it?"
I peeked out from behind the tree limbs that were obscuring my vision and took in the abandoned site. Dry, cracked ground with weeds summed up the camp's rugged terrain. Six wooden cabins aligned in a half circle surrounded a rusting flag pole that towered over the camp like a beacon.
"Well, let's check it out. Shall we?"
I felt a hand brush my own and I peered down to see Kallahan's hand out-stretched towards me invitingly. I bit my lip to contain my smile and slid my hand into his, unbeknownst to the angry vibrating of my phone.
"We shall. And I promise."
Aww! I’m loving this story, hahahaha! I hope you guys are enjoying it as much as I and I hope to see you soon! Bye bye!

Goosebumps
– wether from holding Kallahan's warm hand or from the eerie silence surrounding the abandoned camp site, I didn't know.
"Damn, it looks like an apocalypse around here," Kallahan mumbled, trudging his leather boots through the dust-covered ground with a wary, frowning visage. I hummed in response as we continued on, walking towards one of the closer cabins; a raggedy cabin with a screen door struggling to hang on with its worn hinges. A damaged, eroded plaque lay discarded on the ground, mostly likely torn from its positioning above the doorway of the cabin by a storm.
Our footsteps clunked noisily the entire way up the creaky, wooden, moss-covered staircase until we stopped in front of the doorway. The outside may have looked apocalyptic, but the inside of this particular cabin looked like it was struck with Thor's very own hammer. Repeatedly.
"What the hell happened here?"
Kallahan voiced my thoughts exactly, minus the profanity. Bunk beds–crushed like sandwiches. Nightstands and dressers–crumbling and splintered. Mirrors and windows–shattered along the floor. The repugnant stench of mildew wafted through the air, assaulting our senses, whilst the autumn breeze made floating dust particles dance in the sunlight and the bedsheets sway mesmerizingly like wispy phantoms.
"Fuck, this is just great, just my shitty luck, huh? We walk God-knows how many fucking miles into the depths of nowhere, only to find some kind of ripoff Walking Dead film site!"
Kallahan's grip on my hand turned fierce and I clenched my mouth shut to keep my hiss of slight pain inside as he seemed to grow angrier and angrier by the second. His veins throbbed and his face started to turn a violent shade of red as he mumbled profanities to himself under his breath. I hesitantly lifted my free hand and rubbed his shoulder, trying to calm him as best I could and he snapped his head around, glaring at me with emotion akin to hatred. I blanched, retracting my hand quickly and his eyes softened as he sighed, rubbing the bridge of his nose.
"Look, I'm sorry, okay? Let's just go back, I'll let you go and you can rat me out or whatever. I'm tired of running anyways," He groaned, starting to walk down the old staircase again but I planted my feet, making him pause at the tug on our still attached hands.
"Cupcake?"
"No."
"Wait, what?"
"I said– no. We haven't checked all of the cabins yet and even if they're all as crummy as this one, we'll fix it up for you. You're not going back," I stated firmly and he stared at me with amazement, awe, and something close to respect.
"And even if I wanted to turn you in, I couldn't."
"Let me guess, you've fallen in love with your captor in a wonderful display of Stockholm Syndrome," He smirked cockily and I cut my eyes at him, causing him to chuckle.
"If I did decide to turn you in, I'd be in just as much trouble. I'm aiding and abetting a criminal, am I not," I said matter-of-factly before walking towards the next cabin. The outside of the second cabin didn't look much better than the first, except for the plaque that was still hung above the doorway with an unreadable inscription. Forest green weeds and winding vines covered the cabins patio, an overgrown rose bush overtook the side banister whilst poison ivy had made its way around the perimeter.
"Watch your step Cupcake, that shit's a real pain in the ass," Kallahan said, leading me carefully up the steps before we came to the vine covered screen door. I sucked my teeth at the minor inconvenience and as I looked to Kallahan for his reaction, my jaw dropped to see him pull a rather large pocketknife from his pants' pocket with a somewhat feral smile.
"What? You expect me to just walk around with an unloaded gun and
not
have an actual weapon for defense? I may be a lot of things, and I mean a
lot
of things, but I'm no fool," He said, winking at the end, and I watched as he sliced through the thick foliage blocking our path before opening the slightly scarred screen door. He bowed, waving his hand towards the now opened door and grinned mischievously, "After you, Your Majesty."
Poshly, I turned my nose up and attempted strutting inside, receiving a chuckle or two from Kallahan as I did so, and paused as I took in the room that seemed trapped in time.
"Guess you were right, huh? This one doesn't seem too bad, a bit girly and pink, but beggars can't be choosers am I right?"
Girly and pink was an understatement. Boy band posters littered the hot pink walls at obscure angles, a salmon pink couch sat in the center of the room on top of a watermelon colored carpet, fluffy throw pillows and magazines depicting fashions from decades ago lined the couch from end to end, and one king-sized bed with pink striped bedsheets sat directly behind the couch, a space of about six feet between the two pieces of furniture. While not very "manly" by Kallahan standards, the room was livable at the least but that wasn't my main concern, no, my main concern was why. Why was it so livable? Why was it still in such good condition when the last room was in shambles? What happened here?
"Maybe the storm just missed this cabin," Kallahan voiced, apparently sharing the same train-of-thought as I, but I shook my head in disagreement.
"No, there's no such thing as a picky storm. Whatever happened here, there's no fathomable way that it was natural," I mumbled more so to myself than Kallahan and let go of his hand to look outside at the other cabins for any visible kind of damage.
As my eyes caught sight of a group of small, circular holes in the windows of the cabin across the camp, I gasped quietly. Those holes– those perfectly edgeless holes, were all too familiar. Those holes, those exact holes, I used to see daily on the outside of my room in the orphanage. Those holes, manufactured with the most acute of accuracy and the most hardened of hearts.
My heart sunk to my stomach when I noticed Kallahan tentatively reach into the nearby dresser and pull out a full pack of bullets with a curious look,
Those holes, were
bullet
holes.
"Ka-kal- Kalla-," I stuttered, my grip on the doorway tightening to the point where I could feel small splinters prodding at the tender palm of my hand. My breathing halted in my chest as I remembered the earsplitting screaming I used to hear late at night, the unbearable sounds of rapid gunshots and windows shattering, the terror I felt in my heart as blue and red lights danced on my walls and the obscure, human shadows that stalked along with them in the darkness of my room.
"Cupcake! Cupcake! Damn it, Jude!"
