The Bully’s Brother

Adrian’s POV

High school fucking sucks.

I know it, you know it. Your mom knows it. Your grandparents know it. Especially if you’re the subject to one’s personal amusement via harassment and borderline torture everyday.

But I’m getting ahead of myself. Not really actually. There’s not much in my life either than what’s in here.

I guess I can start to when it all happened. It was your average Tuesday morning. I woke up from another strange dream and showered and put on my clothes. I don’t have much of a fashion sense so my basic outfit is pants and a hoodie. Can’t go wrong with a basic sweater.

I begged my mom not to let me go to school today and added my idea of homeschooling. However, she always says that I need to have a high school experience because it’ll be the best time of my life. Easy for her to say, she was the all-American girl everyone loved.

The dim gray walls of the school were littered with inspirational posters bought by ASB from Staples and poorly made banners advertising their poorly made dances. Seriously, I’m not paying $20 just to stand and drink spiked punch.

First period was normal. Just being assigned to do a group project. Luckily, this teacher also said we can do it alone if we want to. Perfect! Second period is where it all goes to shit. I was having such a great day until he walked in.

“How was your morning, bitch!” Ryan Anderson said. God this fucking guy gets on my fucking nerves. It’s like God got every horrible trait imaginable and put it all together in this guy.

“Fuck off.” I softly said to him. He stopped walking and turned back to me.

“Watch it, pipsqueak!” He seethed out. He couldn’t do anything to me here because he’s on the verge of being expelled.

Despite him being on the football and basketball team, he’s not that useful. He’s disposable and could be replaced with anyone else. But a lot of people still fall on their knees for him because he’s an Anderson. But he’ll never match up to…

Felix Anderson.

He’s the exact opposite of Ryan. Instead, God got every good thing about a person and mixed in sexiness to create him. He’s a senior, while I’m a junior.

Little more on Felix. He once started a protest for our school because the administration banned a girl from wearing a skirt. He came to school for a week wearing a skirt and got a bunch of other people to do it too. He also beat the history teacher in a bench press competition and their entire class was excused from the history final. And a Vogue editor came up to him and asked if he wanted to be in their next magazine.

That last one is fake. But it just explains how legendary Felix is.

The next few periods was me spending time thinking of Felix. In case you couldn’t tell, I had a major crush on him. But so did everyone else. I’m not special.

“Hey, Thumbelina!” Ryan said to me in the locker room. He’s 6’0 while I’m 5’7.

“What, Jolly Green Giant?” I smirked back. Rather than take my insult with a grain of salt, all I got was a punch in the stomach.

“Wanna say that again?” He sneered at me.

“Yeah, BFG.” Another punch caused me to fall on the floor and clutch my stomach.

“Serves you right.” He walked away. He was only wearing a towel and I so badly wanted to pull it down but if I were I think my ribs would snap.

Ryan is clever enough to never hurt me in the face. Otherwise, my parents would see and I would be questioned. It’s always my chest or thighs.

I began to stand up after squirming on the floor. I coughed a bit. Checking the clock, I’ve decided not to change for PE today. I’ll just stand under the bleachers to watch the seniors stretch.

As I stood up, I caught a quick glimpse of him. Felix. His tall figure was easily spotted from the top of the lockers.

‘The fuck?’ I said to myself. Why was Felix watching me? Was he there the whole time, watching me struggle to breathe.

If I can say one thing to Felix, it would be “Put your fucking brother on a leash, dammit!”

I need to get out of this musty locker room cause the smell is hurting my nose. I still don’t know why Felix was watching me. I can still feel his bright blue eyes watching and his black hair drifting in the wind.

Get it together, Adrian!

Adrian’s POV

Mom made meatloaf.

It was good. Definitely needed that after the punches I got from Ryan. Honestly, I don’t even know why he picks on me. I think it started in seventh grade because I had bumped into him and he dropped his Starbucks drink. Since then, he’s kinda been a jerk.

Meanwhile, Felix was always the ‘it’ boy. He had the looks, the athleticism, the attention. He had it all. Ryan is popular because he’s known as Felix’s little brother.

Damn! My stomach hurts so fucking much. I checked in the mirror and saw two large bruises. I guess I’ll have to sleep on my back and risk sleep paralysis.

But, like any teenager, I had trouble sleeping that night. I scrolled endlessly on TikTok and Twitter. I knew my eyes were gonna be sore the next morning. I’m already sleep deprived enough.

I swear I thought I was hallucinating when I got an Instagram message notification. I had to set my phone down a bit and rub my eyes. Sure enough, it was a DM from someone. It’s already odd because I never get messages from anyone.

I definitely thought I was dreaming when I saw who messaged me.

It was Felix. I even confirmed it because of the pictures and amount of followers he has. And plus, I checked and Ryan was following him. It’s legit.

I had to set the phone down and pace in my room for a while, just getting my thoughts together. Once my brain and heart had calmed down, I laid back down and fixed my hair. I don’t know why I fixed my hair, he can’t even see me.

Clicking the notification brought me to the chat. There was the warning that a random account was trying to message me. I accepted it and read his text.

Felix

Hey, Adrian. Can we talk?

He wants to talk!! Shit! About what!? Was this about the locker room? My fingers were shaking when I typed my response.

Me

Sure.

Plain and simple. Not too eager but at least he knows I am invested. Why is he texting me at 12 AM?

Felix

I just wanted to apologize for what my brother did earlier in the locker room. I’ve seen how he treats you. I think it’s fucked up and I’ve talked to him about it :(

Why is he apologizing for Ryan? Can’t Ryan do it himself? And there were many times when Felix could’ve interfered and stopped Ryan. Something fishy is going on here.

Me

Oh, well, thanks. Ryan apologizing himself would’ve been better.

Felix

Yeah, he’s very stubborn.  I saw you wearing a The Office shirt earlier. You a fan?

Oh shit! I thought he was just apologizing! But I think he’s trying to strike up a conversation.

Me

Hell yeah! I’ve watched it over a dozen times!

Felix

Me too! My favorite episode is Jim and Pam’s wedding.

Me

Same. I wanna recreate the dancing scene!

Felix

Which is your least favorite episode?

Me

Oof! That’s easy. Scott’s Tots.

Felix

Really? That makes sense. I kinda like the awkwardness of it. One of my favs :)

Me

-_- not even gonna ask why. Don’t make me strangle you.

Felix

Still think Toby is the Scranton Strangler. You can’t change my mind.

Oh my God, he’s my soulmate.

Adrian’s POV

I have no idea what time it is. My neck already hurts from the position I decided to sleep. I know it’s my own fault because I always manage to find a way to sleep in the worst position possible.

“ADRIAN! YOU’RE GONNA BE LATE!” Mom yelled from downstairs. I swiped my phone from its charging place and checked.

Fuck! Class is starting in five minutes! Well… I’m already late. Might as well take this time to relax. Mom and dad didn’t wake me up because they say I’m old enough to do it on my own. This wasn’t an issue until today.

The realization finally came of last night when I turned on my phone and saw the chat. Nope, I wasn’t dreaming. I actually talked to Felix Anderson. I checked our chat history. It started with an apology, then talking about TV shows, and then with how weird our families are. The last message was of him telling me goodnight with a heart emoji.

Does the heart emoji mean more? No, it doesn’t. I bet he texts like that to all of his friends. It felt nice to finally talk to someone else but myself. I really came out of my shell with Felix. I have no idea how he got my Insta, he hasn’t followed me yet. Maybe last night was just a fluke and will never happen again.

“Late today, are we?” Mom said as I rushed past her.

“No time to talk! Gotta go!” I rushed and grabbed an apple that I plan on having two bites and throwing the rest away. At first, I ran to school but decided to walk the rest of the way.

Entering school, dread took over me. It was already second period, meaning I have to see Ryan again. Everyone in class turned to look at me when I opened the door. I walked to my seat in the back but had to pass Ryan.

I can’t walk past this guy without him hurting me. He flicked his finger and hurt my balls. I had to hold it in and reach my seat to finally groan in pain. It hurt so fucking much but I’d rather keep my pain secret.

Just like the day prior in the locker room, Ryan managed to hurt me a bit. He also stomped on my clothes and dirtied them. So I guess I won’t be changing again.

Felix was once again watching me from a distance. He gave me a sympathetic look. Maybe if he came over and helped me I would feel better but the idea that he kinda cares for me a bit warms me. Look at me, willing to take a beating just for Felix to look at me.

“Hey, sweetie! How was school?” Mom asked me.

“It was okay. Kinda tired right now.” I said and rubbed my right arm.

“Your father is coming late so we might be having dinner without him.”

“Is it okay that I eat dinner later also?” I asked. Now I feel bad cause mom is gonna be eating dinner alone.

“Sure. Just make sure you wash your plate afterwards. Love you.” She kissed my head and went back to cleaning while I ran to my room. My arm was bruised so bad it hurt when I took off my sweater.

My arm was swelling up. I don’t think that’s good. At least it’s my right arm and I use my left mainly so at least I can still do my homework.

Later that night after having dinner with dad, the notification came on my phone. As I guessed, it was Felix.

Felix

Adrian?

Me

Yeah?

Felix

About earlier. Sorry about Ryan again. I swear I talked to him but he’s obviously not that smart.

Me

You got that right…

Felix

I promise I’ll keep trying to get through to him.

Me

Don’t bother. It won’t do much. He’s gonna keep doing it.

Felix

Well, if it makes you feel any better, I was looking forward to talking to you all day.

Me

Really?

Felix

Yeah. Last nights convo was fun. You free right now?

I looked around my room and saw the empty paper that I needed to write an essay about Tom Sawyer.

Me

Yeah I’m free right now.

04

Adrian’s POV

Felix and I were having one of our late night talks, which has become a bit of a tradition for us. At first for the first few days, Felix would start off with saying sorry about whatever Ryan had done to me earlier that day. Then it would converse into chats about anything. But recently, he’s started texting me out of the blue. There’s no reason behind it. It’s like he just wants to talk to me.

And tonight was one of those random nights.

Felix

A, can I be honest with you about something?

Me

Obvi. you can trust me :)

Felix

No, A. I’m serious. You have to swear not to tell a single soul. It’s something I’ve never told anyone before.

Me

I know what kind of stuffed animal you sleep with. You can trust me with anything.

Felix

alright. I’ve kept this to myself for so long and after thinking I’ve come to a conclusion. I’m gay.

Insert explosion sound cause that’s why just happened to my fucking head. I set my phone down, breathing heavily. That’s what it says, right? I’m not imagining anything! It actually says that!!

Felix Anderson is gay. This hot hunk whom every girl has a crush on likes guys!!

Me

Uhhh… Me too

‘Me too’ that’s what I fucking say?? I don’t know what to say to another gay person!

Felix

I already knew you were. Everyone knows.

Me

Wait. How does everyone know?

Felix

It’s not really a secret. Besides… I’ve seen how you look at me.

So he has been watching for a lot longer that I expected. Enough to know that I was crushing on him.

Me

And why are you telling me this? Why not Ryan or any of your football or baseball buddies?

Felix

Cause they’ll never understand. They don’t know what it’s like to not feel normal or like they belong.

Me

And I do because I’m a loner?

Felix

It’s not like that! I also told you because I trust you.

Me

That does make me feel better. How did you come to this conclusion, if I may ask.

Felix

Let’s just say a certain guy has been watching me in the locker room showers and I liked the attention and I may now also like this guy.

Me

Oh cool, so who is it?

Felix sent me a facepalm emoji.

Felix

You idiot. It’s you!!

Oh

Oh

Me

I don’t know what you want me to do about that.

Felix

Then how bout this? Would you do me the honor of being my first boyfriend?

Fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck!! What do I say? The guy that I have a huge crush on just asked me out!! This is like a dream come true. Like some Wattpad story! Of course I’m gonna say yes! I’m not an idiot!

Me

It would be my honor, F.

Felix

That settles it. Meet me Friday night near the locker room.

Me

You can bet your ass I’ll be there!

Felix

I’ll see you soon then. Goodnight <3

Me

Night. Sweet dreams

Holy shit I think I just pissed myself.

05

Felix’s POV

Sexuality has always been a touchy subject for me. I think it started in ninth grade when Erin Sweetheart made out with me after my first football game and offered to give me a blowjob. I wanted it but didn’t want it . Like it more of a “I’ll settle for this” kinda thing. Then in the summer before 10th grade, I hooked up with Rachel Ram. It felt good but that was it.

I began to look deeper if there was something wrong with me. Cause all my other friends would talk about their “conquests” and the women they would hook up with. Me? I was ogling Henry Cavill. The ball started rolling from this point on.

Then 10th grade started. At first, nothing happened. It was the same old-same old. However, there came a particular figure. Quiet, shy, and heavily abused by my younger brother, Ryan.

This innocent guy had nice brown hair, deep brown eyes, and was skinny. That ball rolling that I mentioned earlier came to a halt at the finish line.

It took me some time to figure out his name. Adrian Jenkins. 9th grade. Only child. Average GPA. Suffers from mild anxiety. And was the guy who held my attention.

Everyone else became pawns and Adrian was the sunshine in my life. It was at this point when I realized that I was gay. Of course, I never accepted it. That’s why I never helped Adrian when he was bullied by my brother. Cause I knew that even one touch from him would confirm my suspicions.

Then recently I had a revelation. I have one year of high school left. They say your high school years are the best of your life. And while we all know that’s bullshit, I should at least find something to occupy my mind from sports and school.

Using my charm, I managed to look through school records and find Adrian’s personal phone number. Then I added his contact to my phone and went on Instagram to my contact list and found his account. He was on private and followed no one from school.

Next, I needed to find a reason to talk to him. The day came when I saw Ryan punch Adrian. I watched him for a while to make sure he was okay and managed to get up. When he was able to, I left and planned my text. It took me four hours to get the courage to DM him first.

The rest is history.

So here I am, shivering from anxiety next to the locker room door. Adrian was meeting me here tonight. I’m not expecting much. But this will be our first time talking face to face since I asked him out.

“Felix?” I heard a soft voice call out to me.

“Adrian?” I asked back.

“Where are you?” He whispered back. Here he was. Just on the other side of this door. All I have to do is open it and see the guy I’ve had a crush on for a long time.

