PROLOGUE : What happened after

After 5 years…

ALVEAR

“And last pose… Nice!” The camera man said and I nodded. “We’re done for today, good job everyone!” He shouted and that’s when I started to grab my clothe that my manager was holding and wore it.

A lot of people, a lot of cameras, a lot of lights.

These are the things that are not new to me.

“Alvear, as usual, I never had any hard time with you. Thank you for your time.” The magazine producer said.

Yes, I go with the name

Alvear

now.

A 50 year old woman, with a pink-colored hair. Wearing fancy and expensive clothes. “Thank you, Ma’am. It’s my pleasure to work with you.” I said to her.

She is Madam E. Short for

Ezmeralda

. The woman who is on top of the fashion world here in America.

She’s been dominating the whole fashion world because of her collection and connection.

According to some articles that I have read since I first came here, in America, she started from being just a simple dreamer who had her chance and proven herself.

It only took her two years just to be on top of the chain.

And up until now, she’s still on top.

“Nahh, it IS my pleasure to work with a talented model like you and have you as the front cover of my magazine.” She answered.

“You’re giving me too much credits, Ma’am E. I owe my photos to the people behind all of my photo shoots.” I said.

Madam E nodded at me and smiled, “yeah, I guess so. I owe it to all of you.” She quickly said.

She’s old but it doesn’t show because she’s being covered by her ornaments.

The two of us first met at a fashion show I attended with Mama. It turned out that the show was hers.

There she showed her collection of dresses and gowns.

And after that, our paths crossed and it was the start of my career. Yes, Madam E was the one who introduced me to the fashion industry and of course, it wasn’t easy.

She told me to brace myself and always be ready for I will be facing a lot.

And it was true. I faced a lot. I met many people and experienced a lot of things.

I took her advises seriously and those helped me a lot and put me to where I am today.

It’s hard to admit but this woman? I owe it to her. I do.

“I’ll be taking my leave, then. I’m afraid I can’t have a dinner with you because I have something important to do. Sorry, Madam E.” I said and just hugged her and kissed her on her cheek.

“That’s okay, Alvear. Take your time, we’ll have dinner together next time, maybe?” He said, I nodded.

“Good bye, Madam.” I said and started walking my way out of the building.

“Alvear, what did you just say?” My manager asked me as the two of us are walking.

I looked at her and smiled, “I lied to her, okay? I just don’t want to have a dinner with her because all of what I’ll get are her boring topics and whatsoever and I’m so tired to even listen to her that I’d rather go home and sleep all day long.” I explained in exhaustion.

Lily just shook her head and looked at me in disbelief. “My gosh, Alvear!” She exclaimed as she walked pass me and quickly opened the door of the car that has been waiting for us to arrive.

“I hope she will forget the dinner the next time we meet cause I’ll just have to think of another excuse if she doesn’t.” I said and hopped inside the car.

“You are so mean, Alvear!” She said in disbelief. “Why not try to have just a single dinner with her? I’m sure she’ll have another topic by then.” She added.

It was my turn to shake my head, “nahh, won’t happen and will never happen.” I said to her.

“Fine.” She finally said in defeat and closed the door, “make sure to go home straight and take enough rest. You haven’t been able to sleep for almost a day now.” She reminded me.

“Yes, Mama.” I jokingly said.

Lily just pouted and stepped back, and started waving at me as the car started to move.

“Bye, Lily! Take care!” I shouted at her as the car I was in is getting far from her.

Finally, when I had my time alone, I leaned on the seat of the car and took my phone and plugged my earphones on it.

Just as I was about to play the first song on my play list, I had a glance at the billboard on my upper left side.

Alvear

Cruz, the rising star.

The billboard has my photo. I was looking at somewhere as I was leaning on my hands.

I smirked at the captions.

Rising star?

I’m not sure. I’m not a star, I am simply a model.

Being a star is something.

Yes, a model. Here in America.

Everything has changed. I have changed and that change was for good.

For the past 5 years, I have put or more likely dedicated all of my time on learning the right ways to do in modeling.

I started to make myself busy. Busy with the modeling career and somehow helping my father in running our business.

Still, I don’t —maybe will never—forget what happened exactly five years now.

It was a tragic day. Unexpected moment. A nightmare.

Nobody knew that was coming, neither I nor

them.

All of us had no idea about that and yet, it happened.

I sighed and shook my head and banished the thought in my head.

“You should not be thinking about that, Alvear.” I said to myself and put on the earphones and played the music.

And as I listened to the song, I started falling asleep.