I could hear him in the background, screaming out for me but I couldn't find myself to care, I was fighting for my life it seemed. My breathing became erratic and out of control, my chest squeezed and tightened like a serpent had wound its way around me and refused to let go, my anxiety grew and grew until–
snap.
"Jude! Jude! Calm do-"
He was cut off by my scream, no, my
howl
as I cried out for relief, for comfort. I clawed at my chest, trying to free myself of the fire within, but it was to no avail as the fire began to burn with even more intensity. I felt trapped, imprisoned within the steely confines of my own body. And I wanted out.
"Jude! Fuck," He shouted and soon, I felt as I was falling to the ground below but I was caught at the last minute by gentle hands. I was lowered to the ground but I continued to fight. I screamed and swung my arms wildly, clawing at my nonexistent enemy with a feral fervor akin to that of a cornered wolverine. I fought harder as my wrists were grabbed, becoming pinned behind my head on the wooden floor. I kicked and screamed as a weight fell upon my torso and a gentle hand tried to force me to look into brilliantly verdant eyes, eyes filled with worry and concern. Eyes filled with
lies.
"Jude, it's okay! I promise, I'm here and I'm not leaving. Let me help you, please just let me help you! Calm down, breathe in, breathe out," Kallahan coaxed, breathing in and out slowly, urging me to follow his instructions. I hesitantly complied, breathing slowly, deeply inhaling the oxygen rich air around me. The tightness constricting my chest loosened and the burning subsided, my eyes blinked, once, twice, three times; before I was back.
"Hey there Cupcake, glad to have you back," Kallahan whispered, wiping my tear-stained cheeks and I pushed him off of me swiftly, causing him to gasp and groan quietly in pain.
"What the hell-"
"Thank you."
I cut off his profanity as I hugged him tightly, not caring that I was practically in his lap. I wrapped my arms around his neck, hugging him with as much force as I could muster to express my great deal of appreciation. I felt as he hesitantly hugged me back, wrapping his muscled arms around my waist and rubbing my back tenderly.
"Anytime."
And there we have it, the secret’s now out. Our Jude has PTSD; and before you ask; No, it’s not set off by guns or even bullets for that matter.

Hi guys! I’m so happy with all of the comments left on the last two chapters but I am a tad confused XD, why exactly have comment levels dropped? I’m not sure if it’s a good thing or not but most of you have stopped commenting on this story so I’d like to hear your honest opinion on why. I look to your comments for motivation so due to the lack of comments, I have a lack of motivation. It’s kind of a 50/50 deal with me; I know, it’s weird af but that’s how I am. So please try to comment, I don’t really care about votes or sharing this book with a friend–since I know most of you won’t anyway–but a comment really makes my day a lot better! Thanks!
Chapter Track: “All Time Low” ~Jon Bellion
~Jude~
"Fuck, what time is it?"
I fluttered my eyes open at the groggy, sleep-filled voice of Kallahan as he stirred from underneath me and I shifted closer, pushing my head further into his neck with a hum.
"Jude."
My eyes began to droop before closing once again.
"Jude."
My breathing slowed as I took a deep breath, inhaling the refreshing scent of wood, pine to be precise, and the cheap cologne of which I had become so accustomed to.
"You're going to be the death of me, you know that right," Kallahan mumbled, standing to his feet with my body still wrapped around him like a cotton towel after a warm shower. I hummed in response and he groaned, walking outside of the pink cabin, his boots clunking lazily against the wood.
As the chill of the night air touched my skin, goosebumps began to form and I sprung from Kallahan's arms, clutching my arms closer to my body. The already eerie campground was now covered in shadows, obscure and abstract patches of darkness that swayed to the ominous tune of the autumnal wind. The tip of the flagpole glittered brilliantly, glistening under the moonlight as if recently polished. I stared at it in amazement, the emitted golden beams of light entrancing me with its beauty.
I jumped as my phone began vibrating in my back pocket, causing Kallahan to instinctively reach for his pocketknife before calming, his hand resting just over the knife's bolster. I smiled sheepishly and gripped my phone in my hand before pulling it from my jean pockets. As the lock screen's light shone upon my face, my grip on the device turned fierce. I suddenly felt fifty degrees colder. Kallahan was instantly by my side, his eyes narrowed in concern.
"Jude? What's wrong?"
I felt his hands pry my phone free of my tight grasp and as the light ghosted over his features, his eyes began to steel themselves.
"Let's go."
I struggled to catch my phone, clumsily bouncing the device between my hands before it could hit the ground, as he silently stalked into the darkness filled woods; no sign of slowing down. I slid the still buzzing piece of technology into my back pocket before rushing after him, twigs and low hanging branches scratching my skin at every angle.
"I'm sorry," I whispered into the night, causing the blurry, distant form of Kallahan to pause in his motions before continuing his storming through the woods, not even flinching as leaves and branches scraped against his jacket clad body. I trudged after him, climbing over an immense fallen log before stumbling forward and gripping the sturdy trunk of a nearby tree. I cringed as splintered pieces of bark dug into my palms but I ignored it, brushing my hands against my jeans before rushing after Kallahan once again.
This continued for what seemed like hours until we came upon a clearing, a rolling hill with puffy dandelions decorating the land, he stood atop the knoll and glanced down with a peculiar solemnity that made me frown. I cautiously stepped closer to him, making my way up the side of the hill, dandelion puffs fluttering aimlessly around me before a breeze carried them through the woods.
"It's not your fault kid."
I watched Kallahan carefully as I approached him, his figure standing tall and strong as the breeze blew through his chestnut brown locks. He hung his head. I stared at him, my mouth hanging open in anticipation, until finally, my eyes witnessed what caused his mood to sour.
Just through another plot of thick woods, bright lights of blues and reds could be seen. My breath hitched in my throat– he really did it.
"I didn't know he'd really call the police–"
"Of course he did. He cares about you. Look, this is as far as I'm going, who knows how many cops there are scouring these woods. You need to go home and I need to lay low until the heat cools off. Broken promises or not, this has to be–and will be–the last we see of each other, you got that?"
I stared at him longer, my body growing colder, and colder, and colder, until finally, I nodded solemnly. I wordlessly shifted my eyes from his, and started down the dark, grassy knoll. My shoes trampled upon the puffball dandelions, sending small, white flecks into the air around me. With my fists clutched tightly to my sides, I cut through the familiar woods that laid just behind Mr. Anderson and Mr. Thompson's home.
"Got it."
With the stars and the trees as my witness, I didn't chance a look behind me. I didn't want to see those compelling green eyes, or that feathery hair that never ceased to amaze me during our short time together. I didn't look back.