I opened the door and sadly released the disgusting smell from inside of the locker room to enter the outside world. I stepped out and saw Adrian standing there in his signature sweater.

“Hi.” I said in a deep voice.

“Hey.” He said back. Aww, he’s blushing.

“Let’s go to my car.” I said. I held out my hand for him to grab. From one of his texts, this is his first relationship. I’ve had relationships in the past. They only lasted like two weeks each. I’m determined to make this one work.

I opened my car door for him on the passenger side. We aren’t going anywhere. Just staying in here to talk.

“What do we do, exactly?” He asked.

“I guess we just talk like in our chats.” I said. He cleared his throat and turned his entire body to face me. He’s giving me his entire attention.

There are those times in our lives when we feel a strong connection with someone. That final click that turns on the lights. That’s how it was talking to Adrian. Both of us were awkward at first. Then slowly we began to talk like we’ve known each other our entire lives.

My phone chimes and there was a text from Ryan asking me to pick him up from Wendy’s down the street.

“Already?” Adrian asked.

“Sorry, A. But I have to pick up my brother.”

“Oh, him.” He had a disgusted look on his face.

“I know you don’t like him. I’m not gonna force you to like him.” I said to him.

“I just wish you could one day stop him from hitting me.” He softly said. I reached my hand over to place it on his right cheek.

“I’m sorry I’m not doing enough-”

“No.” He cut me off. “You talking to me is already enough. I’ll deal with the abuse if I have to.”

I instantly leaned in and planted a kiss on his lips.

A puzzled look came on his face. Maybe I should’ve asked him if it was okay to do that.

“Come on, you can do better than that.” He said. A smirk came on my face.

“Bet.” Is all I said before leaning in and kissing him longer. His lips began to move also and sync with mine. A few moans came and soon our tongues touched. I’ve had tongue kisses before but this one felt better and much intimate.

That’s when my phone started vibrating again. Adrian and I split and were panting before I picked up my phone and answered Ryan.

“Where the hell are you?!” Ryan yelled.

“On my way.” I responded before hanging up. “How was I?” I asked Adrian.

“Perfect. It was perfect.” He said. He put his head on my shoulder, sighing in content.

It was indeed perfect.

06

Adrian’s POV

Once Ryan called Felix to pick him up, we had to cut our small makeout session short. We did sneak in an extra minute of kisses but all that did was give Felix a barrage of texts from Ryan.

“I’ll text you later, right?” He said to me. God he’s so fucking hot looking at me like I’m the most important thing to him right now.

“Yeah! I’ll be waiting for your text.” I replied. He drove and parked few blocks away from where I live.

“Goodnight! Thanks for this, by the way. It was an amazing night.” Felix gave me a final peck before I hopped out of his car.

“Nighty night. See you on Monday.” I responded. I shut the door and he drove off into the night. Felix is one of those people who can drive with one hand while the other holds your hand. That’s the epitome of sexiness.

I walked with a skip in my step . I didn’t even care that it was freezing outside and my nipples were on the verge of falling off. I just got my first kiss with Felix. And I know that there’s more to come.

The living room light was still on. I entered and my mom and dad were watching TV. “Hey honey, how was the game?” Mom asked.

“It was great, no, amazing!” God I feel like I’m on Cloud 9. A delirious sensation was over me.

“Is he on drugs?” Dad asked Mom. “Did you take drugs?” Dad now asked me directly.

“No! Not at all!” I was blushing so hard at this point. Mom leaned over and whispered something in dad’s ear. His eyes widened and quickly went back to normal as if nothing happened.

“Oh, well. You’re a teen. If you ever do drugs, just make sure you have a trip buddy with you.” Dad muttered out.

“Dad. What the actual- no! I’m going to bed!” I marched up the stairs.

“It’s a Friday! Don’t sleep too early!” Mom yelled back.

I quickly locked my door before they could barge in and continue to humiliate me. I quickly changed out of my clothes, tossing everything all over the room. I’ll clean it up tomorrow.

I started acting like one of those love-struck girls, clutching my pillow and giggling into it. I deadass just had my first kiss. And it was like what everyone says it was. Magical. I can still feel Felix’s lips on mine. His soft, pink lips. I bet he uses Burt’s Bees.

During his football match, I wasn’t paying attention to anybody but him. Everything he did was to perfection. But I don’t know anything about football. He could’ve been playing soccer and I would have screamed “touchdown!” when he scored a goal.

Felix

Hey A!!

He texted me!! Oh shit! What do I say? Do I mention the kiss? Profess my undying love and devotion to him? He’s probably lying in his bed sexily with his sexy clothes in his sexy room with his sexy self.

Me

Hi.

Well, I just said that so blandly. Can’t take it back.

Felix

What did you think of tonight?

Me

Maybe one of my top three days.

Felix

Three? What are the others?

Me

When I went to Taylor Swift’s Reputation tour. And also when I got my first sweater.

Felix

I guess I’m flattered that I’m that important.

Me

What are you up to right now?

Felix

Nothing. Just got back from the game. Was gonna hang with the team but I didn’t feel like it.

Attached was a selfie of him on his bed. He was shirtless and his skin was a golden tan. I wish I could run my hand through his chest. I zoomed in and noticed his V-line was exposed. Either he had no clothes under his blanket or his shorts were pulled too low. Not that I’m complaining.

Me

Nice. I think my parents are having sex in the living room right now.

Felix

Sounds fun ;) Takes two to tango, ya know…

If he’s insisting what I think he’s insisting I will jump out my window.

Me

Oh well I only know how to salsa dance. Soz XD

Felix

God, you’re so weird. I like it

Cue my second death of the night.

07

Adrian’s POV

Throughout the school day, Felix and I would give each other small glances. They were quick glances, so fast that no one would notice unless they were actively searching for it. He always gave me a smirk, like he’s taunting me that we’ve kissed. It’s so hard to keep this secret. All I can do to keep my feelings in is to bite down on my lips.

I’ve also seen mom and dad giving me small looks. I can sense them whispering to each other in private. I think they know something is up but I’ll never tell them.

Felix

Wanna meet up?

Me

Idk, we’ve only hung outside school once.

Felix

It’ll be at McClair Park. No one will see us.

I thought about it. McClair Park is on the other side of town. I doubt anyone from our side will be there.

Me

You gotta buy me coffee though

Felix

Deal! Meet me in the parking lot after school. I’ll drive.

Doing just that, I now find myself sitting on a bench clutching a cup of warm white chocolate mocha in my hands.

“This is the life.” Felix leaned back and closed his eyes. His right arm draped over me and pulled me closer to him.

“Careful, buddy. I almost spilled my drink.” I chugged the rest down, setting the cup down next to me.

“How are your classes so far?” Felix asked.

“They’re okay. Just hate the ones with Ryan in them.”

“Yeah. He also gets on my nerves.” He chuckled softly. His black hair swayed in the wind so perfectly. You would think he was a movie star or a Calvin Klein model.

“What about you? How’s football?” I asked.

“Stressful, like always. But I do have something to look forward to after.” He leaned down to kiss my head and smell my hair. “Mmm. You smell fucking delicious.”

“Are you sniffing my hair?”

“I can’t help it. I’ve waited so fucking long just to talk to you. Now here you are in my arms. I’m taking every chance to touch you.” He went back to placing small kisses on my face.

“You’re such a romantic.” I giggled. His final kiss was on my lips. His freshly shaved stubble on my face felt soft.

“I promise to be the best boyfriend to you. I’ve never been with a guy before so you’ll have to help me.” Felix said.

“I’ve never been with anyone before. So you’ll have to help me.”

“Wait? You’re a relationship virgin?” He asked.

“Mhm. You’re my first. Like, first ever relationship.” A smile came on his face.

“Eeeh! I’m popping your cherry!” He squealed.

“I wouldn’t call it that, but sure.” I said and leaned my head on his shoulder. Arguably one of the best positions to be in with your lover.

I cuddled into Felix’s hard body. His varsity jacket was unbuttoned and my hand began to explore his stomach. Feeling them up close is so much better than seeing them in picture.

“I kept yelling at the guy to turn left! Dumbass ran right! So that’s why Dennis never pregames when we have a game!” Felix bursted out laughing. To be honest, I had no idea what he was saying, but I laughed too because it was sort of funny.

I’m just letting this man talk.

“It’s 7. Shouldn’t we be leaving?” I asked.

Felix sighed and looked at his phone. “Yeah, I guess. Thanks for listening to me talk. Usually people just ignore me but you actually listened to me.” Aww my poor baby.

“Your absolute welcome. Now drive me home before my mom calls the police.” I said. We both stood up and gave each other a hug.

“Let’s go home, Adrian.” We walked down the path with his arms leading me to his car.

08

Adrian’s POV

“Let’s go, let’s go, Sin-clair! Sin-clair!” The audience chanted from the stands. Tonight our school, the Sinclair Bears, are playing against the Frederick Douglas Bobcats. I sat in the bleachers, a little to the side in case there’s an accident and I could be the first to leave. I overthink like that.

I’m a bit confusion about the score. I’m not sure if we’re winning or losing but judging from how our side is reacting, I think the game is still going. Sports isn’t my strong suit. Neither are academics. I’m sort of in that blend of ‘not Einstein smart but not Patrick Star stupid’.

During break, the boys were drinking water and just chilling. Felix removed his helmet, his wet hair from sweat was so attractive to me. Several girls cheered him on when he gave high fives to the audience.

His eyes scanned the crowd until they landed on me. Like some coming-of-age teen flick, he gave me a wink and waved at me. I lightly waved back at him. I hoped no one noticed.

Or so I thought.

As I was getting ready to walk home, I felt someone grab my sweater from behind and pull me back.

It was Ryan’s bitchass.

“Why did my brother wave at you?” He angrily asked.

“Are you his fucking caretaker? Why do you care? He’s allowed to wave to whomever he wants.” I replied.

“Don’t think that someone cares for you. I bet Felix was waving at someone else.” He seethed. If we was an animal, he would probably be growling and foaming at the mouth.

“Whatever you say. Now let me go, you neanderthal. Your hands are ruining my sweater.” He rubbed his dirty hands all over the fabric, leaving black stains. I don’t even want to know what it is.

“Get the fuck out of here, faggot!” He pushed me away.

“Asshole.” I mumbled under my breath. Ryan gave me a glare. Felix called out for him from the parking lot. Ryan hesitated but decided not to do anything tonight and ran off.

Yeah, runaway you little bitch. That’s why I’m tonguing your brother.

Mom and dad were up again tonight. I managed to ignored them but made sure to make enough noise to let them know that I’m alive. They’ve been acting different around me. I wonder if they know that I’m seeing someone…

I changed out of my clothes. I looked at my sweater and the stain Ryan left. It’s probably some car grease but it’s most likely not coming off. Such a shame. I really liked this cashmere. I was finally able to grunt and relief when my back landed on my soft bed. I hope Felix texts me tonight.

Felix

How was I today?

Me

I don’t know anything about football, but I would say you were the shit!

Felix

Ryan was asking me about me waving at you…

Me

What did you say?

Felix

I told him that we were friends.

Oh shit! I have a feeling that Ryan’s gonna be upset that his brother is talking to me. Ryan’s head is so far up Felix’s ass I don’t know where Ryan’s head begins and Felix’s ass starts.

Me

I don’t think you know that you put another target on my back… Ryan isn’t gonna like our “friendship”

Felix

Chill, baby cakes. I let him know that you’re cool. He wasn’t too happy that we’re talking but as long as he knows we’re cool I think he’ll leave you alone.

Me

Do you ever plan on coming out?

The burning question had been asked.

Felix

I’m not sure. It’s a lot to come out. And there’s so much I can lose.

That’s code for he’s never coming out. If you ever plan on dating a DL guy and he says that, don’t get your hopes up. And that’s what I did.

So now I’m left wondering if I want to be someone’s secret. And how long would this go? Until Felix leaves for college? I don’t think so.

Me

I understand.

Not really. But he’s Felix Anderson. I’ll do anything for him, as would the rest of the world. As long as I don’t lose my sanity, I think I can be his secret. But I have to remember to keep my dignity in tact. I’m not risking myself for some guy.

ciao!!

09

Felix’s POV

I removed my shirt in front of my mirror and was getting ready to send the picture to Adrian when there was a rapid knock on my door.

“What?!” I yelled out.

“Let me in!” Ryan said from the other side. I grunted and opened my bathroom door.

“What do you need?” I asked.

“Geez, chill out. I saw you waving at Adrian earlier.” He had a puzzled look on his face.

“I know it’s hard for you to wrap your head around it, but I’m allowed to have other friends.” I responded.

“Yeah, but why Adrian? Why that fairy?” He asked.

“Say that again! I fucking dare you, Ryan!” I yelled at him. He stepped back, obviously scared that I’m in his face.

“F-Fine! Sorry!” He quickly said out loud. I finally stepped away and faced the mirror and admired myself.

“You look shocked. What is it?” I asked. Ryan’s reflection in the mirror showed he was still confused. His idiot brain must not comprehend that people who are different can be friends.

“Is Adrian your friend or what?”

“Yes, he is. Maybe you should friend him.” He made a disgusted look. “Adrian is actually a great guy. He’s better than those leatherheads you hang out with.”

“By the way you’re talking about him, it’s like he’s your boyfriend.” He broke down laughing while I hid my blush.

“Why do you even bully him? What did he do to you?” I asked.

“He made me spill my drink!”

I bursted out laughing to the point I was holding onto the edge of the sink. “Seriously? A drink? Just buy a new one.”

“It wasn’t just that! I spilled it on Valerie when I was trying to flirt with her! I lost my chance to be with her then!”

“But you ended up dating and dumping her last year, right?” I said. I gave him a ‘what the actual fuck’ look.

“Yeah, I guess.” He replied.

“My advice, buy a fucking punching bag. Now get out of my room.” I began to shoo him away.

“Oh, I forgot! Could you go and buy us Shake Shack? Please?” He asked.

“Only if you get out. I’ll go get it for us.” He jolted out of my bathroom and closed the door on his way out.

I rolled my eyes and huffed. I turned back to the mirror and held up my phone and took a sexy picture of myself. I sent it to Adrian who replied with a picture of his parents cuddling on the couch with the caption ‘kill me’,

We texted back and forth. I was getting ready to head out and get food while he watched a romcom movie with his parents for family night. It was so cute seeing him get disgusted when he mentioned his parents cuddling and kissing.

Me

Maybe you’re jealous cause no one’s there to cuddle you.

Adrian

If only you could come over. Then we could stick it in my parents face ;)

Me

A, you little flirty shit -_- Are you even out to your parents?

Adrian

No, but I think they know. They always insist on making us watch Love, Simon together…

Me

Fuck! Wish I had parents like yours…

Adrian

I bet they’ll love you no matter what.

Me

Everyone likes me. I’ve very likeable

Adrian

Yeah, that’s definitely true

I bet it is. Cause Adrian likes me. And that’s all that matters.

Adrian’s POV

Felix

Wanna hang out today?

I turned to look at my messy room. I had emptied my closet earlier because I forgot where I put my Social Security number. I had turned my room upside down until I remembered mom had it. I should be cleaning it up, but…

Me

Pick me up at Vermont street

I quickly changed into a navy blue sweater because it’s dark outside which matches the atmosphere.

I waited at the corner of Vermont. I would exhale and watch my breath, pretending I was like a dragon.

A bright set of headlights got close to me. I first thought it was a van coming to kidnap me until I noticed it was Felix’s black car pulling up next to me. “Hop in.” He said when he rolled down the window.

I hopped in quickly and leaned to give him a kiss. “Where are we going?” I asked.

“Ever heard of Moonlight Cinema?” He asked. I’ve heard about that place. It’s a theater located on the other side of town. It’s not very convenient for teens here because there’s a nearby AMC. But based off reviews, Moonlight sounds like a much better option.

“Are we going?” I asked with a jump of hope.

“Yep. Got tickets. They’re screening Legally Blonde tonight.” He said. I squealed in my seat.

“Could this be considered our first date?” I turned to him. He was driving with one hand while the other grabbed my left hand.

“Yeah. I guess we skipped that step and went to kissing. Since I was the one who asked you, I’ll pay for everything.” Well I won’t pass up the opportunity for free snacks.

I did that weird dance in my seat as Felix drove us to the other side of town. It was like an intense nervousness that comes with the possibility of us being found out. Felix could literally be outed right now and be seen with me.

Felix bought the tickets, which after we paid for admission, I put it behind my phone case. Ya’know, for memories.

I insisted I at least pay for some of the snacks cause theater snacks ain’t cheap. But everytime I pulled out a $20, he would pull my hand away and say “I’m treating you, baby”. Which just sent shivers down my spine. Does he know everything he does is sexy?

Luckily, it doesn’t seem like many are here today. It’s a Tuesday, afterall. I doubt people would want to come to a cinema on a Tuesday night.

“I know the perfect spot for us.” Felix grabbed my hand and led me through the dark room. “After months of coming here, I’ve tracked down the perfect spot.” Passing through the aisles, Felix dragged me nearly to the front of the screen and then the middle of the row.

“So how is this spot perfect?” I asked.

“Cause the speakers diagonally project noise from the corners of the screens towards the center of the room and bounce off the walls. The side will only hear their opposing side’s sound and the higher and lower rows won’t hear the full extent of both sounds. This spot is where the noise comes together and blends perfectly. Also, the view’s great since it’s not too high or too low. Your vision it in direct sight of the screen from here.” He said. I stared at him cause I did not get that at all.

“You have this down to a science?” I said.

“Months of coming here alone led me to discover this.”

“Alone?” I asked.

“Yeah, well, I wanted to make sure when I bring you here that we have the best location.” A small blush came on his face.

“You’re so adorable.” I pinched his cheeks like I’m a grandma. He chuckled and his left hand went on my knee and rubbed it.

‘Perfect Day’ began playing and the movie started the intro sequence. “Shut up.” He told me even though I wasn’t saying anything.

Felix put his head on my shoulder. I fed him popcorn and whenever he would snuggle his head, it would mean he wanted more. Occasionally, he would put kisses behind my ear and on my collar bone. Who knows if he’s giving me hickeys. All I know is they feel good.

Because it feels good to be with Felix.

Adrian’s POV

On my way to US History, I passed by Ryan. I was disappointed when he didn’t punch me. Mainly because I prepared myself mentally to get a punch. Do you know what that does to a person? Mentally preparing for something only for it to not go through?

It’s like when introverts prepare for a presentation all day, going through every worst possible scenario only for the teacher to say yours is on Monday.

Then the same happened when Ryan walked past me in the locker room. Rather than swing his dick at me or put me in a chokehold, he walked by without glancing at me.

Either Ryan got switched out with a clone, or Felix possibly got through with him.

I, of course, asked Felix while we were making out in his car.

“Do you have something to do with Ryan?” I asked.

“Like what, exactly?”

“Cause Ryan hasn’t bothered me all day. It’s like he doesn’t acknowledge me anymore.”

“Is that a good or bad thing?” He asked.

“It’s good. But did you have anything to do with it?”

“I may or may not have threatened to expose a video of him where he attempted to deepthroat a hot dog.” He said.

“You gotta send me that video ASAP.”

“Already on it.” He pulled out his phone and typed something. My phone dinged and there was a text from Felix with a video attached.

Felix went back kissing my neck. I felt his lips on the back of my ear. He smelled my hair, taking in my eucalyptus shampoo. And while it felt good, the conversation we had a few days prior came back. About him never wanting to come out…

I lightly pushed Felix away. He looked at me confused. “Were you serious about never coming out?” I asked. He looked down at his fingers. He was picking at his cuticles on his right hand.

“I know how it must feel to be someone’s secret.”

“It kinda feels like shit.” I said.

“Right. It’s just, there aren’t many gay athletes out there. I’m on track to get a scholarship to some good uni’s. And if I come out, it might fuck up my plans.” He said. All I could do was breathe in and out, trying not to show my agitation.

“I’m not too keen on being your secret. I just can’t hide a part of myself for that long. And you probably shouldn’t either.”

“I do know that some places are openly accepting gays and offering exclusive scholarships to them. But the likelihood that I’ll even qualify for pros is lower.”

“So you’re saying there’s a chance you’ll come out?” I asked.

“It’s not definite. But possibly. As long as for now, we keep our heads down. Then maybe I’ll come out.” He said.

I nodded in agreement. Even though I know my worth, I won’t throw away this relationship because I want Felix to come out. He should come out on his own terms. I shouldn’t try to convince him to do something he’s not ready yet.

“Can we go back to kissing?” He asked.

“Wait.” I said. I pulled out my lip balm and moistened my lips. “There.” I puckered my lips, which were then met by Felix’s.

Here we were, two guys in the parking lot of a Costco, making out in the dark. We originally came here because Felix needed to buy some bulk boxes of snacks. We kinda got carried away when Felix accidentally pinned me against the wall in the parking lot.

My eyes were closed, my hands roaming his body until I felt his hands grab my wrist. He moved my hands lower until they touched his pants. That’s when I felt around and touched his friend. He was obviously excited.

My hand grasped it a bit, earning me a groan from Felix. I’m not good with sizes, but this monster feels thick and red hot.

Felix and I have yet to go that far. We’ve never talked about sex or anything like that. It’s mainly kisses and cuddles. I’m not even sure if I want to go that far, since it’ll be my first time. And Felix has a notoriety of being a beast in bed.

So now I’m imagining my little body being railed by this hunk.

I kept grabbing his dick by this point until I split away and told him we should go home. The way to my home, Felix kept adjusting himself in his pants. Guess I’m leaving him tonight with blue balls.

Felix’s POV

Yesterday I asked Adrian to come with me to Costco to get snacks. That’s because I’m throwing a party tonight. Originally, I only invited my mates from baseball and football. But, teens being teens, everyone soon knew about a party at Anderson’s.

I needed to stock up on snacks and drinks for hundreds of people. My parents will be in Vegas this weekend so they won’t find out, hopefully. And I’m betting to have a lone moment with Adrian.

I of course invited Adrian. He was hesitant to come because he would know nobody. But I told him my room will be locked and I’ll give him a key so it’ll just be me and him. Earlier today, I gave him the key, and he promised he’ll be here.

Later Ryan asked if I was having a party? I told him I was. He didn’t know, which made me laugh knowing Adrian got an invite before my own brother.

When the party was in full swing, I watched my drinking. Normally, I would be doing jägerbombs and be on the verge of being blackout drunk. Today, I only took one shot to give myself liquid courage.

When Adrian walked into my home, I was awed. He wore a white button up and over it was a light pink sweater. His black pants hugged his ass so perfectly. I’ve wanted to grab his ass for so long but had to control myself around him.

He scanned the room until he found me. I walked, or stumbled, over to him holding a beer in my hand.

“You came!” I yelled since the music was loud.

“Of course I did! I’ve never been to a party before!” He yelled back.

“Wanna sip?!” I asked, holding out the beer to him.

“I don’t drink!” He yelled. By now, we were standing next to each other. I had to crouch down since he’s so much smaller than me.

“There’s some Japanese strawberry milk in my room! And some snacks!” I said.

“Perfect! I’ll meet you there!” He said. My hand was on his shoulder, squeezing it a bit. He looked up at me, his eyes full of wonder. I gave him a wink and he walked past me up to my room.

Once I made sure no one was fucking in my parent’s room or in our pool, I made the trip to my room.

When I unlocked the door and walked in, I was met with Adrian snuggling into my sheets and pillows and watching The Office on my TV. He looked so adorable, just laying there doing nothing.

“Which episode are we on?” I asked as I took off my shoes and climbed on bed with him. He had an opened can of strawberry milk and had a bag of chips opened.

“They’re doing the Office Olympics right now.” He said. We both watched the TV, completely ignoring the music on the other side of the door.

“Can I ask you something?” I said.

“Mhm.” He responded.

“So, we’ve been together for a few weeks now. I wanna ask if you maybe wanted to-”

“Go laser tagging?” He said.

“No! I mean, that could be fun. But, we’ve been making out. And, I wanna go further today.” I said. I turned to him. His mind was blanked out. He bit on his nails, something I see him do when he’s stressed or thinking.

“This isn’t the alcohol talking, right?” He asked.

“No! No. I had a shot and half a beer but that’s to give me courage. I do want this, Adrian. But if you’re not ready, we don’t have to.” I said.

He set his snacks to the bedside table next to him and turned his entire body to face me. “Are you prepared?” He asked.

My hand reached over and opened a drawer next to me. I pulled out a bag which had a packet of condoms and lube. “Always ready.”

“It’s gonna be my first time, by the way.” He shyly said.

“And I promise to go easy. It’s gonna be my first time, with a guy. Should we have a safe word?” I asked.

“Yeah, we should. How bout… foliage!” He said. I chuckled and played with his hair.

“Foliage it is.” I said.

“Do we start now?” He asked. I looked at his lips, holding his hand and clutching it.

“It’s now or never.” I said.

Adrian leaned in and began making out with me. His hands roamed my body, touching my every muscle and exposed skin. He then climbed on top of me, pinning me down with his legs. I kept moaning into the kiss. It’s like a hidden part of Adrian came out.

His hand then went down to my crotch, grabbing me tightly in his hands. His hands just have a way of owning me.

When I heard the sound of my belt unlatching, that’s when I knew I was in for a rough night.

Adrian’s POV

It’s warm. Very warm. And soft. Cozy. And overall, perfect. My eyes slowly opened and I realized my face was in Felix’s hair. The curtains were closed, luckily my eyes were not blinded.

I felt a searing pain in my ass. I groaned and completely forgot what happened last night. I looked down at Felix, his face in my chest while he snores lightly. My legs began to search around, touching everything. I was met with Felix’s dick, my foot touching it.

That’s when I jolted and realized what happened last night. I lifted the blanket and saw both Felix and I naked. I looked around the room and saw our clothes scattered everywhere. The trashcan next to the bed was full of used condoms.

We must’ve had a crazy night.

“Felix. Feeeeeelllliiiiixxxxxxxx.” I whispered. I nudged his head. He groaned and snuggled into my chest.

“Go away, Ryan. I’m not getting you IHOP.” He groaned out.

“Dumbass, it’s me.” I said. He lifted his handsome head from my chest and blinked at me, trying to process what was going on.

“Oh shit.” He said. I looked down and saw he’s left a puddle of drool on my chest. I reached over to the box of tissues, which was almost empty, and got a few to clean it up.

“Am I a virgin?” I asked.

“No, Adrian. You’re not a virgin anymore.” He said. I smiled at him and bent down to kiss him.

“Was I good?”

“The best.” He told me.

“Is my ass gonna hurt all day?” I asked.

“Hell yeah.” He started kissing me and moved up to cage me between his legs. My ass hurt like a bitch but I’m not stopping Felix from kissing me.

“Felix!” Someone yelled from the other side of the locked door.

“Fucking hell.” Felix groaned out. He stopped kissing me and rolled off me. “What is it?!” He yelled back.

“Can you go get IHOP?!” Who I’m presuming was Ryan yelling out.

“Sure!” Felix replied. I heard Ryan say ‘Yes!’ to himself before his footsteps sounded away from the door.

Felix went to hug me close, him smelling me and kissing my chest. This didn’t feel sexual. It just felt like two people who like each other lying next to one another, enjoying their presence.

“Wanna stay for breakfast?” He asked.

“Can’t. I need to get home. My parents are taking me to San Francisco.” I said.

“Need a drive home?”

“Yeah actually. I don’t think I’ll be able to walk.” I gave him a smirk.

“Yeah. That’s my bad.” He said. He got up from the bed, wearing nothing. My eyes were blessed by the sight of his perfect ass. He opened the curtains, and a flash of bright light came in. I covered my eyes until they got adjusted.

I watched as Felix stretched in front of the window, all his muscles flexing. He reminded me of Michaelangelo’s David statue. The perfection of man.

I got up too and almost fell from the pain. I went around the room and put on my clothes while Felix stood watching me.

“You’re beautiful.” He said. I turned and blushed. He wore black briefs now and went to me. His arms hugged me tightly.

“We should get out of here before Ryan knocks down the door and sees us like this.” I said.

“Yeah. We should.” He went to his desk and handed me his car keys. “Go to the driveway and unlock my car. I’ll be there in a minute.” He said.

“Sure. I’ll sneak down.” I said. Before I left, I put in two cans of strawberry milk in my sweater when Felix wasn’t looking. I hated that I had to sneak out of my boyfriend’s house because he was afraid to come out. But now I can’t think about that. I need to escape this house.