As I approached the sliding backdoor of the home, I was immediately surrounded by a swarm of officers, each firing questions rapidly.
"Where were you?"
"Who were you with?"
"What happened to your clothes?"
"Can you explain the scratches?"
The questions seemed to come faster and faster, all blurring together in a whirlwind of inquiry until,
"Let the kid breathe."
At the sound of an authoritative, deep baritone, I watched in wonder as the sea of prying officers parted instantly; leaving only one officer at the entrance to the circle. A towering figure, commanding attention and submission, stalked deeper inside the circle, eyes narrowed in my direction. His badge shone brightly under the moonlight, sparkling boastfully as if nature itself was succumbing to his dominance, only existing to highlight his authoritative presence. His black boots trampled upon the leaf-covered ground as he leisurely made his way toward my cowering being.
As he came to a pause in front of my face, hands behind his back and chest proudly thrust forward, was when I saw
it.
There, on the right side of his uniform, was tagged "Fallon," in bolded, embroidered, crimson red letters.
"He's had a rough day, haven't you kiddo?"
I remained silent under his piercing gaze, jamming my hands into the pockets of my hoodie and lowering my eyes to the ground below.
"We can question him in the morning if you'd like."
I looked up to see Mr. Anderson and Mr. Thompson watching me intently. Tears stained Mr. Thompson's cheeks as he clung to Mr. Anderson's arm for support. Mr. Anderson stared at me analytically before sighing and shaking his head, "No, that won't be needed."
A sigh of relief escaped my lips.
"Your son just stumbled his way out of the woods, bloodied and bruised, and you don't want to do an investigation. Seems a bit ludicrous," Chief Fallon inquired with a raised brow and Mr. Anderson turned toward him with a glare that could freeze Hell.
"You take care of your affairs and I'll take care of mine. What's my family's business,
stays
my family's business."
Chief Fallon's stern gaze never faltered at Mr. Anderson's show of aggression but instead he smirked snidely, motioning for his men to clear out. Heavy stomping ensued as the officers left the yard, marching towards their vehicles, whilst Fallon stayed behind, exchanging glances between myself and my guardians.
"Well, as long as this "family" of yours continues to just be your business, I'll steer clear Anderson. But, the moment it becomes
my
business, don't expect me to be quite so,
civil.
Have a nice night."
And with one last demeaning look cast over his shoulder and a wave of his right hand, he swaggered his way to his car before speeding off into the night.
"We need to talk Jude."
Ignoring Mr. Anderson, I brushed past him and Mr. Thompson, going through the sliding glass doors and running up the stairs before they could ask what happened. I wasn't ready to talk, albeit I was never ready to talk but this time, I wasn't ready to
attempt
talking. Who knows what atrocities might spill from my mouth at this moment? So once I finally reached my bedroom, I shut it quickly and locked it. Not even seconds later, banging erupted from behind it as Mr. Anderson shouted for me to "Open up!" and "Talk to me!"
"I can't," I whispered to myself, sitting on my bed, and stared out the window. The window that started it all. The window that brought
him
into my life.
My phone buzzed to life in my pocket and I pulled it free to see over seventy messages and calls. All from either Mr. Anderson and Mr. Thompson or, like the most recent ones, from Payton. I glared at his self-inserted contact name, "King of Hearts," as I reread the text that set my heart on the decline.
'Look, I'm really sorry Jude but now I'm starting to get really worried. You've never missed school before and when I called Mr. Anderson to see what was up, he said you were sick. I went to check-in on you but you weren't home, I called your dads and they said to call the police. Jude, whatever's going on, please don't be afraid to talk to me. I promise, I'm here for you. You're my best friend, I care about you. If you read this message, I better damn see you tomorrow or there may just be hell to pay. Love you Jude <3'
Fed up with hollow words and empty promises, I locked the windows; both literally and metaphorically.
And there you have it folks!
Hope no one out there is too angry with me haha and don’t worry, this isn’t where our story ends! It’s not even close! Anyways, thanks again for reading and I hope it was as enjoyable for you as it was for me! Until next time, Brendan Out!

Chapter Track: “The Greatest”~Sia
~Jude~
Music blaring. Eyes unfocused. I leaned back in the bus's brown, leather seat and clutched my bag closer to myself. The rapidly changing scenes of the outside world entranced me as I stared at the window, pointedly ignoring the stares and whispers surrounding me, the stranger on the bus.
The bus bumped and shook along the woodsy path leading to school, the roof stereos blasting the same tired tunes from months prior. The odorous smell of cheap cologne, like that of dog urine, and sickeningly sweet flowery lotion was an absolute assault on the senses; unlike the familiar cheap cologne and pine scent at which I had become accustomed to and somewhat fond of. I turned my music up once more as the other riders took to laughing obnoxiously at crude jokes in an overly orthodox and perfunctory attempt at fitting in.
As cheers erupted from in front of me, I focused my attention to the outside world around the bus. But, once a barrage of circular, tan objects trickled against the glass, I shifted my eyes from the window to the disappointing scene taking place. Young adults, future voters, throwing Cheerios and Doritos out of the window and onto the road. And onto the windshields of cars behind us. The staff's cars. The
principal's
car.
Idiots.
Effectively snapping me out of my judgmental thoughts, my thigh buzzed as I received yet another text from Payton, most likely questioning why I hadn't rode with him to school today like usual. Feeling even less talkative than usual, I ignored the message with a tired sigh.
Soon enough, the journey was over and it was time for me to enter the overly crowded halls of Woodland Summit High, home of the Woodland Reindeer.
Strangely, when I walked through the automatic doors of the school, I wasn't immediately met with the usual sight of bored teenagers, mulling through their morning routine of chugging to-go cups of coffee and cramming for tests they didn't study for; but instead, laughter of onlookers as panicking cheerleaders, donning their traditional red and white uniforms and their not-so-traditional painted noses and brown antlers, rushed around the somewhat humorous scene of Rudy the Reindeer being lifted into a wheelchair and carted to the nurse's office for the sixth time since the school year started. Harsh as it may seem, I chuckled to myself quietly. Due to the incompetent folly of our school's founder, Rudy the Reindeer is insulated with real reindeer fur, with extra fur padding in the hooves. He did this, thinking that it would add to the whole "Reindeer Effect" but instead, due to the Californian heat, the only "effects" it had were rampant heat strokes.