As I turned the corner, I heard Ryan’s voice laughing in the living room. I peaked around and saw the living room trashed and empty bottles and cups everywhere. Since I can’t escape from the front. I’ll just go through the sides.

My effort led to me jumping the bushes and almost falling into cat’s shit. Once I got in the car. I leaned back and hid myself. No one would be able to see me now.

Once Felix came out of the front door, his hair wet now, he got in the car and drove me home. We talked about the night before and how many rounds we did. According to Felix, it was six rounds. The most he’s ever done. My ego definitely went up after he recounted how amazing I was.

My first highschool party and I managed to lose my virginity.

Adrian’s POV

A stinging sensation was felt in the back of my head when I sat in class. I tried to ignore it at first but it was a feeling I shouldn’t shake off. I thought maybe I was bleeding but when I touched the back of my head and checked my fingers, there was nothing.

Then I realized it was a mental pain, not a physical one. It’s that feeling you get when someone is watching you. You know? That paranoia like when you’re walking home at night and it feels like you’re being watched?

So I turned around to see if anyone was watching me. Sure enough, I saw Ryan at me giving me a hard stare. When he noticed I was looking at him, he turned away and looked forward to the front of the classroom.

That’s odd. Why would Ryan be staring at me? He’s been leaving me alone for so long.

“Mr. Jenkins!” My history teacher yelled. I turned and saw him giving me an angry glare.

“Umm, yeah?” I asked. My classmates were all silent, watching as the quiet kid got yelled at.

“What’s the answer to the question?” He asked, his hands on his hips.

“Uhhh… divorced, beheaded, died, divorced, beheaded, survived?” I said the first thing that came into my head.

History teacher exhaled, obviously disappointed. “No, Adrian. We’re talking about- nevermind. Pay attention!” He said and turned back to teaching. The board had an American and British flag, so, I guess I got it wrong.

I just sat on my desk thinking about Felix. And the fact that I lost my virginity to him. It’s sweet, really. And it feels like Felix and I have gotten closer since that night. Our bond has gotten stronger, and I’m starting to wonder if my feelings for him have switched to more than liking him.

I brought up my weird encounter with Ryan to Felix.

“Oh, well, it’s Ryan. He’s always weird.” Felix the Cat told me.

“But it doesn’t make sense. Ryan ignores me and stops harassing me and now he’s staring at me from across the room. Don’t you think that seems weird to you?” I said.

Felix rolled over onto his belly, his legs kicking back and forth behind him. “You’re looking into this too much. I bet Ryan was probably just staring at your sweater.” He said.

“Hmm. I guess.” I wanted to let the subject go, but for Felix’s sake, I’ll just ignore it.

“We don’t have any pictures together.” Felix said, placing his chin on my legs.

“Let’s do it!” I jumped up onto my knees. Felix’s head slammed into the blanket we laid out on the grass.

“Do what?” He asked as he began to get up.

“Let’s take photos together!”

“We’re in the middle of a park. What are we even supposed to do?” He asked.

“Anything!” I said to him. He seemed to get the idea as a smile spread on his face.

He got up and held out his hand to me. “Join me.” He whispered. I grabbed his hand and stood up. He bent me back and kissed me on the lips.

I pulled out my phone sneakily and took a selfie of us like this. I turned to the camera while he kissed my cheek.

It was a perfect photo. Him kissing me, and my eyes full of admiration for someone else.

If only I could put it on my lock screen or as my profile picture. But I know Felix wouldn’t like that. Which is a shame because I want everyone to know that he’s mine and no one else can have him.

As I looked at our pictures, I stupidly smiled to myself. When Felix leaves, I’ll have something to look back on. The moments captured on a few pixels that contain memories and emotions. Whether Felix keeps his pictures to himself or deletes them eventually is up to him.

But when he was looking at his pictures, smiling to himself and looking up at me, I could feel that I’m an important part of him.

Adrian’s POV

“Get in.” Felix said when he pulled up his car next to me on the sidewalk. His football game had ended a few minutes prior. And Felix, being the DL guy he is, told me to wait outside the school to pick me up.

I got in his car and quickly plugged in the aux cord to my phone.

“Hang on! Who said you can control the music?” He asked.

“I’m shotgun! It’s the law that I play DJ.” I responded. He tried to argue but I refused to hand the cord over. I blasted soft music and was looking outside the window.

“Wanna go somewhere fun?” Felix asked.

“Like where?”

“Ever heard of Darla’s Cliff?” He asked. I quickly turned to him, staring at his smug face.

“Uh, yeah! That’s where people go when they’re in love, right?” I asked.

“Mhm. I’ve got snacks and blankets for us.” He said. I turned to look at the back seat and saw there were those items there.

I’ve always wanted to go to Darla’s Cliff. It’s on the side of a mountain, a bit away from town. The cliff is known to be a place where lovers go and solidify their love by carving the side of a tree.

Darla’s Cliff is actually the place where my mom and dad solidified their love. They always told me of the birch tree they carved their name into. I’ve seen pictures of it but could never go see it in person because my parents told me that I’ll go one day with the person I love.

And now I’m going there! With the idiot next to me!

The scenery around us changed from urban to woods and slowly the car began to go up the mountain. Felix kept blabbering about something while I sat here hoping he knows how to drive and doesn’t drive off the cliff.

“We’re here!” He said and parked in a dirt path. I went ahead to look at the city while Felix brought over the snacks. The blanket was now on the floor and he sat on it, watching me while I watched the city.

“Have you brought anyone else here before?” I asked.

“Uh-uh. No one else. You’re the only person who I’ve felt was worthy to come.” He told me. I jumped into him and straddled with my legs. I bent down to kiss him while we both laughed at nothing.

“I fucking love you.” Felix muttered out. I stopped kissing his neck and stared into his eyes. He caught what he’d said, but didn’t say anything.

“You love me?” I asked, trying not to freak out.

“I uh…” He quieted and just stared into my eyes. That thing that people say when someone’s pupils expand when they look at someone they love is true because Felix’s pupils have never been bigger. “I do, Adrian Jenkins. I fucking love you.” He confirmed.

I was just silent. Flabbergasted. Shocked. Scared.

“No one’s ever loved me like you have.” I said before pulling him in and planting my lips on him. “I love you too, Felix Anderson.”

“Glad we’re on the same page.” He said as he hugged me close to him. I heard him sigh next to my ear.

This just complicated things. Before we fell in love, I was hesitant to get close to Felix because not only is he closeted, but there may come a time when we both have to say goodbye. ‘I love you’ is a scary phrase, both good and bad. It’s changed everything about us.

“You look scared.” Felix said. He pushed my hair behind my ear.

“It’s nothing.” I replied.

“Doesn’t look like nothing. You can tell me anything.” He told me.

“Well, you love me, right?” I asked.

“That’s what I said earlier…”

“Kay. And love is a strong thing. It’s not something meant to be concealed. Does this change your future plans?” I asked.

“I think it does. It took me a while to find the courage to say that to you. And now, I don’t know what to do. I’ve done so many things I never do with anyone else with you. I’ve gone on dates with you, taken a couple’s pictures, let you stay the night, and brought you here. I feel bad because I’m preventing us from having a normal relationship.” He cupped my cheek and rubbed his fingers on my cheekbone.

“Come out when you want to come out. Don’t feel like you have to because of me. I’ll be fine, just as long as I have you to look forward to.” I said.

“I’ll keep that in mind, Adrian.” He replied.

I leaned my head into his shoulder as we both looked to the city at night. From the distance, the bright glow of San Francisco can be seen.

“Do you have a knife?” I asked Felix.

“Are you gonna kill me?” He jokingly asked. He pulled out his car keys and handed me his pocket knife.

“Nah. You’re too valuable for that.” I said before standing up and turning on my phone flashlight. I began to scour the surrounding area, looking for the birch tree. Felix followed close behind.

I stopped my search when I spotted my parents name carved on the side of a tree.

“Erin+Paul” Felix said from behind me.

“They’re my parents. They also came here during high school and later got married.” I told him.

“Let’s carve our names too!” He said.

“On it!” I quickly said and pulled out the knife.

Carving the tree was a difficult task, but not impossible. Right underneath my parent’s name was now mine and Felix’s.

“Perfecto!” Felix said when I finished. I stepped back to admire my work before Felix came up behind and took me away to eat our snacks.

Forever engrained on the tree will be Adrian+Felix.

Felix’s POV

The guys on the football team were all drinking beers while I sat back and played Candy Crush on my phone. I heard something crash and saw Ryan and his idiot friend had knocked over my mom’s glass elephant collection.

“Clean it, bitch.” I told them both. They both submissively nodded and ran to get a broom and sweep it up.

The team’s conversation was going over my head while I tried to get rid of all the jelly when slowly their convo entered my mind.

“The quiet ones are always freaks. Just sayin’. Alyssa’s vocal in bed.” Someone said.

“Always watch for the quiet one, ya know. Especially that one kid in Ryan’s grade. What’s his name? The one Felix hangs out with!” Another guy announced. “Yo, Felix!” They yelled. I looked up and saw everyone looking at me.

“Hmm?” I asked.

“What’s the name of that quiet guy you hang out with?” He asked.

“You mean Adrian? He’s been going to school with us for three years? Don’t you have AP Physics with him?” I asked.

“Adrian? I never knew his name. You two sure have been hanging out a lot, huh?”

I was on the verge of sweating but my dad was in the military so I’m trained to remain calm during tense situations. “Yeah. So what? He’s a cool guy. Better than some of the guys y’all hang out with.” I replied.

“Oh, I bet you two are hanging out.” Ryan said from across the room. He gave me a small smirk. Similar to the one he used to do when he would do something bad and try to pin it on me.

“You’re sounding like there’s something more…” Dean jokingly said.

“Maybe cause there is, right Felix?” Ryan said.

I mouthed ‘Stop!’ to him but he just winked at me.

“We’re just close, that’s all! Drop it!” I said. My phone was away now, meaning these morons had my full attention.

“So why did Adrian sneak out of your room when you had that party? Or why do you pick him up in your car after games? Care to explain that, bro?” Ryan snarkily said.

“I-I” I stuttered out.

“Holy shit! Are you and Adrian fucking?” Ed gasped out. I think everyone soon began to piece the pieces together and soon the whole room was looking at me with a shocked expression.

“Are you kidding, Ed? Why would I go out with that loser!” I shouted out.

“Well, Ryan is saying he’s seen you two outside of school. And he came out of your room and stayed the night. No one ever stays over with you.” Ed responded.

“Ryan was the same person who told everyone that Gia had chlamydia just cause she rejected him! You’re gonna believe him over me?!” I shouted.

“So why do you have pictures together on your phone? You forget that your iCloud is signed in on my laptop, Felix.” Ryan said smugly.

“Fine! You want the truth!” I asked the room. Everyone nodded, watching as everything goes down.

“Tell us, amigo!” Dean yelled.

“I’m just fucking with Adrian! Got it! He’s a loner so I’m just hanging out with him to make him feel better.” I announced as every word broke my heart.

“You’re doing all this just to fuck with him? Even going as far as actually fucking him?” Ryan skeptically asked.

“Yeah!” My voice strained. “Exactly. Wouldn’t you understand? You hate him too!” I told Ryan.

“You aren’t together?” Someone asked.

“Nah! I could be the gayest person and I would never even think of dating him!” I said.

Everyone’s phone then dinged. I pulled mine out and saw Ryan had sent a private photo that Adrian and I had taken. My face isn’t in the pic, but he’s in between my legs while he’s watching TV. The picture is a bit compromising, but nothing too racy.

However, this was only meant to be seen by me and Adrian only.

Everyone gasped and started to joke about how Adrian looked. I watched on as the man I love became humiliated.

I was too much of a coward to tell my true feelings. Rather than tell the guys that I also like guys, I hid behind a fake toxic masculine persona. I made a joke out of my first serious relationship.

I couldn’t believe myself.

I want to throw up and take everything back. And delete every picture off everyone’s phone. I could kill Ryan. But I didn’t. Because I was shell shocked. Yeah, I managed to avoid being called a slur, but now Adrian will take the fall. He’ll be seen as a fool for thinking someone like me would date him.

And I don’t know if Adrian would hear me out. And I would understand why he wouldn’t. He’s the one being hurt by my actions.

“I’m sending this to Lauren!” Dean said. That’s when the panic really set in because Lauren likes to spread anything and everything.

So now the whole school will have a picture of Adrian with his ass sticking out in between my legs.

And this could all be resolved if I just tell the truth.

But I’m too scared. And that makes me a coward.

Adrian’s POV

Usually, Friday nights would consist of me and Felix hanging out. But today, Felix’s football buddies wanted to hang out with him. Though he wanted to reject at first, I insisted he hang out with them since he’s been spending most of his time with me.

Not that it’s a bad thing he’s with me. But a good team needs everyone to be close, and Felix needs to maintain a relationship with them all. I promised to make it up to him the next day with coffee and going to Potato Corner.

Which leads to tonight. We were all hungry so dad took us all to go out and get food. We decided on In-N-Out. While waiting for our food, I went next door to get a milk tea. Now I’m in my room watching A Walk To Remember and doing nothing.

I kept thinking about Felix finally saying he loves me. I get all giddy about it when I think of it. My parents have told me they love me. I’ve told myself I love myself. But to hear those words from someone else, man, it changes you.

Right as Jamie was telling her pastor father she loves Landon, my phone chimed with a notification. I ignored it at first because of the movie but then another sound rang. And again. Then, my phone kept ringing constantly and kept vibrating on my desk.

Something was going on.

Usually I never get this many notifications. Only from my parents or Felix. Or when a due date is coming up.

I checked the notifications and was confused since it was private DMs from different accounts. I clicked one open and saw what it was.

‘This you?’ it said and attached was a picture Felix once took of me. It’s obvious it’s me because of my shaggy hair and lavender sweater.

I started to panic and felt like throwing up my food. The messages kept coming. I could vaguely see some of them, all of them asking me if it was me in the picture or mocking me.

I’m being slut shamed.

And how did they even find my account? No one besides Felix follows me. And how did they even get the picture?

I kept trying to give Felix the benefit of the doubt, maybe he was hacked. However, I was proven wrong when Felix messaged me apologizing.

Felix

Adrian. I’m so sorry. Ryan found out about us. He sent the picture to the guys and they spread it. I told them I was just messing with you! I’m sorry!

He kept trying to apologize over and over again. Meanwhile, other messages kept humiliating me, thinking that Felix would ever love me.

Felix said it. He said he loves me. Our names are carved in a tree. We go on dates and I slept in his bed.

And Felix didn’t defend me.

He let me be humiliated and think I could actually land him.

I sobbed into my pillow that night. My phone kept ringing. Sometimes I would look and see the messages and throw my phone. I kept hurting myself by looking at what others said.

When Saturday came, Felix tried to talk and get me to go out to explain but I shut him out. He was on mute. And my phone was on Do Not Disturb. I shut myself out the whole weekend and refused to talk or eat.

Then Monday came. The messages have stopped by this point. So me, being the optimistic worm I am, thought that maybe everyone forgot about what happened. That the picture was forgotten about. Or maybe that I dreamt it the whole thing.

But the whispers and stares from my peers proved my theories and hopes wrong. Because it felt like the whole world was watching me. Last week I was just a wallflower who stayed silent. Now, I’m put on display for everyone to watch and point at me.

It seems as if only the older students, mainly juniors and seniors, are the ones who know. The freshman and sophomores are mostly clueless as to why I’m all of the sudden Christ in resurrection.

My mistake was when I decided to turn around and could see people staring at my ass. Surely this counts as sexual harassment, right? Because I feel violated. People are probably wondering if I really thought I was in love with Felix.

I’ll save you the stress. I am. I still am because, as a fool, I believed in every word he said. He knew the right strings to hit and what would make me sing for him. Only for him to slice my throat and take my voice.

My fingernails were gripping into my palm. Every step, I curled my toes. And when the tears tried to escape, I pressed my tongue on the roof of my mouth.

I sat outside AP Physics class, on the floor, trying not to have a panic attack. Everyone was gone, and I was alone in the hallway.

“Adrian?” A voice asked. I looked up to see Felix looking down at me.

“Go away!” I spat at him.

“I need to talk to you, please?” He pleaded. I didn’t want to hear him right now. Despite his voice being so ingrained in my head to the point where I had an addiction to it, I knew I needed to cut off my supply.

My hand did its best to help me off the floor, but the cuts from my nails hurt. I almost collapsed on the floor.

Felix tried to help me up, but I pushed him away. “Get the hell away from me!” I yelled at him. He stepped back and watched as I struggled to help myself. Not that I’m too proud to ask for help. But I just couldn’t enjoy Felix’s touch. He used to be able to fumble me, make me weak in the knees. Now, I pushed him away.

School right now isn’t the best environment for me. I need to get out. So I checked myself out. I faked that I was sick. It was believable because every second I felt like throwing up.

As I was walking home, the tears really began to fall. It’s hard for me to understand why Felix would do this. The picture itself may not be his fault. But he didn’t stand up for our relationship. Like it meant nothing. Like I was a play thing he was fucking around with.

I think I just need to be alone for the moment. And try not the bleed more into this mess.

Adrian’s POV

Taking a break from school is just a temporary solution for right now. I’m sure there’s a better way to deal with this, like going to therapy or telling everyone at school that Felix is a lying cunt. But I’m not that type of person. I’m the type to hide and avoid shame.

It’s been two days since I left school on Monday. I’ve managed to keep up on my work thanks to Google Classroom. I don’t have any friends so no one has checked up on me.

Meanwhile, Felix texted me all day when I ditched school. He kept asking me if I was okay and that we needed to talk. But I ignored him, and eventually blocked him.

I think he’s gotten the message because I haven’t gotten a single text since. It’s all silent on my end. And that’s how I like it. No distractions, no one to annoy me. Just me, in my bed, and Steve Carell and John Krasinski.

There was a knock on my door. In came my mom, giving me a pitiful look. I wonder if she knows about what’s happening? “Honey, you need to go to school.” She said.

“Can’t, mom. I’m sick.” I pretended to cough. However, she’s my mom. She knows when I’m bullshitting.

“I know you’re not sick. Whatever is going on, I’m sure it’ll go away soo.” She said.

“Mom! I don’t want to go to school! Okay! Please! Just let me stay! Or homeschool me! Please, mom?” I pleaded.

“We’ve talked about this before. Homeschooling isn’t a good idea. You just have two more years left, then you’ll go to college and leave everything behind.”

I huffed and didn’t respond.

“Just go tomorrow. If you still feel sick, I’ll pick you up, m’kay?” She asked.

“Fine. But be prepared to pick me up before first period begins.” I told her.

She walked out of my room, while I began getting anxious for tomorrow.

It all went by in a flash, and now I was looking at the huge prison, waiting to walk in. I wore a hoodie today, something I never wear because I think they’re abominations. I brought it to hide my face and made sure it’s big enough to cover my lower areas.

Every class was the same. Stares and whispers while I tried to do work. It’s like no one has anything better to do. At one point, someone asked if it was me in the picture. I didn’t answer because someone else answered for me.

I also happened to notice the word ‘Slut’ lightly written on almost every desk I sat in.

I think the person who made it worse was Ryan. Especially in the locker rooms when we were changing for PE, he loudly announced for the room while I was changing about the stuff with Felix. The weird looks the guys gave me made me fell disgusting. The prying eyes of everyone shook me, and I ran to the bathroom and locked myself in there. Once everyone was gone, I gathered my stuff and went to the study hall early.

I wiped my tears away and picked up my phone. Just as I was about to text my mom, I held myself back. If I was gonna be the talk of the town, I might as well try to hold out.

Right as I was leaving the hall, Felix was also walking past me. We made brief eye contact and quickly looked away.

Despite what he did, I miss him. I miss our talks and when he would talk about random things. Or when he would grab my hand while he was driving. Even if the relationship was a lie, it truly felt real. At least I got a chance to have a high school romance, even if it left me broken.

I turned around to see Felix, and he also turned around to see me. His eyes held sadness, and possibly regret.

I was expecting something out of a romcom, where he would run after me and kiss me and yell to the whole school that he does in fact love me. He didn’t do that. He understands that I don’t want to hear him right now.

My mind disconnected from the real world. Just a husk of a person. On autopilot, going about my day.

My current situation is worse than pre-Felix. Because back then, yeah, I was alone. But at least no one knew me as a slut and a fool. Now, I’m alone again but I feel their eyes all over me.

The spark in me has died now. I used to clutch hard in life, trying not to fall.

And now, I’ve fallen hard.

Felix’s POV

I’ve never felt more of an idiot than I do right now. I’ve fucked up possibly the best thing I have in my life right now. All because I was too scared to tell people that I was also into guys. Because I’m so caught up in a hypothetical future and not wanting to destroy it that I’ve destroyed the best thing I have in the present.

For many nights, I haven’t been able to sleep peacefully. I only get about three hours of sleep. The rest is me scrolling on my phone, looking at pictures and videos that Adrian and I made. The moments of happiness where I truly felt alive and like myself.

The guilt has been eating at me. I sometimes can’t even look at Adrian because of how horrible I feel. Back then, I was riddled with anxiety because I needed to be the perfect person. But when Adrian came, I let loose. Adrian didn’t see me as everyone saw me. He saw me as Felix, just Felix. His boyfriend.

I managed to corner Adrian in the bathroom one day. He was getting ready to leave but I pinned him against the wall.

“Get off me!” Adrian yelled. He struggled under me but I just needed to say something.

“Adrian!” I yelled in his face. He stopped struggling but refused to look at me. “Can we talk?” I asked.

He didn’t respond. His eyes were looking down. He couldn’t even look at me.

“We can’t talk here.” I said. “Meet me in the parking lot after my practice. I’ll be in my car. Then we can talk. Okay?” I said. He didn’t confirm. My hands gave out and his hands fell to his side. He pushed me lightly away and continued to leave the bathroom.

Even his walk is the walk of a defeated person.

Once practice was over, I waited in my car with Adrian’s favorite snacks. I had the heat turned on and had everything perfect for us.

And I waited. And waited. And waited.

I must’ve sat here for almost an hour, waiting for Adrian to come. But he never did. At one point, I called his phone and left the car to check the perimeter to see if he was here. There wasn’t a sign of him here.

Adrian wasn’t coming. He didn’t want to hear me out.

My fingers were gripping the steering wheel hard. My vision became misty from tears. Normally at this time, Adrian and I would be driving to a nice park or going to get boba, per his request. Instead, tonight, there’s an empty seat next to me.

Ryan’s attention was on me when I came home and harshly slammed the front door shut.

“What’s gotten into you?” He asked. I saw red when Ryan turned the corner to see me. Rage had taken over and I swiftly ran to Ryan. My right arm went to Ryan’s collar and pinned him against the wall.

“What the-” He gasped before I slammed him hard into the wall.

“Why did you do it?!” I spat out angrily.

“Do what?!” He stupidly asked.

“Why did you tell everyone about Adrian and I?! That wasn’t any of your business! You’ve ruined everything!” I yelled at him.

He took a few seconds to process until the realization hit him. His pupils dilated. “Holy shit! You do like Adrian!” He gasped out.

I slammed him into the wall again. “It was none of your business. And now you’ve ruined the only good thing in my life!” I said.

“I ruined it?” He asked. “I may have told the guys about you and Adrian. But who was the one that denied it? Who was the one that said it was all just a joke? Hmm?” He asked.

I loosened my grip on my brother but still kept him pinned. “It was me…” I muttered out.

Truth is, Ryan had nothing to do with how my relationship is with Adrian. I could’ve stuck with my guns, and stayed by Adrian’s side. Gotten everyone’s phone and smashed them before the picture got out.

“Yeah, bro. It was you.” Ryan said. I let go of his body and covered my face with my hands.

“Fuck!” I angrily said.

“Are you gonna do something about it?” Ryan asked. I turned to him to see him looking at me.

“What?” I asked, wiping a bit of loose tears.

“Are you gonna do something to get Adrian back.” He said. I was frozen in thought. “I read your messages. You sound like fucking Shakespeare.” He chuckled.

I began thinking. Long and hard about it. Would I really out myself for Adrian? All the fun we had, the mutual feelings, and love we shared. It was the realest thing I’ve ever felt.

He’s worth losing everything for.

“Yeah! I’m gonna get Adrian back!” I said with determination.

Then go fix it Felix!“ Ryan chuckled at his joke. Not the first time he’s made that joke.

Yeah, I want Adrian back. But does he want me back? Will he forgive me? Or am I too late?

I can only hope that Adrian is able to see that I’m willing to change.

Adrian’s POV

The weather today was beautiful, the sun sunny and the clouds barely visible. It could’ve been a great day to be outside. Sipping on iced coffee and smelling leaves from the oak tree. There’s so much I would love to do today. But I know I’ll just end up in my room and laying down.

If only Felix could see how I am. How much I miss him. Turning over in the morning to his text. Giving each other small glances in the hallway. The smell inside his car. When Felix would come up from behind me and hug me so tightly.

I miss it all.

Now I’m sitting by the window in AP Physics. The old ass teacher doesn’t care that nobody is doing work. I just wanna fall asleep here.

There was a rampant knock on the classroom door that no one cared about except for the teacher. I wanted to care about who it was but I haven’t cared for anything within the past days.

“The hell are you doing here, Mr. Anderson! Go back to class!” The teacher said. Anderson? But Ryan is already in this class. Could it be…

“I need to talk to someone!” A voice called out. I know that deep voice from anywhere.

I pulled my head up and turned to the door. Felix stood there, staring at me. He held a bouquet of flowers in his hands. They were so big he had to hold it with one arm.

“Felix?” I asked myself.

“Mr. Anderson! Go back to class!” The teacher kept saying but Felix walked past him.

The whole class had stopped their actions to see Felix Anderson come into a junior class.

I could feel my heartbeat going up. Felix stared at me with determination, walking his way towards me. I wanted to run or jump out the window. But I knew that eventually Felix and I were to talk again.

“Adrian?” Felix said. I looked up to see him looking down at me with the same eyes that have captivated me for years.

Deciding to face the music, I stood up and looked into his eyes too.

“What do you want?” I softly asked.

“I’m-I’m sorry!” He blurted out. “I’m so fucking sorry, Adrian! I never should’ve treated you like that! I promise I’ll do better if you give me a chance!” He said.

I stared at him, not sure what to say. One, because I’m shocked. But two, because I don’t feel too comfortable talking about this in front of everyone.

“Can we talk in private?” I asked. Felix looked around the room and saw everyone looking at us.

He nodded. “Yeah. Let’s go outside.” He responded. I got my backpack and we both walked together outside the classroom.

“Mr. Jenkins!” My physics teacher called out.

“Piss off!” Felix yelled at him. Before I exited the class, I turned to see Ryan of all people giving me a small wink. Did he know his brother was going to do this?

Felix and I walked for a bit. None of us said anything. Felix would lead the way through the hallway and I followed close behind. He stopped at the end of the hallway, in front of a huge glass window that let the light in. He sat on the window seal.

“There are for you…” He said and handed out the bouquet for me. I stared at the light pink, white carnations, and baby’s breath bouquet and accepted them.

“You were a real piece of shit.” I said to him. He cringed and picked the skin of his palm.

“I-I know. And I want to make it up to you.” He responded.

“How will you make it up? Everyone thinks I’m some loner who was in a one-sided relationship. Everyone has a picture of me! How will you fix that, huh!?” I said loudly.

Felix was silent for a small moment. “I’ll tell everyone! I’ll tell everyone that I do in fact love you! And that I was a pussy for not believing in us!” He said. He pleaded, though I’m not sure if I want to believe him.

“And the photo?” I asked.

“I’ll tell everyone it’s a fake! That I made it up! Or I’ll personally go through everyone’s phone and delete it! Anything to fix it! Please, Adrian!” He said. His ragged breath and crouching stance indicated he was vulnerable right now.

And it would be the perfect moment for me to strike him.

But… I’m willing to see how much Felix is willing to change. How much he could grow from this.

“Fine.” I said. He looked up with a look of relief.

“You mean it?” He asked.

I nodded. “But that doesn’t mean I’ll forgive you. You’ll need to work on yourself and our relationship if we want this to work. And if at any moment you fuck up, we’re over! Got it?” I asked.