"Ah! Señor Jude, glad to see you're back! Your fellow student artists and I missed you yesterday," Señora Millon, the school's art teacher–or profesora as she liked to be called–announced boisterously as her infamous heels clacked noisily against the polished linoleum floors, drawing unwanted attention to me as I ducked my head with a small wave. She smiled hugely and waved as she pranced by, thankfully taking the attention she drew along with her. Her shoulder-length, black curls bounced behind her as she strutted through the halls with her canary yellow heels, her chin up and her face alight with a youthful glow. Her nails, painted a pale, daffodil yellow, matched her white top well and her black, tight-fitting pencil skirt drew the entire outfit together. She was every teenage boy's wet-dream, well, every
straight
one's at least. Unfortunately, that also includes Payton and being his best friend meant I had the "honor" of hearing about every one of his dreamland affairs with her, including ones that involved not-so-Pg material.
"Jude?"
Speak of the Devil.
"Hello Payton," I mumbled as he came to stand next to me, much to my annoyance. Even though his flaming red hair looked unkempt and wild as if he had spent hours raking his hands through it and his eyes looked especially tired this morning, I couldn't find it in myself to care as all of the rage from the night before started to boil vehemently within me.
"Fuck, you're angry, aren't you," He questioned as we came to a pause next to my locker and I spared him a sideways glance before undoing my combo lock with precision accuracy acquired over my last three years of school.
"Please explain your assumption for I haven't the slightest hunch as to where you are getting such a misconception."
"Every time you're pissed with something, you start using that dictionary you call a mouth and spout out big words and junk. That's not cool man, you know I don't understand! Talk like a B minus student," He huffed, leaning against the sticker covered locker next to mine with his arms crossed. I sighed quietly and grabbed my grey physics binder before shutting the door once again.
"To answer your question, yes, I am "pissed" as you so eloquently stated. Also, it would be most appreciated if you would leave; I do not desire your presence." And with that, I slung my bag onto my shoulders before swiftly turning away from Payton's pained face, stalking through the Winter Wonderland of a school.
Although it was around mid-October, the Woodland Reindeer already had their halls adorned with fake, shimmering snow placed along the borders of walls, plastic, faintly glowing icicles on every door, and glittering snowflakes hanging from the roof with dainty fairy lights strung alongside them.
Turning onto the science hallway, I groaned as the tune of "Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer," blasted its way through the P.A. system. Grunts of displeasure cut through the grating music as struggling cheerleaders attempted to place a Santa hat and elf ears on a skeleton display and climbed on each other's shoulder's to arrange a pair of mock reindeer antlers on the statue of Sigmund Freud, the unofficial mascot for the Psychology department.
I clutched my physics binder closer to myself as I smelt the telltale smell of jocks; nauseating amounts of Axe body spray and overly active deodorant. I sniffed twice for good measure, knowing that normally the science hall repelled the likes of those meatheads but with the "oh-so-perky" cheerleaders here, I guess it was bound to happen.
I scoffed as the skeleton display's head went soaring through the air before landing in the arm's of a loud blond and was quickly tossed to the next set of waiting arms.
"Woo! Keep away from Claire!"
"Guys! Give it back you fucktards!"
I breathed a heavy sigh of relief as I walked into my Advanced Physics class and settled into my desk, a lovely, polished wooden desk with a softly padded, blue rolling chair. Being in a college class had its perks. Another one of them being that there were only three students in the class, including myself. One kept to himself in the corner, reading Machiavelli's "The Prince," through his thick-rimmed glasses and slurping chocolate milk from his water bottle, whilst the other busied himself with organizing paper clips. One might think that he would do it by size, or maybe color, but no, instead he does it by metal type.
"How'd I miss that? There was a sheet metal clip in my stainless steel pile! Ha, I'm such a scatterbrain sometimes."
I released a small, fake, breathy chuckle and he smiled obliviously, braces blinding me with help from the bright sunlight from the window. Long story short, I'm the coolest one here. And that's saying something.
As the clock began to countdown to the start of class, the overwhelming, and familiar feeling of missing something because of absence started to wash over me. I folded my arms and looked around the class again, nothing seemed to have changed. Same dust gathering in the far left corner, same "Science Rocks!" poster plastered in the front of the room, same lipstick-stained portrait of Isaac Newton sitting on Mrs. Kennsworth's desk, everything unchanged. I scrunched my eyes brows in frustration and sighed again, anxiety buzzing through me like bees in a fallen beehive.
I silently stood from my chair and walked toward the bottle of hand sanitizer the Mrs.K kept on her desk and placed a small puddle in my left hand before rubbing my hands together as I thought. I turned around to face the class once again and that's when I noticed the thing I was missing. A fourth desk stationed behind mine with considerable space separating the two. A cough from my left jerked my attention away from the new piece of furniture and I jumped slightly, turning to see a girl with dark, chestnut hair and piercing, yet toying, cobalt blue eyes smirking back at me.
"You must be Jude, I've heard quite a lot about you."
DUN DUN DUUUUUUN!
CLIFFHANGER MUAHAHAHA!
Haha it’s so great to be back at writing again and I hope you’re happy to have me back, puppy eyes! My break was awesome but I missed writing so here I am, glad to see that you’ve all been watching out for updates! Love you guys! Anyway, until next time, Ash out!

Chapter Track: “Centuries” ~Fall Out Boy
Kallahan
Fucking hell.
Bloody fucking hell.
I mentally cursed as the searing pain of a pointed tree branch tore into my bare arms and the deafening howls intensified. I quickened my pace, forgetting the pain of my right arm in the adrenaline rush I was feeling.
Barks and growls seemed to come from every direction in the morning fog, they sounded primal and savage—almost bloodthirsty. Thirsty for my blood. The blood that was currently dripping down my arm at a leisurely pace, taking its sweet time in staining my tanned skin a gorgeous, deep red.
“Fucking hell,” I cursed under my breath as I fell to the ground, smearing the blood on twigs then launching them into the forest in an attempt to throw the creatures off of my trail. I picked myself up once again, kicking up leaves as I trampled through the fog covered forest. My chest heaved as I heard howls of savage joy as the smell of blood struck their nostrils; they chorused in perfect harmony, howling the tune of my death.
I couldn’t see them—but I could hear them as they gained on me, not even the least bit fooled by my half-baked plan. Every ragged breath, every thundering step, every guttural growl they emitted from behind sharp, jagged teeth was imprinted in my mind. I wheezed from the strain on my lungs and coughed, before pausing to lean onto my knees, breathing haggardly.
Three hours.
Three horrible hours of running from these monsters that were obviously toying with me. They knew I was here. They knew I was becoming weak. They’re just playing with me. I smirked coldly—I guess no one told them not to play with their food. No more running.
I pressed my body into a nearby pine tree and took cover behind its needles, slowly sliding my hand under my shirt to grasp at the helm of the pistol. I steeled my gaze as I stroked the cold surface of the gun, the gun I had just loaded with exactly five bullets I had managed to find scattered around the campsite.
The sound of leaves being trampled grew closer as I stared at the fog intensely. I craned my neck from side to side, clutching the gun close to myself with my finger ready on the trigger. I pushed down the growing self-hate for attempting shooting an animal, reminding myself that this was either life or death. Them or me. And right now, dying was not on my agenda.
I halted— the sounds stopped. Literally, it was as if time herself stood still to watch the scene play out. Nothing made a sound except from the heavy breathing of the winded animals behind me and the pounding bass of my heartbeat.
I closed my eyes tightly and listened. Low growls rumbled in the creatures’ throats and seemed to shake the ground with their power, I opened my eyes. In one fluid motion, I pivoted around the tree and commenced the attack. Barks and growls filled the air as I was suddenly met with six, snarling, brown and black faces in blue vests. K-9s. Police dogs. I hesitated, that could only mean one thing. He’s found me.
Unfortunately, using my hesitation to their advantage, the beasts advanced with their fangs bared. I groaned as I was thrown to the ground by two dogs that surprised me by pushing my chest with frightening strength. I hit the ground with a painful thud before backing up against the tree as the dogs closed in. All of them, except for one. One hung back in the pack, watching with calculating and cold eyes. The leader. The Alpha. Our eyes met and I could’ve sworn the dog smirked at me, glad that this was happening. Happy that everything went according to plan.
I shakily held my gun up and the dogs paused, seeing the shaking pistol in my hands. They growled lowly once more and glanced behind themselves at the Alpha, whom was once again analyzing me with cold, brown eyes. The Alpha barked and the dogs lunged, I closed my eyes tightly, firing.
I felt as blood poured down my body, staining my sun-kissed skin and my shirt with the sickeningly beautiful color as it slowly trailed my sensitive skin. I screamed— louder than I had ever before—and felt myself grow colder and colder. I slumped against the tree behind me for support as my energy evaporated into the fog. This must be what it feels like to die. Not bad.
As my tongue crept forward to gently sweep over my bloodied lips, I let one last breath escape my lips.
Wait. I licked my lips again. I didn’t have a cut, or a bite, or a scratch on my lips, why is it bleeding? I slowly and tiredly lifted my eyelids and stared in awe at the sight before me. Five lifeless and still dogs lining the ground. And one living and absolutely livid dog creeping forward.
“Fucking hell,” I cursed, jumping up as he snarled, putting his deadly teeth on display. He hunched over and crept stealthily, his tail swishing over fallen leaves in silent anticipation. His fur was matted with mud and seeds from the day of running, his paws were solid black and he had a left ear to match, his eyes were cold and lifeless, intelligent and calculating. He sniffed the air in my direction with a deep, predator-like growl, his golden badge glistening in the fog.
“Stay there!”
I shouted, holding the gun towards the pissed Alpha K-9, and backed away from him, leaving the former safety of the pine tree. The German Shepherd didn’t falter, didn’t even blink, but instead, flashed me that same doggy smirk from before.
“I’m warning you!”
He tilted his head to the side and continued his smirking, his calculating eyes unwavering as he assessed me with practiced ease. He knew I didn’t have anymore bullets, didn’t he?
“Wh-”
My sentence was cut off as he lunged forward with striking speed, his paws moving like air against the ground. In my panic, I was overpowered by the strength of the dog and pushed onto the base of another pine tree. He snarled and snapped his fangs together before striding confidently to me. I could see the struggle in his eyes, the internal mind struggle he was in. To follow orders or not to follow orders?
Orders were, to keep me stationary and alert the officers with a howl— like most K-9 units. But from the look in the Alpha’s eyes, I could see he was not like most K-9s. He wanted to kill me. To end me right here, right now. To mark his muzzle with my blood like I had been marked myself, with his partners’ blood.
He gazed deep into my eyes, his dark, icy brown eyes never leaving my face. His breath blew into my face and I withheld a cough in fear of setting him off. He analyzed me, snarl ever present on his brown and black spotted face. He took one step closer and I slid away until my back was fully pressed into the tree. I put the back of my head on the tree and pulled my arms back in an attempt to shrink away from the seething canine not even a foot from me. I gasped inwardly as my hand came in contact with my discarded gun. I hastily grasped the helm of the pistol tightly once more, keeping the gun out of the Alpha’s sight as he moved closer. Gripping the pistol with all the strength I could muster— I swung .
Blood coated me once again, splattering onto my face and chest with a ‘smack’ , and I panted as the Alpha hit the ground, muzzle crooked and marked by the pistol in my hand. The Alpha stood shakily and snarled before pausing abruptly. Seconds went by, then minutes, until finally he shook his head, staring at his nose before pawing at it with his huge, black paws as he whined uncharacteristically.
I watched carefully as he buried his face in the blood-soaked ground repeatedly, nosing the dirt and leaves whilst pawing at his scarred muzzle. I stood to my feet hesitantly as the dog looked dazed and confused, walking in circles with his head held high. He growled lowly in his throat once again but unlike the other times, this time wasn’t at me, but at the tree to my far left. He speedily charged toward the thick tree before slamming his muzzle into it, once, twice, three times, before blood was once again oozing from it from his failed attempt at fixing his muzzle. He barked angrily and vengefully at the tree before letting out an ear-splitting howl.
He slowly and unwillingly turned away from the blood-stained tree and glared at me with so much venom, I felt my skin crawl as if sitting in a chemical bath. But, I didn’t dare show him the fear his gaze had instilled in me. Instead, I glared back twice as hard, pistol in hand. He whimpered, cowering and I stared at him coldly.
I raised the gun.
I dropped the gun.
I kicked the gun to the side.
“I’m sorry.”
My gaze never left his as he lowered his head to the leaf-covered, blood-stained, forest floor, saddened by the fact that he would never smell again.
“Guess the jokes on you, now we’re both flawed.”
Wow, uh, I'm sorry guys but I'm still caught up in the moment. I know you guys want me to joke and laugh like the hyper SOB I am but that ending just got to me man! Don't judge! Well do judge, but in the comments please! I really hope you enjoyed this chapter as much as I did! Until next time, Brendan Ash is signing out! Peace!

Chapter Track: "Fools"~ Troye Sivan
~Jude~
"Are you going to say anything?"