“Of course, Adrian! Of course!” He said. He jumped up and gave me a tight hug.

“The flowers, Felix!” I said. He split away quickly and looked down at the crushed flowers.

“I’ll buy you new ones!” He quickly told me. I smiled at him and he tried to lean in for a kiss.

I stopped him by putting my palm on his lips. “Not yet, Felix. First, fix what you broke, then we can go back to how things were.” I said.

“I’m not sure things will be the same again…” He added.

“What do you mean?” I asked.

“Cause soon, everyone is gonna know that Felix Anderson is gay. And is in love with Adrian Jenkins.” He replied.

It took me so much not to lean in and give him the biggest hug and kiss. However, I need to control myself first.

But hopefully, Felix manages to actually come through with his promises.

well, cheers mate! <3

Adrian’s POV

“I’m outside your place, Adrian.” Felix said into the phone. I looked down from my window and saw Felix leaning against the hood of his car.

I sucked in my stomach, knowing that Felix was going to be doing the effort to prove that he’s worthy. Whether he succeeds, we’ll see. But I’m betting it all that he will.

“Where are you going?” Mom asked me. I was about to open the front door when both mom and dad ambushed me.

“Out.” I said. My hand grabbed the doorknob and opened it. Felix was at the front door already.

“Who’s your friend?” Dad asked.

“This is Felix Anderson.” I said, presenting an awkward Felix to my family.

“An Anderson? Interesting…” Dad replied. He held out his hand to Felix who shook it.

“Paul Jenkins, I’m Adrian’s dad. And this here is my lovely wife, Erin Jenkins.” Dad said.

“Nice to meet you both. I’m Felix Anderson. Your son’s boyfriend.” Felix said. Dad and mom both gave each other a look.

I glared at Felix. He realized what he’d said and quickly turned around and raced to his car. I looked at my parents who were whispering to each other.

“I told you!” Mom whispered to dad.

“I thought he was gonna tell us himself!” Dad replied to my mom. Choosing not to stick around, I snuck out and ran to my car.

Felix was already in his car and had it turned on. I hopped into the passenger seat.

“What did you do?!” I said to him.

“I thought you were out to your parents!” Felix replied.

“Not yet! I was planning to soon! Now they know that I’m gay and already have a boyfriend!” I said.

“Oh, my bad, heh…” Felix said. I turned to look at the window of my home and saw mom and dad looking at us in the car.

“Drive! Drive right now!” I told Felix quickly. He turned on his car and quickly pulled out from the front of the house.

“Sorry I did that. I just wanted to take the leap, starting with your parents.” Felix apologized.

“Not gonna say it’s fine. But at least my parents didn’t freak out at me. So, we’ll see until later.” I said.

Felix kept driving with one hand while his right hand tried to get closer to my hand. He wanted to hold my hand, something he used to do pre-picture incident.

“Where are we going?” I asked Felix, trying to ignore my desire to hold his hand.

“We’re going to that one boba shop on Miller Avenue.” He said.

“Miller Ave? Isn’t that…?”

“Right next to our school? Yeah, it is.” He responded.

“Aren’t you worried people’ll see?” I asked.

Felix stopped at a red light and grabbed my hand after so long of teasing. “Maybe I want them to see.” He said.

Once we reached the boba shop, a wave of nerves rushed over me. I’m expecting Felix to rush over to his car right now and speed away.

But the moment he held my hand and opened the door for me let me know that Felix was in this for the long run.

“One black tea and one taro milk tea, please?” Felix said.

I watched in awe as Felix paid for our drinks and gave me an adorable smile.

“How am I doing so far?” He asked me.

“Pretty good. You’re on your way to earning a kiss.” I told him.

“I sure hope so…” Felix replied. There is now that awkward moment when you’re waiting for your order but boba shops are run by underpaid teens who are overworked.

“Felix?” Some said from behind us. He turned and saw one of his baseball buddies coming in.

“Lonny! How you been!” Felix asked. The two exchanged words for a while until Lonny looked down at our hands connected.

“Are you two a thing?” He asked.

“Mhm. He’s my boyfriend.” Felix said to him. Lonny was silent for a moment.

“Cool. That’s cool.” Lonny said. He turned when it was his turn to order. “Don’t let me stop y’all. Enjoy your day!” And he left.

I sighed in relief. “I thought I was gonna get hate crimed…” I said.

“Lonny’s cool. He wouldn’t hurt anyone.” Felix reminded me.

Our order was called and once we had our drinks in hand, we left the store.

“Where to now?” I asked Felix.

“Anywhere you want.” He replied.

I’m starting to feel a shift in Felix now. No longer is he the paranoid DL guy. Now, he’s Felix, my boyfriend and proud to be so.

Adrian’s POV

“You sure about this?” I whimpered.

“I’m sure. You’ll be fine. If you feel uncomfortable, just squeeze my hand and I’ll stop.” Felix replied.

“Ngh, fine! Just do it!” I said.

Felix opened the car door and went to my side to let me out. I got out and Felix grabbed my backpack for me, holding it on his right shoulder. I adjusted Felix’s varsity jacket that he insisted I wear today…

It was Felix’s idea that today, he would officially come out and introduce to the world that we’re dating. I, at first, wasn’t on board with the varsity jacket idea, but Felix mentioned that to make this really real, he wants people to know that not only was I taken, but was Felix’s.

Sounds possessive, a little like some werewolf fanfic, but it’s sweet.

Felix held my left hand with his right and we began our walk to the entrance.

The gasps from my peers and whispers kinda began to remind me of the stares a few days ago when that picture came out. Only this time, I didn’t feel shame. I didn’t feel like a slut. I felt free. Liberated.

“Smile big. And remember, I love you.” Felix whispered in my ear. My hand began sweating.

“Felix… I think I’m gonna throw up.” I whispered.

“You’re good! Just think of how much you love me.” He said. That just made me want to throw up more.

Felix held my hand and began leading me down the hall. His oversized varsity jacket over my sweater felt like I was insulated and warm. I noticed Felix was leading me towards my locker.

“Get your books.” He said. I opened my locker and grabbed my books while Felix was looking down at me with a sexy smirk. “Remember what you said after we got boba?” He asked.

“I said a lot.” I replied.

“You said that I was close to earning a kiss.” He said. I looked up at him.

“Do you want to…?”

“Kiss here? In front of everyone? If you’ll let me.” He said. I turned and saw people gossiping, probably wondering why I’m wearing Felix’s jacket.

“You won’t feel uncomfortable?” I asked.

“I’m betting it all. Kiss me right now.” Felix said.

‘Here goes nothing’ I said to myself. I closed my locker and stood in front of Felix. His hand went to my hair and played with a small strand. Felix’s eyes have never looked more in love than they do.

I guess he deserves a kiss.

I tiptoed up and planted a kiss on his lips. My goal was to quickly back away but Felix put his hand behind my head and forced the kiss to last longer. His tongue then tried to enter my mouth but I didn’t want to.

Once he let me go, my face was flushed in red.

“What the hell, Felix?” I whispered.

“Right, just a kiss.” He replied he didn’t just try to mouth fuck me in front of the whole school.

“Why did you bring me to school early?” I asked him.

“Cause I want you to hang out with my friends. I wanna introduce them to you.” Felix said.

“I’m not sure about that.” I told him.

“C’mon. They’re gonna love you!” Felix said. After more persuasion, I gave in to meet Felix’s friends.

Felix grabbed my hand and slung my backpack over his shoulder and started dragging me outside. His large steps almost caused me to fall over. There was a small table under an oak tree where a large group of people were sitting.

When they noticed Felix coming in with me in tow, they all turned. “Hey guys!” Felix eagerly said.

“Hey Felix.” Someone replied.

“They’re looking at me…” I whispered to Felix.

Felix looked down at me then his friends. His arm extended to hug me closer to him. “This is Adrian, my boyfriend. Can he join us?” Felix asked. The people in the group were left speechless.

A few seconds of awkwardness felt like hours. But then someone spoke up.

“Sure. He can join. We’re planning a trip to Berkeley.” A girl whom I remembered vaguely as Lynn replied.

“Perfect!” Felix said and slowly brought me to the table.

Everyone was silent for a bit until it felt like they went back to their conversation as before. I sighed in relief and Felix squeezed my hand.

“You okay?” He asked.

“Mhm. I’m good.” I replied.

“Adrian? Adrian?” Someone called my name. I turned and saw a girl looking at me. “Wanna join us?” She asked.

“Join what?” I asked.

“Our trip. Sine you’re dating Felix, it feels right to include you, right?” She said. I smiled and looked at Felix.

“Sure. I’ll join.” I said.

Maybe this won’t be so bad.

Felix’s POV

“Text me when lunch begins. You’re sitting with me!” I told Adrian.

“Yes! You’ve told me five times already! I’m gonna be late!” He said.

“Alright! Fine.” I gave in. “Wait!” Before I let Adrian go from our hug, I pulled him back in and kissed his cheek in front of everyone.

“I’ll text you later.” Adrian said with a red face.

“Bye!” I said as he began to walk away to enter the school. I stood there waiting until he finally entered the school.

I began to collect my books from off the table until I felt a small smack on my shoulder from behind. I turned and saw Dean.

“Dude! I didn’t know you were actually gay! What gives?” He asked.

“What do you mean?” I asked him.

“Last week, you said that you were just fucking with Adrian. Now, you’re openly kissing him. What happened?” He asked. I looked at where Adrian just entered.

“Adrian makes me feel like I’ve never felt before. I’d be an idiot to let that go. I fucked up and I’m just lucky he gave me a second chance. I’m not fucking it up this time.” I said.

“Wow. He’s really got you on a leash. You sound like an Ed Sheeran song.” Dean giggled.

“Shut up!” I scoffed but also smiled to myself.

As everyone left, I knew what I needed to do. I began to scour the halls and every empty crevice. That’s when I decided to check the girls’ bathroom.

“Lauren!” I called out.

“Felix? Get out! This is the girl’s bathroom!” She said. I noticed her trying to hide a vape pen.

“Listen. You spread that picture of Adrian. Is there any way you can maybe tell people it’s a fake or something?” I asked.

“Who?” She asked.

“Adrian. You spread a photo of him with his ass out.” I reminded her. The gears in her brain began turning.

“Oh, right! I heard you two are an actual thing now. Heh…” She laughed and took a hit from her pen. “Ugck, this shit tastes bad.” She said. “Sure. But it’s gonna cost ya.” She said. She rubbed her fingers together as if she wanted money.

“No way! I’m not paying you.” I said.

“Alright. Then I won’t do anything. Unless you give me something.” She said.

“How about a lawsuit? Or police charges? It can easily be traced back to you. And everyone will know what you did and look down on your life.” I said, leaning closer to her. Her back hit the wall. “What do you say?” I asked.

“F-Fine! I’ll tell people it’s a fake! God!” She groaned.

The bathroom door opened and a girl walked in.

“This is the girls’ bathroom!” She yelled.

“Shut up, Linda!” Both Lauren and I said to her. The girl immediately walked out the bathroom.

“I’ll be honest, Felix. You kinda gave me gay vibes.” She puffed from her vape pen.

“Really? What made you think that?” I asked.

“You once wore a pink crop top to school for months on end. Everyone thought you were just expressive and into fashion.” She leaned in and blew smoke in my face. “But I know what you really are.” She said.

“You scare me. Can’t believe you caught that I was gay.” I said. Lauren began to gather her makeup from the sink and stuff it in her bag. She walked towards the trashcan and turned around.

“Takes one to know one.” She winked. “I’ll see you around, Felix. Good luck on your relationship as an openly gay man.” She said and walked out the bathroom.

Welp, this took a turn.

Lunch came and I was so excited to tell Adrian about what I did. His small frame was walking over to where I was. His face was already red because I kept yelling his name from across the room to him.

“Can you be any louder? You’re scaring the boy!” Lynn said.

“Don’t you dare tempt me.” I gave her a glare.

Adrian reached the table. I removed my backpack from the seat next to me and let him sit there.

“Why do I feel like I’m some sort of celebrity now?” He asked.

“Honey, you bagged the most sought after guy in the whole school. You were vindicated from the past rumors and proved everyone wrong that Felix was in fact in love with you. It really should be no surprise.” Brenda explained.

Adrian sat there and was thinking for a bit. “Yeah. I guess.” He said.

I explained everything to Adrian about my conversation with Lauren. He was happy that he might get to live through that. Although it never should’ve happened in the first place.

When school came to an end, Ryan pulled me aside in the hallway.

“I need to talk to Adrian.” He said. I looked at him.

“So go talk to him.” I replied.

“Dude, he’s not gonna want to talk to me. Can you give him a message for me?” Ryan asked.

I guess since he’s my little brother I’ll do this for him.

Adrian’s POV

“Ryan wants to talk to you.” Felix told me in the car.

“About?” I asked.

“Something about wanting to make amends.” Felix replied. I sat and thought.

“Do I have to forgive him?” I asked.

“This isn’t for me to decide. It’s up to you. But no matter what, I’ll understand what you decide.” Felix replied.

Ryan said he wanted to meet in the boys’ locker room before his basketball game. I entered the musty smelling locker room and sat in the place I normally sit at.

The shower door opened and out came Ryan with a towel over his torso. He’s strong, but Felix is better in my opinion. It’s not even biased, it’s common knowledge.

“Woah! You actually came!” Ryan said, standing shocked.

’ That’s what she said .’ I said in my head.

“Why wouldn’t I?” I asked.

“Cause- nevermind. I’m sure Felix gave you an idea about what I wanted to talk about.” Ryan said. He took a seat next to me.

“Something about making amends.” I replied.

“Yeah. So, I was angry. I held a grudge for something many years ago and was immature.” He started off. “I guess now that I see that not only are you pretty chill but got the approval of my bro, I started to see how shitty I was to you.” He said.

“Took you a while.” I responded.

“Yeah. That’s on my part. I take full accountability. Actually, of course I do. It was all me. And for spreading that rumor that you were gay before you even came out. “ Ryan said.

“What about my sweater you’ve ruined?” I asked.

“I’ll Venmo you the price. Just tell me how much it was and I’ll pay up.” He said. He looked at me with expectancy.

“What do I say now?” I asked.

“Ion know? I’ve never apologized to anyone before.” Ryan said.

I thought about his words. How apologetic he sounded for what he did. And the future of our relationship.

“I don’t forgive you.” I said.

“What?! Why not?!” He said.

“While your words were sweet, I’ll need some actual improvement. Prove to me that you’ve really changed and I’ll decide right then and there.”

Ryan huffed and had a grumpy face.

“That makes sense, I guess.” He said.

“I’ll be leaving now. Good luck on your game.” I said.

“Thanks. Good luck, um, dating my brother…” Ryan said.

It’s weird, but it’s a start.

My nose breathed in the clear air of outside. I called Felix who was waiting for me in the parking lot.

“How’d it go?” He asked.

“Pretty okay. I’m giving him a chance to prove he’s changing. We might become friends!” I cheered.

“Aww. My brother and boyfriend are becoming friends! My life is so perfect.” Felix said. He sighed and I heard something on the other line.

“What are you doing?” I asked. His car came into my vision from ahead.

“I have a gift for you when you get here.” He said.

I was going to ask what it was but imagine my surprise when I saw through the window his belt unbuckled and his hard dick out.

“I’m gonna bite that thing off if you think I’m blowing you in a school parking lot.” I said. Felix turned and saw me standing outside his window. His face turned red and he rolled down his window.

“So that’s a no on the car blowjob?” He asked with doe eyes.

“It’s a no.” I replied.

“Not yet.” He softly whispered.

“No, not ever!” I said to him.

Sometimes it feels like I’m the adult in the relationship.

Adrian’s POV

“Honey, your BOYFRIEND is here!” Mom yelled for me from the living room.

Ever since they found out I was gay, they’ve been acting strange around me. They’d make weird remarks towards me or try to do something that are stereotypes. While I appreciate the effort, my dad asking me if I wanted to start buying jockstraps was the final push.

“Mom! Just say Felix is here! You don’t have to say boyfriend like that!” I told her.

“Why not? I like saying it. He’s your boyfriend !” She giggled. Before I could leave from the front door, mom stopped me. “Wait! Could we go clothes shopping after school?” She asked.

“Why me? Don’t you have friends, mom?” I said.

“Yeah, but I’d figured you have the best fashion taste. Right, Paul?” She asked dad.

“Yass!” Dad said in the most straight tone.

“Exactly! Yass!” Mom said.

“Look! Mom, dad. I get you two are… supporting of me. But really, I’m just trying to get through high school.” I told them.

“I know, honey. But we just want you to know that we love you. Not every openly gay teen has the chance for that.” Mom said. I hugged her close and patted her back.

“I’ll be fine, mom. I have you and now Felix.” I said. Dad also came and gave me a hug.

“I hope he treats you right.” Dad said.

“He does.” I told dad. Felix better treat me right. I could still cut off his dick if he doesn’t.

After Felix basically came out, he’s been seen as some gay icon at school. Being gay and proud of it was added to his list of great things about Felix, which only makes him more desirable. But Felix only has his eyes on one person. And that’s me.

I hope.

Since those days, Felix has wanted me to walk with him everywhere and ride to school with him. It’s a little weird because I have to see Ryan, who’s been demoted to backseat, while I sit passenger.

As soon as the both of us reached school, Felix’s friends, or I guess now, our friends, were waiting for us at the entrance.

They’ve taken me in as part of their squad now. And I’ve formed close bonds with many of his friends. I like how I’m not just perceived as Felix’s boyfriend but as my own person.

“Adrian! Come on! I need to tell you what I heard my cousin did to her dog in Wyoming!” Lynn eagerly said to me.

“Uh, sure. What they do?” I asked.

“So, my cousin has this dog that humps anything. And she has a sister that uses a wheelchair, right? So her sister fell off the wheelchair and was crawling on the floor and the dog came up behind her and-” Lynn was cut off by Felix.

“Excuse, Lynn. Can I borrow Adrian for a bit?” He asked.

“Go ahead, Anderson. I’ll tell you the rest when you get back.” She said.

Felix pulled me aside and first kissed me on the lips. He smiled down at me.

“You aren’t wearing my jacket.” He said.

“I left it at home. Sorry. I hope you aren’t upset.” I said.

“I could never be upset with you. Just return it to me soon cause they need us to add some stitches on it.” He said.

“Sure. I’ll have it for you soon.” I replied.

Felix dug into the pocket of his coat. “I forgot to give you this.” He said and pulled out a can of strawberry milk.

“Ooh! Nice. Thank you!” I eagerly said and began drinking the milk. Felix cleared his throat. “Hmm?” I said.

“You’re forgetting something…” He said.

“Uhhh… I don’t know what you mean…” I said.

“A kiss, Adrian.” Felix bent down and I planted a small smooch on his cheek. “Perfect. I’ll see you during lunch.” Felix said.

“Can you two hurry up! I have an update on my cousin and her sister!” Lynn screamed.

“Let’s go. I wanna hear the rest of this story.” I replied.

Felix and I returned back to the group hand in hand.

Adrian’s POV

Felix whispered in my ear. “I want you to meet my parents.” The words that scare any person when their partner mutters them.

“Your parents? But aren’t you still closeted to them?” I asked.

“I mean, I’ve been subliminaling messaging them by sending them rainbows emojis when ever I text them.” Felix said.

“Well how about my parents. They’ve been dying to meet you. They want you over for dinner.” I said.

“Alright. We’ll do your parents first and then mine. Then we’ll both be open to everyone we know.” Felix eagerly said.

“Sounds like a deal.” I replied.

There was a loud knock on Felix’s bedroom door.

“Felix! I’m hungry!” Ryan yelled.

“Order DoorDash. I’m busy!” Felix yelled. Felix’s hand began to roam down my body.

“Are you two fucking?! Oh ma God! Broooo!” Ryan yelled and his footsteps walked away from the door.

“Technically we weren’t. But we should.” I said.

“Ryan is outside.” Felix said.

“We’ve hooked up when there were hundreds of people in here. I’m sure Ryan can wait five minutes.”

“Five minutes. That’s it.” Felix replied.

When five minutes was up, Felix and I went to his kitchen to get some water. Ryan was watching TV and pretending we weren’t here.

“Y’know, I never expected this to happen.” Felix said, leaning against the island.

“What to happen?” I asked.

“This. Me and you dating, me coming out, Ryan starting to act like a decent human being.” He said.

“Don’t forget me having friends now. God, we’ve really changed in the last few weeks, huh?” I said.

“It’s a change for the better. If I could go back, I would do it all over again but this time, I’d be confident in us.” Felix said. He pulled me close to him and picked me up and set me on the island.

“I never want this end.” I sighed.

“Then let it not end. We have as long as we like.” Felix leaned in and kissed my neck.

“I’m still here, by the way!” Ryan yelled from the living room.

“Let’s go to your room and have some privacy.” I said.

“What are we gonna do?” He asked, running his hand up my thigh.

“We’re gonna watch The Office again and again and again. You don’t mind, right?” I asked.

“As long as I’m with you, I don’t mind.” He replied.

I hopped off the counter and grabbed Felix’s hand and began leading him back to his room.

When I turned and looked at Felix, my Felix, my heart grows bigger and brighter. It’s almost hard to understand and comprehend that this man is here with me. He loves me and I love him. I’d let him take me anywhere in the world with all my trust. I’d let him carry me when I’m down and I’d do the same for him.

A few weeks ago, I was just a guy, sitting alone in my room with no one. And that fateful night, Felix’s message came through and the rest is history.

I’d only known Felix as Felix Anderson.

He was my crush. He was the bully’s brother.

And now, he’s my other half.

“I love you, Adrian.” Felix said, laying next to me.

“I love you too, Felix.” I replied.

“Thanks for existing.” Felix said, looking into my eyes.

“Of course. Now shut up and watch the show.” I said to him.

We turned our attention to the TV and watched our show together.

Felix’s POV

I stood in front of the Jenkins residency with a bouquet of flowers in my hand and a bottle of wine in the other. The flowers are peonies, Adrian’s mother’s favorite flowers. After knocking on the door, it opened only a few seconds later.

“Felix!” Adrian eagerly said as he hugged me. “You actually came.”

“I’m not gonna miss the opportunity to meet my boyfriend’s parents.” I told him. He slapped my chest and brought me inside.

Standing in the middle of the living were both of his parents. His mom looked like an exact copy of Adrian. If she was single and younger, and I was straight, I probably would’ve gone for her. His dad was more serious, but I could see where Adrian got his brown eyes from.

“Say something,” Adrian whispered to me. He nudged my back and pushed me forward.

“Uh,” I stuttered out. “Good afternoon. I brought these for you.” I said, holding out the flowers for Mrs. Jenkins. “And this for you.” I held the wine bottle for Mr. Jenkins.

They took their gifts. Mrs. Jenkins had a smile on her face and was quick to hug me. “Don’t be so nervous, Felix.” She said.

She let go of me. Mr. Jenkins put the wine bottle down and held out his hand. I shook it, mainly because I was worried about what would happen if I didn’t shake it. Adrian told me his dad was a jokester and light hearted.

This man is smaller than me, and still terrifies me.

“Felix,” Mr. Jenkins said. “I’m entrusting you with my only son. Are you sure you can take care of him?” He asked me.

His face was stern. But I didn’t let him frighten me too much. “I will look after him.” I said. Mr. Jenkins then broke into a smile and brought me in for a hug.

“Ah, I’m only joking,” He said, then pulled away. “But seriously, Adrian is quite fragile. So look after him.” Mr. Jenkins then let go of my hand.

“Come! Dinner is almost ready!” Mrs. Jenkins said.

“I’m– I’m not fragile!” Adrian said as he stood next to me.

“Didn’t you cry while watching A Dog’s Purpose?” I asked.

“And La La Land?” Mr. Jenkins added.

Adrian’s face became red. “You were supposed to be on my side!” Adrian told me. I patted his hair and laughed.

“Looks like the baby is fussy. Let’s get you fed.” I told him.

The table was neatly set. In the middle was the bouquet of flowers I got for Adrian in a vase. Both Adrian and I sat next to one another while his parents sat across from us. Once the food was served, I thanked his mom for the meal and began to eat.

“Felix, I understand that you’re on the football team.” Mr. Jenkins said.

I wiped my mouth. “Yes, I am.” I replied. “Quarterback.”

“Do you plan on pursuing a career in football or something else? A talented player like you surely must be getting some offers from D1 schools.” Mr. Jenkins said.

“Uh, I’m actually not interested in pursuing a career in football.” I said. I could see Adrian looking at me through the corner of his eyes. “I’m more interested in pursuing architecture. Maybe I’ll play football in college, but just for fun.”

“Architecture, ey? Sounds like a good plan.” Mr Jenkins told me. “And you, Adrian? What do you want to do?” He then asked his son.

“Dad, high school barely gives us time to figure out what we want to do career wise. Besides, I have another year to find out everything.” Adrian said.

I resumed eating my food. After dinner was over, Adrian brought me to his room. I sat on his bed and saw the several pictures of us that he had on his wall.

Adrian closed the door and locked it. I thought he was going to do something sensual, but instead, he sat next to me on his bed.

“How come you never told me that you wanted to study architecture?” He asked me. Truth is, I haven’t told anyone about my plans.

“It’s… embarrassing.” I sighed. “Can you imagine hearing that thee Felix Anderson wants to go to college for architecture and not football?”

He grabbed my hand. “Then fuck them! Last time I remembered, you are Felix Anderson, not some random person! If they have a problem with it, it’s your future.”

I kissed Adrian firmly.

“You’re right. But then there’s my dad. How am I going to tell him that I don’t want to do football in college? He’s really been on my ass to get a good offer from a good school.”

“He’ll understand.” Adrian said.

He got on top of me and began to kiss me. I leaned up and placed my hands on his back to bring him closer.

“Aren’t your parents downstairs?” I asked him.

“Who cares?” He kissed my neck. “They should already know their son is a whore.”

I shrugged and resumed kissing him. I leaned back and landed on the bed, Adrian still on top of me. My hands began to roam on his ass.

“Boys!” A loud knock on the door interrupted us. It was Mrs. Jenkins. “Adrian Marcellus Jenkins Hudson! Unlock this door right now.”

Adrian huffed in frustration and got off of me. Before he unlocked the door, I signaled to my lap. I was visibly hard, so I got one of his pillows and covered myself. As he opened his door, his mom barged in.

“Hmm,” Mrs. Jenkins said. “You two aren’t doing anything of concern, right?” She asked us.

“No, ma’am.” I replied.

“Mom, you’re being weird.” Adrian said as he shook his head. Mrs. Jenkins walked out the room, but insisted the door remain open.

Adrian clicked his tongue and came to sit back next to me.

“Can’t a guy just get dick in peace?” He muttered.

“Come to my house on Friday. Ryan is going to his friends and my parents have a meeting in Los Angeles.” I told him. I kissed his neck to get him slightly aroused, and thus, more likely to accept my proposal.

“Fine.” He moaned. “Stop! I don’t want to get too excited.”

I stopped kissing his neck but did kiss him on the lips.

It was time for me to leave. I was at the front door when Adrian’s parents said goodbye to me. Adrian walked with me to my car and hugged me.

“Do you think they liked me?” I asked him.

“Of course they did.” He assured me. “And who wouldn’t? Everyone loves Felix Anderson.”

“Eh, I’m  okay with only you loving me.”

Adrian grabbed my hand and planted a kiss on it. “Get home safe. Text me when you arrive.”

I kissed him on the cheek and got in my car. I waved to him and drove down the street. As soon as I turned the corner, Adrian already started texting me about how much he missed me. I chuckled to myself at how adorable and attached he was to me.

Bonus 02

Adrian’s POV

Now that Felix had met my parents, it was my turn to meet his. It took him a while to be able to get his parents to agree to having dinner. And even then, Felix didn’t mention that it was going to be with his boyfriend.

Overall, I’m being put in a weird position tonight. Meeting my boyfriend’s parents is something I would have never imagined myself doing.

I rang the doorbell and waited for a bit. When it opened, I was met with Ryan.

“What are you doing here?” He asked me.

“Uh,” I signaled to the flowers in my hand. “Having dinner? The fuck?” I told him.

“Just cause I haven’t put my hands on you in weeks doesn’t mean you can smart mouth me, Jenkins!” Ryan warned me. I rolled my eyes and tiptoed up to see behind him.