I stared blankly at the tanned brunette in front me as she tilted her head slightly with a glittering smile, her eyes as sharp as her personality. Her lips look strained, her cheeks uncomfortable, as she attempted to smile at me. I inwardly scoffed at the pain-induced smile as her eyes begged me to believe her friendly facade. New students were the banes of my existence, that, unlike them, will never change.
"I guess you're not then, huh?"
No.
"Well, this is a bit awkward."
Oh really? I hadn't noticed.
"Is he always like this," she forced a breathy chuckle to the others in the room, trying to lighten the mood, and they stared at her with flushed, blushing faces. I smirked, those guys were such living stereotypes and they loved it. She laughed nervously as their lovestruck faces intensified; they hadn't heard a word she said.
Unfortunately, I wasn't so lucky.
"Well anyway, I'm Dani," she said, holding out her hand with yet another one of her signature fake smiles.
Great. You can leave now.
I stared at the manicured hand with French tips, not a scratch. Not a bruise. Not even the smallest indication of some type of injury from playing as a child. Her skin was flawless and soft, her nails were immaculate. She'd been spoiled rotten. She'd been fed by the silver spoon and the look in her eyes said that she didn't intend on ever being weaned.
I begrudgingly shook the hand, yanking away almost instantly when her eyes brightened, fire dancing in the molten cobalt irises with passion. Her lips twitched into a cruel smirk as she let her hand find its way to her side once again. I swallowed nervously, slowly, narrowing my eyes slightly as she stared back at me.
"Mr. Thompson, Mrs. Fallon, if you would please take your seats."
Mrs. Kennsworth smiled at us as she shuffled to the front of the class, her beehive-shaped, carrot orange hair jiggling slightly, like Jell-O. Dani smiled at me one last time before walking to her seat and sitting down, the old chair groaning in despair.
Dani Fallon.
Danielle Fallon.
~
Kallahan~
"Stop following me," I hissed to the relentless German Shepherd that insisted on trailing me on my return trip to the campsite. He barked in reply and sped up, nipping at my ankle for me to walk faster.
"Go home!"
He stared at me and tilted his large head, trotting next to me in an even pace. I stared back as his head bobbed, tongue hanging loosely on the outside of his scarred muzzle. I paused slightly, shaking my head before continuing my way through the slowly dissipating fog.
"You can't go home, can you?"
He whined softly, not looking me in the eye in an attempt to hold his pride together. I huffed, putting my hands behind my head as I tried to regain my breath from seemingly countless hours of running for my freedom.
"What makes you think I want ya around?"
He stared pointedly at the unloaded pistol in my pocket and I scoffed, rolling my eyes with a ghost of a smile. Smart dog, scary as hell, but smart.
"Yeah, I guess an unloaded gun isn't much help, huh? Maybe I could find
some
use for a dog," I smirked as he barked once again, scaring the living shit out of a group of squirrels that seemed to be meeting for an early morning breakfast. With a wolffish grin, he dashed from my side to chase them a bit, not really attempting to catch the furry critters.
As the fog cleared enough for me to see the campsite's glittering flagpole, I let myself delve into the thoughts from before. Fallon was here. It had to be him that sent the dogs. Only he could hate me so much as to send ravenous, bloodthirsty creatures to apprehend me.
I stared at the creature in front of me as he dopily trotted after a rather chubby looking squirrel and I quietly scoffed to myself, the sound echoing off the trees surrounding the camp. Instantly he became alert, freezing at the offending sound with only his eyes and head moving, panning from the left to the right to survey the area. My eyes widened at the admittedly impressive sight and suddenly the dog didn't seem quite as useless.
"Hell, you might just be worth something after all," I chuckled, stepping into the campsite's clearing. I glanced around the camp, everything seemed unchanged.
No police—good.
I sighed, memories of a cute, doe-eyed, hoodie-clad boy invaded my mind once again for the hundredth time that day as I took in the campsite's desolate terrain. I looked at the weathered, pink cabin that we stood in just moments ago with fondness, smiling slightly. My heart clenched as I started to remember the way he felt securely in my arms, the softness of his feathery hair, the sweet lilt of his uniquely bird-like voice.
"Fuck, I miss you."
A powerful bark sounded from behind me and almost simultaneously a large, furry head rubbed against my leg while a rough, pink tongue lapped at my right palm. I glared at the German Shepherd as he stared up at me with what seemed to be a dog version of a smile.
"Not you!"
With a groan, I wiped the drool-covered hand on my dirt and blood-covered pants. I cringed at my tattered appearance and looked around the camp for a bathhouse.
"C'mon, you're going to guard the outside," I mumbled to the dope beside me as I spotted the bathhouse next to the camp mess hall. It didn't look like much, it was actually rather small, but I didn't care. As long as the water worked, which it probably didn't, I would be right as rain.
"Stay here. Don't move."
The large dog nodded quickly and turned to face the clearing with analyzing eyes, yet again scouring the camp for signs of danger, and a stiff, alert pose, tail stuck high in the air. I pushed open the door of the bathhouse and was immediately met with chilling darkness, I crossed my fingers and felt the wall for a light switch.
Hopefully this works.
I closed my eyes tightly as my fingers finally slid against the surface of the light switch, the lights flickering on and illuminating the floating dust particles. I smiled, this was a good sign. If the lights were on, then maybe...
I threw my hands in the air with a loud
"whoo!"
as crashing, steaming water poured down from a rusty shower head and filled the glass, cubicle-like shower with a warm mist. Going to the wooden cabinets to my right, I opened the bottom cabinet and pulled out a red-colored towel, a round, purple, netted loofah, and
Irish Spring
body wash. I searched desperately for shampoo and conditioner, feeling the need to wash my hair thoroughly but sighed as I came up short on my luck.
Damn, well at least my luck's gotten me this far.
I stripped off my shirt, sighing at the feeling of my muscles relaxing from the simple action. I threw the shirt onto the nearby sink and unbuckled my belt, pulling it free from my jeans before unbuttoning the pants. I tugged them off quickly, along with my boxers, and looked at myself in the mirror with a satisfied smirk.
Stepping into the warm shower, I sighed as the warm water droplets danced across the expanse of my chest, removing the dirt and grime from my time here. The water pelted my chest rhythmically as I flicked open the bottle of body wash and squeezed a generous amount onto the loofah before dragging the bath item across my body with long, even strokes. I breathed peacefully as I allowed my eyes to slowly close, running the loofa over my abs passed my crotch and down my thighs to my feet. I scrubbed as the water pounded against my back, easing the tension in the muscles there.
My back popped silently as I stood straight once again, bending slightly to put my hair under the heated water to rinse out the leaves, dirt, and whatever else might be in the tangled mess. I gently ran my fingers through the hair, teasing it as water cascaded down my face before plopping soundlessly against the now warm tile of the shower.
The steam of the shower wrapped around me in a warm embrace as I pulled away from the stream of water and once again began to drag the soap-filled loofah over my body. I slowed my strokes as the loofah breezed over my crotch, my eyes closing as my mind was filled with alluring images of deep brown eyes, colored like a spoonful of cinnamon.
I lazily dragged my tongue across my lower lip as I focused on rubbing my crotch in small strokes, the mental images intensifying from eyes, to lips, to hair, to hips. I panted shallowly, pressing my back into the wall as water hammered onto my increasingly hardening body.
"Fuck," I mumbled softly to myself, grasping the now hard member and pumping slowly in rhythm with the beating of water upon my body. I licked my lips again, imagining Jude standing in front me with a sultry, begging pout while his hands were the ones pumping me in place of my own. His wet, feathery hair stuck to his forehead as his hand pumped me in long, languid strokes bring me ever closer to my climax.
"Fuck, Jude, baby."
I mumbled incoherently, running the tip of my thumb over the head of my member and flinching at the surge of pleasure. I quickened my strokes as I imagined Jude lowering to his knees, kissing my chest, nipples, and abs on his way down before teasing my navel with his naughty tongue, a devious smile placed on his angelic face.
"Ah fuck," I groaned loudly as I was almost brought to the edge by such a simple image and thrust my hips gently into my hand as I imagined my cock slipping past soft, pale pink lips and diving into the warm, wet embrace of Jude's mouth. His mouth working wonders as he skillfully dragged his tongue along the bottom of my throbbing member whilst bobbing his head beautifully, both of his hands working my shaft.
"Damn!"
I came with a shout, my vision flooding with white as I came along the foggy glass walls, splattering the tile with my cum before it was washed down the drain with ease. I panted, lying against the wall, and let the water pelt me with its warmth. I pushed one hand into my hair and tugged gently at the locks as I looked down at my now deflated member and my cum-covered hand.
"Fuck Jude, what did you do to me?"
Blushes like crazy

I was meaning to ask you all your thoughts on a possible soundtrack for the story since I’ve read a lot of books with them! Tell me your thoughts in the comments! Until next chapter, this is Brendan Ash, signing out! Peace!
Question(s) of the Chapter-
• How was my first sexual scene? If you read it of course! Haha!
• Would you like if I made a kind of soundtrack for the story? Y’know, like selected music for each chapter?

Thank you guys so much for your AWESOME comments these last few chapters! To be completely honest with you all, I was scared you’d hate the smut and I’d have to rewrite the chapter without it! Glad to see you all enjoyed it and that gave me the courage to try more in the future! So yes, there WILL be more intense sexual moments in this story (like planned in the beginning XD)!
SLIGHT TRIGGER WARNING
Chapter Track:“Lost Boy” ~Ruth B
~Jude
~
“Nice dog, good dog.”
I licked my wind-chapped lips as I carefully backed away from the snarling beast. Sharp, very sharp, teeth, cold, piercing eyes that faintly reminded me of a certain pair of melted cobalt irises, and a snarl that would make even the fiercest of animals hesitate were the creature’s weapons of choice.
Without breaking our staring match, I quietly treaded backward with my feet feeling heavier than lead and my hands outstretched defensively. The dog grinned maliciously, a sadistic glint flashing ominously in his eyes telling me that he wasn’t kidding around.
“Kal-”
The dog barked powerfully, cutting me off instantly with a glare that froze me in my tracks. I flinched, gasping quietly and pleaded silently for Kallahan to find me; to still be here.
The dog lunged, tackling me to the ground and I screamed, the action cutting up my throat, as all the air in my lungs escaped in one instant. My back cracked against the solid, dust-covered ground and I winced, grinding my teeth as I closed my eyes. I cowered, hearing the ragged pants of the beast as he clambered upon my chest with pointed claws that prodded my skin through my hoodie.
I turned my head slightly to face the flagpole of the camp as his dog-breath fanned my face, never once opening my eyes in fear that it would only tempt him further. I swallowed slowly, my hands tightening into fists, as the realization that Kallahan had left soon dawned upon me. Suddenly, death didn’t seem so bad.
As the beast tauntingly scraped his jagged teeth against the now exposed skin of my neck, I stifled a gasp. He shifted his weight to pin me down further, to trap me between the ground and his body to end the possibility of me breaking away. I closed my eyes even tighter and ground my teeth together as the seconds began to descend in my mind. 3, 2, 1—
“Down! Now! Get the fuck off, damn!”
At the sound of a shouting, familiar voice, the weight on my chest was immediately lifted and I could breathe once more. My eyes fluttered open slowly to see the dull, grey sky and clouds floating aimlessly through the wind. The majestic and wispy sound of a flag flying in the wind whispered in my ear, calming me further. My body felt so light, so airy. So free.
“Jude!”
There it is again—that voice. That familiar voice. That familiar baritone that I just couldn’t place. I licked my lips once more, tasting the coppery taste of blood, I cringed.
“Jude! Jude, c’mon man! Fucking hell!”
Vibrant green eyes commanded my attention as I looked up at the handsome face of Kallahan once again. I smiled faintly, staring at him as he shouted incoherent babble. I chuckled lightly and hissed as pain coursed through me with the simple action. Suddenly, I yawned as the overwhelming urge to nap dawned upon me.
“Don’t go to sleep Jude.”
Sleep?
“Don’t you dare go to fucking sleep!”
I yawned once more as I was hoisted into a pair of strong arms and carted off toward a nearby cabin, the sound of Kallahan’s boots stomping against the wooden stairs ringing in my ear.
Sleep sounds good.
“What did I just say? Don’t go to sleep!”
Yeah, sleep.
“Jude!”
Shh, I’m sleeping.
Kallahan
“Fuck, Jude!”
As adrenaline coursed through my body like a live wire, I lifted my steel-toed boot into the air and kicked down the locked door to the infirmary with a growl. The sound of wood splintering and rusty hinges creaking rang out through the air before the door fell to the ground with a deafening clatter. I huffed quietly, turning slightly to fit through the doorway with Jude in my arms, and stepped over the fallen oak door, into the abandoned infirmary.