“Can I see the real man of the house and not the chihuahua?” I said. Ryan was going to say something until a large hand landed on his shoulder. He froze in shock.

I looked up and saw a large man looking down at me. His face showed no sign of happiness. He had no smile lines nor any signs of aging. He just looked like Felix, but slightly older and more defined features.

His bushy eyebrows were furrowed. He pushed Ryan back and he took the hint, leaving from the front door. Ryan just gave me a smirk as he left.

“Who are you?” He asked with a booming voice. I shook a bit because of how deep it was.

“Uh,” I stuttered like an idiot. “I’m Adrian Jenkins!” I said.

Damnit, Felix! Why couldn’t you tell him that I was your boyfriend? Now I’m being put in an awkward situation with no idea how this is going to go.

“Dad!” I heard Felix say. His dad stepped aside and Felix appeared at the door. He gave me a smile before turning to his dad.

“Felix, anything you want to tell me?” His dad asked him. Felix’s face turned a bit red.

“Uh, not now.” He muttered. His dad glanced at me until he entered the house, leaving just me and Felix.

“This would’ve been easier if he at least knew.” I told him.

“Sorry about that,” He scratched his neck. “I held it off and didn’t tell him so that he won’t find a way to avoid the dinner. Come in! It’s a bit cold out.” Felix stepped aside.

The inside was warm. I saw that the fireplace was on. This isn’t my first time being here. But it is my first time here with Felix’s parents also here.

“Who is this?” A woman asked. I saw emerging from the kitchen was an older woman in a casual light blue dress. Her hair was let down in wavy curls. She looked similar to Ryan.

“Uh, mom. This is Adrian.” Felix said, standing next to me. I was nervous and shaking a bit. My knees were on the verge of giving up.

“Is this your…” She glared her eyes at me.

Felix nudged my back. I stumbled forward and held out the flowers for her. “These are for you!” I quickly said, forgetting to give her any pleasantries.

“Ah, thank you.” She took the flowers gracefully.

“I’m Adrian Jenkins. Felix’s uh…” I turned around and saw Felix looking nervous too. But he gave me a small nod. “I’m Felix’s boyfriend.”

Mrs. Anderson blinked her eyes a bit while glancing at both of us. But then her eyebrows raised a bit and she turned around.

“Ryan! Set the table!” She yelled out. Ryan was peeking his head from a side wall and sighed as he walked towards the kitchen.

“Do you think she was fine with it?” I asked Felix. Felix rubbed my hair and placed his other hand on my shoulder.

“I don’t know. She’s either in denial or just doesn’t care. They aren’t exactly the type to express emotions.” He told me.

Felix led me to the kitchen. This table was larger than the one at my house. At the head of the table was Mr. Anderson. He had loosened his tie and had the top two buttons undone, revealing a bit of his pecs and hair.

I was made to sit next to Felix, who sat on the right side of his dad. Across from me directly was Ryan and his mom on the dad’s left side. Mrs. Anderson passed around the bowl of food and we each served ourselves.

My knee was shaking up and down. I could feel a bit of sweat running down the side of my face and subtly wiped it when no one was looking. There was no conversation. Felix did warn me that their dinners are quiet affairs.

I wasn’t used to this much. My parents love to talk during dinner. They’ll talk about their days and ask me how it was at school. And they’ll ask me about Felix and our relationship. Silence just feels strange at the time.

Mrs. Anderson brought out dessert after dinner was done. And once again, we ate dessert in silence. I probably would have fallen asleep if Ryan and I weren’t fighting each other with our legs under the table.

Then dessert was done, and Mr. Anderson cleared his throat loudly, causing me, Felix, and Ryan to jump.

“Ryan, could you please excuse us?” Mr. Anderson said to him. Ryan quickly got up and ran out of the kitchen without hesitation. I looked at Felix, who looked frozen in his seat.

Then, silence. Nothing was said. I expected for Mr. Anderson to shout at Felix. But instead, he sat in his seat and just tapped his fingers on the table, looking at his wife.

Upon closer look, I saw Mrs. Anderson doing some small gestures with her hand. It was then that I came to the realization that two must be talking without using words.

Finally, after a few minutes, Mrs. Anderson cleared her throat. “Felix,” She said. “Could you explain when this happened?”

Felix sat up in his seat. “You mean when I turned gay? Because that’s not how it works.” He said.

“Right,” His mom muttered. “When did you realize that you were gay? Surely it wasn’t just recently.”

“No, mom. I only just decided to accept myself recently. It was a few years ago. We were watching Top Gun, and I guess you can consider that my gay awakening.” Felix said.

“I thought you liked that movie because of Kelly McGillis.” She said.

“Nah. It was the volleyball scene that did it for me. That’s why I always suggested we watch that movie.”

“That was a good scene.” His mom said. She turned to her husband and quickly stopped smiling.

Then his dad spoke. “Felix,” He said. “I’m going to be honest, I’m not exactly sure how to feel about this.”

“I’m still your son. Nothing about me has changed.” Felix said while lowering his head.

“Yes, I know that. But it’s just… different. I’ve had this image of you marrying a sweet girl one day. Now, those images are going to be replaced with you marrying a guy instead.” Mr. Anderson said.

“So you feel off because I’m not meeting your expectations! Haven’t I already done enough for you! I’ve gotten perfect scores on every exam! I’ve attended all those tutoring lessons you pay for, even at the detriment of myself and my relationships! Hell, I even joined football because you wanted to have a child be an athlete prodigy!”

Felix was starting to get irate. His mom was quick to try and calm them down. “Let’s take a moment to relax.”

“Even Ryan stepped up his game and joined basketball because he saw how proud you were of me and wanted that fatherly love!”

“I have given everything to raise you boys to be excellent men!” His dad retaliated. “The least you could’ve done is marry a woman and raise a good family like I did. Or least thought I did. Instead, you want to be rebellious and get with some queer!”

“Julius Anderson!” Mrs. Anderson loudly said. “Don’t you dare talk to your son and his boyfriend like that!”

I placed my hand on Felix’s shoulder to slowly pull him away, since he and his father were almost at each other’s throats.

“Felix, Adrian, could you please excuse us?” Felix’s mom told us. I grabbed his hand and began to lead him out of the kitchen and into the living room.

I sat him on the couch and took a seat next to him. Felix was still glaring at the kitchen door. “Are you trying to burn a hole in the wall?” I asked him to lighten the mood.

“I’m sorry, Adrian. I didn’t expect this dinner to go this way.” Felix said to me. He placed his head on my shoulder, leaning his body into mine.

“Hey, at least I’m here with you. And it sounds like your mom is on your side. It’s not like your dad outright hated it. Like he said, he isn’t used to it.” I explained to him. Felix only let out a sigh.

“Let’s get out of here.” He said, sitting back up. “Wanna go get ice cream? I could use something sweet right now.”

I watched Felix stand up from the couch and hold out his hand for me. His parents were still talking in the kitchen loudly. This would be a great distraction for us. So I took his hand and joined him.

As we walked towards the car, we heard a pair of footsteps behind us. Ryan was putting on his coat and walking behind us. “Mind if I join?” He asked.

Felix rolled his eyes. “Sure. But you’re sitting in the back. My passenger prince gets first priority.” He said.

Ryan huffed but agreed to sit in the back. We got in the car and Felix drove out of the driveway and down the street.

I held his free hand and interlocked our fingers. I’m going to be by his side and not let him go. We’ll get through this together.

Bonus 03

Adrian’s POV

On a cold winter day, Felix and I were huddled in front of his fireplace with the fire going and a thick blanket over us. I sat between his legs while he hugged my chest back. We had no school, meaning we could spend as much time together as possible.

I could feel Felix’s chest rising and falling as he took in deep breaths. His heartbeat was slow, but rose slowly whenever I moved around.

“Adrian,” He whispered in my ear. “Did I tell you that I love you?”

“Yes, you did. Five times in the last hour, actually.” I reminded him. In reality, he must’ve said it 20 times, but I didn’t want him to feel bad for being overbearing with his words.

“How are you doing in your classes? I’m going to need you to get good grades.”

“What are you? My counselor?” I chuckled lightly.

“I’m serious, Adrian. I want us to be able to go to the same college. And if not the same college, then at least in the same city.” He told me. I sat up, away from his arms, and turned to look at him.

His face was serious. I thought for a moment he was joking. But he was sure of this proposition. I haven’t thought about our future. Felix is a year older than me. Which means that he’ll be going to college first and I’ll be alone.

“Isn’t it too early to think about that?” I asked nervously, sitting a bit farther from him.

“My love, I graduate in 6 months. Then, I have about 2 months of summer. Then I’m gone wherever I decide to go. It’s never too early to plan for our future.” He told me.

I looked at the fire and could feel the heat landing on my face. He was right. In a few months, Felix will be gone and I’ll be alone. Well, not alone exactly. Sure, I’ve made a few friends since being introduced to Felix’s group. But he is the one I’m close to.

“Say that we were both to go to school in the same city, how would our relationship continue? Will we be able to continue to make way for each other, or will we be swamped with work?” I asked him.

Felix just smiled, putting his hand on my face and rubbing my cheek. “I’ll always make time for you. No matter if I have a final that very next day or just simply doing nothing, I’ll call or visit you.”

“How would your dad react if he found out we were going to the same school?” I asked.

“My dad is still… struggling to come to terms with me. He chooses to just ignore it all together when he’s here. But who cares what my dad thinks. It’s you that I care about.” He told me.

I leaned back on his chest and let his arms wander on my bare stomach. His hands were warm and glided over my stomach slowly.

“We’ll create a plan when you decide on what college to go to. From there, I’ll research nearby schools and find which one I like and how close it is.” I said.

“Or, we could always do long distance,” Felix said.

“Nothing against long distance relationships, but there’s just something about being able to easily hold your hand with only a short car ride brings me a sense of relief. I want us to grow together, together .” I told him.

I could feel Felix place his chin on top of my head.

“Then that’s what we’ll do.”

My hands landed on top of his on my chest. My fingers rubbed over his hands. His chest was warming up my back.

“Am I that important to you that our future depends on it?” I asked him.

“Yes, you are. I feel like I can be myself around you without having to put up some facade.”

The warmth from the fire was starting to make me sleepy.

“I know I’ve fucked up during our relationship. And I’m still apologizing for everything I’ve ever done to hurt you. I hope that my efforts have at least healed the wounds I’ve caused you.” He told me.

I turned my head around, just enough for me to be able to kiss him.

“We still have ways to go. But don’t worry, your efforts haven’t gone in vain.”

Felix let out a yawn too.

“Tired?” I asked him.

“Yeah, I am. Wanna go to sleep?” He asked me.

“It’s only 12. We have to have lunch soon.”

He chuckled into my hair and squeezed my body.

“Who cares? I have snacks in my room. We’ll go and have a quick bite, then have a nap session. Does that sound fun?”

I nodded. “Yeah, it does. But I’m cold and I don’t want to get up.” I said.

Felix made me scoot forward, and he got off the couch. Before I could ask him what he was doing, he bent down and picked me up. I was still covered in the blanket and was now in his arms as he walked towards the stairs.

“Wait! Aren’t you cold?” I told him.

“A little. But you can warm me up in bed.” He smiled at me.

Felix walked past Ryan’s room. Felix banged his fist loudly on his door and just kept walking. Ryan cursed Felix for bothering him again.

Inside Felix’s room, he put me on the bed and turned on the heater. Then, he joined me under the covers and spooned behind me.

“Isn’t this nice?” I heard him say.

“It is. Imagine how it will be when we go to college?”

“God, I’m really not gonna have time for anything. I’ll have school, exams, and the rest of my time for you. You really are my center of everything.”

Felix began to grind himself against me. I tried to ignore it, but his small thrusts became too forceful to ignore.

“Felix…” I whispered. “What are you doing?” I asked him.

“Baking a cake. What do you think?” He asked.

I turned around and my face landed on in between his pecs.

“I love you.” I said to him.

“And you will always know that I love you.” He replied. We both kissed each other.

The room was now warm. I snuggled against Felix, while he adjusted himself down there. He pouted when I refused his advances but just agreed for us to sleep.

We both ended up sleeping. I woke up earlier than him. Our nap must’ve been an hour. So while I waited for Felix to wake up, I stared at him as he slept.

His jet black hair was messily falling over his forehead. I ran my hand to push it back to its slicked back position. Felix has some of the most beautiful eyelashes. I always compliment them, but he gets ashamed of them.

My eyes traced from his hair to his jawline, a sharp feature. Then it trailed down his neck and to his collar.

“Am I that handsome?” I heard Felix say. His eyes were open and he was smiling at me.

“Yes, you are.” I replied.

Felix sat up and rubbed his eyes from sleep. “You hungry?” He asked.

“Yup. I could get us some snacks-”

He grabbed my hand. “How about we make lunch together.” He told me.

“Okay. Let’s get dressed.” I said. We both changed into some warm clothes and walked out of his room, towards the kitchen.

Ryan was sitting at the kitchen table with an empty bowl in front of him.

“What did you have?” Felix asked his brother.

“Cereal, cause some bitches decided to sleep instead of making food.” Ryan glared at his brother.

“Aren’t you 16?” Felix said. “Adrian and I are making food. Could you leave?”

“Nah, I’m hungry.” Ryan folded his arms across his chest.

“Very well.” Felix said. He pulled out a few things and charged me with cutting some vegetables. As I was cutting them, Felix’s hand roamed to my behind and began fondling me.

“Nevermind,” I heard Ryan say, then heard him leave the kitchen.

Felix turned to watch his brother. When he was gone, a smirk came on his face and he turned to me.

“Now, where were we?” He asked.

“You were tendering the meat.” I said.

I was hoping that he would continue with his task, since he was tendering the meat. But his hand returned to my bottom and he began to squeeze it.

“Not that meat.” I told him while giggling.

“Whatever.” He said.

I cooked beside him while Felix did his task. I turned to see him and felt myself getting giddy on the inside. It was hard to believe that this was my boyfriend and that he loves me.

I’m just grateful that happiness finally found itself for me. Because for the longest time, I wondered when it would be my turn. And eventually, I got it.

I got Felix Anderson as mine. And I am not letting him go. No matter the distance between us.