Dust was scattered about, upheaved by the falling of the door, giving everything a dingy, yellowish color. I coughed as I walked forward, my boots clunking on the aged wood and the floorboards creaking with every step. Jude groaned quietly, shifting a bit and I held him tighter in my arms.
“We need to get you checked out,” I whispered to myself more so than him and threw off the dusty covers of a nearby bed. I cringed as I thought of the possibility of bed bugs in the mattress and as Jude groaned once more, I shook my head. His life is more important.
The bed creaked dreadfully as I laid Jude’s somewhat petite form onto the dingy sheets. I gripped the end of his hoodie before pulling it over his head, shaking him awake in the process.
“What are you doing?”
I smirked, containing my laughter as his usually quiet voice ran shrill and the dog from outside howled before trotting in with a dripping, pink tongue. I watched as he visibly tended and scooted farther from both me and the doofus that was currently sat next to me with his drool dripping on my boots.
“We’re in the infirmary, I was going to make sure you weren’t bleeding to death but it was kind of hard to do if I couldn’t see your body. Luckily though, it looks like you fainted from fear, not pain. I guess doofus here scared ya pretty badly.”
He scowled, gripping his discarded hoodie in his pale hands tightly as he trembled. I continued smirking until my eyes landed on the crisscrossing marks along his wrist, leading to his biceps, then up his shoulder. My eyes softened before hardening considerably as my smirk dropped to a frown.
“Jude.”
Innocent cinnamon eyes met my steeled green timidly as my voice came out in a low, almost threatening rumble. He paled, even more than he already was, and clutched his hoodie to his chest tighter. I glared darkly at his arms as he shook like a leaf, causing my gaze to soften.
“Why?”
“Why what-”
“Your arms.”
He paused.
He ran.
“Jude! Get your ass over here,” I growled as I grabbed him by his waist, pulling him away from the doorway, and hoisted him over my shoulder as he beat at my back ruthlessly with his little fists.
“Put me down!”
“No, I think I like you better like this,” I stated smugly, smacking him on the ass for emphasis, and he squealed, tugging at my hair. I hissed in pain and dumped him on the bed once again and pinned him down, the scars on his arms easily visible.
“Let me go!”
“No.”
“Please!”
“No.”
“You don’t understand! You won’t understand!”
“Try me,” I whispered, staring into the same warm, cinnamon eyes I missed so fucking much, and he calmed, panting slightly from his struggle. I watched him intently as his chest heaved slowly through the confines of his solid white tee, slight beads of sweat forming on his forehead and sliding down the contours of his face.
I raised my hand slowly and gently brushed away a stray strand of feathery hair and tucked it behind his ear as he stilled, freezing at my touch. I didn’t remove my hand from his face, instead I cupped his cheek and tenderly stroked my thumb across the smooth, porcelain-like surface in small circles. Awestricken, I watched as sunlight peeked through the grey sky outside and into the dusty room before sliding across Jude’s face. He was beautiful. Absolutely stunning in every sense of the word. From his pink lips, to his button nose, he was a masterpiece. A true work of art.
“Please Jude, I need to know why you would do this to yourself,” I pleaded to him, gripping his hand tightly in mine as a lone tear made its slow descent from the side of my face before landing on his cheek and continuing to the mattress.
“It’s in the past. It doesn’t matter,” he mumbled quietly, his eyes slowly shifting to stare at the tally marks along his arm with sorrow and regret. I sighed silently, closing my eyes before gently pressing kisses up his right arm, starting at his shoulder.
“It matters.”
I whispered against his skin and he gasped quietly, tensing slightly. I pressed a tender kiss to the fading scars, softly brushing the marked skin with my lips.
“You matter.”
He watched me intently with a beautiful blush, his big, brown eyes wide with shock, anticipation, and curiosity as my lips delicately trailed across the once smooth underside of his arm, pressing against every last one of his scars.
“K-kallahan?”
I paused, pressing one last, lingering kiss to the palm of his hand before pulling back to see his face highlighted in the evening sun. The light brought out the pink of his cheeks and the shimmer in his eyes as he parted his lips to speak.
“One hundred fifty-eight.”
“What,” I questioned, stroking his face once again and smiling when he leaned into my touch.
“I counted the months I was orphaned. There are one hundred and fifty-eight marks. Most are healed, some are still there. Each mark reminds me of the struggles of each month. Every torturous interview, every fleeing couple, and every lonely night of crying myself to sleep is documented here on my arms,” he whispered, holding up both of his arms for emphasis before letting them drop numbly to his sides.
“They’re so ugly. I’m so ugly. No wonder I was unloved, I can’t even look at these scars without crying.”
As if on cue, tears began to cascade down his rosy cheeks in long, wispy trails. My breath caught in my throat as I looked upon the angel beneath me, tears streaking down his cheeks in immeasurable amounts before seeping into the mattress.
“You’re beautiful,” I whispered, wiping away his tears before softly pecking his cheeks.
“I’m not,” he mumbled against me and I held his hands in mine once again, looking deeply into the pained cinnamon eyes I managed to somehow fall for. I watched the sunlight dance in them, revealing the darkness hidden within the dark irises. Pain, fear, regret, hurt, every emotion he kept bottled up within his petite body for years was suddenly and desperately crying out. Crying out for someone. Anyone. Me.
“You are.”
With a small intake of air, I closed my eyes and pressed my lips to his, claiming his lips in a gentle, tender kiss. He froze against me as my chapped lips kneaded at his for a reaction. Please, just let me have this.
Just as I was about to pull away dejectedly, I felt a slight pressure being returned and I opened my eyes in time to see Jude’s dark irises flutter shut. I sighed into the kiss, closing my eyes once again as we softly pressed our lips together. I slid my hands over his scars until they came to settle at his waist, his hands shakily resting upon my shoulders. I pulled him closer to myself as the kiss naturally deepened, his body pressed as tightly to mine as his lips to my own. I smiled as I rubbed small circles in the small of his back and he moaned quietly, pushing his soft, pink lips against mine timidly. As the need for air became too much for him, he pulled away, slowly laying his head on the mattress with an embarrassed smile and a blush to match. I grinned, stroking his cheek with my thumb and pecked his lips once more.
“Baby, you’re beautiful.”

# |A/N| Finish writing? Let me know!
Hey guys! Sorry for disappearing like that! I started writing this when I was 16, and I actually deleted the app and disconnected from the entire app completely.
I've realized just how much I missed writing and I would love to try finishing this story! I've gotten a few messages asking about it, but if you would like me to continue writing it, just leave a like or comment and I'll gauge from that! Thank you again guys!