I felt someone tapping my shoulder and that’s when I opened my eyes slowly and removed my earphones.

“Sir Alvear, we have arrived.” The driver said.

“Oh, okay.” I said and he left me. After fixing myself, I got out of the car and that’s when I saw my mom waving at me.

I smiled at her and started walking toward her.

“Hey there, Ma.” I said and kissed her cheeks.

Yes, cheeks because she wants it that way. Mama even said to me that I should just kiss one cheek if it is not her.

I know, Mama is childish sometimes but I like it just that.

She hasn’t changed a bit.

“How was your day?” She immediately asked the same question she asks every time we meet.

“Ma, my day was tiring and I want to eat. Anything will do, so long as it’s your cooking.” I said, with my lips pouted.

“Allyson, don’t act like a baby. You’re 23 years old.” She hissed.

Says the one who’s childish.

I guess, everything doesn’t change according to how you want it to change. Old habits never die, just like how Mama calls me.

It’s still Allyson even though I am telling her every time to call me

Alvear

.

“But I know you’ll like what I cooked today.” She said, “it’s BU-LA-LO!” She proudly added.

Damn! It’s fucking

bulalo

!

“You the best!” I said and went immediately to the kitchen.

“Nak…” I heard Mama said.

I looked at her and put the spoon down, “yes, Ma.” I said.

“Tagalog muna ako, ha?” She asked, smiling. I nodded and continued to eat again.

“I want to go back to the Philippines.” She said which caught me off guarded. I coughed hard, making the spoon I was holding to slip in my hand.

Philippines…

Hearing that word made me remember a lot of things.

“W-Why?” I asked her as I started getting a tissue and wipe my mouth.

She looked down for a bit and looked back at me again, “well, maganda naman dito, nak pero I feel home sickness. Alam mo yun?” Sabi niyang pabiro.

“Of course, Ma.” I answered as I was looking at her.

“At miss ko na ang klima dun, I don’t know but gusto ko lang talagang bumalik na dun.” Mama added and smiled a little.

“But what about Papa? Did you two talk about it?” I asked, “what about the business?” I added.

“Yes, Nak.” She said, “of course we talked it out seriously and your Papa agreed with it.” She added.

“B-But we’re good as it is here right now, Ma. Why all of a sudden?” I asked, voice raising a bit.

Mama smiled, “I expected this, Nak. Ang sa akin lang naman, tinanong lang kita. Nasa sayo parin naman ang desisyon.” She calmly said as she started holding my hand, “if you don’t want, then we won’t go and will just stay here.” She added and let go of my hand.

“But Ma…” I said.

“I know, I know, Allyson.” She said, nodding her head. She knows why I am being like this.

Of course she does. She was there, the one who comforted me as I was going through that tragic day.

She was the one. The one who cleaned all of the mess that were thrown on me. She was the one who fought all the people who were criticizing me.

She basically fought for me for she is my Mother

. That’s what she said back then.

But

I don’t want to. I don’t want to go back there.

I know it may sound rude, not wanting to go back to where you grew up but I don’t want to remember all the pain that I left there behind.

I am fine right now, here, in this place. Everything is going well. I don’t want to hurt myself anymore.

And I don’t want to see

them.

Them

who were the cause of what happened that day.

Them

who were the reason for this change.

AUTHOR

Dear readers,

So, just like what I’ve said, this is the book II of the The Indecent Deal and I decided to give it the title The Last Trade and you’ll know why I did that as the story progresses.

This book will be depicting the lives of our protagonists (Allyson and the twins, Conan and Connor) 5 years after their lives in book I.

This book is a lot more matured, thrilling and bolder than the previous book and I guarantee you all that.

This book will also show how the protagonists (Al and the twins) became who they are -in short, this book will show new characters (Oo, new! As in!)

P. S. I will not anymore tell you what this book’s content are. I’m sure you all know of them already because I have already put it on the chapter of the book I (titled AUTHOR).

P.

P. S. Of course, this will be marked MATURED because of its content.

Super P. S. I hope you’ll enjoy this book.

Lastly, so ayan. As what I have promised, this is my Christmas and New Year’s present to all of you “the PROLOGUE” of Al and the twins’ book two. I do hope that you’ll also do the same thing you did in book one. I hope that you’ll give the love and support in this book, too. That’s all, thank you and enjoy!

TRADE 1

ALVEAR

THE next day came fast. I started my day with eating the foods that mom cooked and after that, I went to my own wash room and took my bath.

Wearing a white shirt that I paired with black jacket and a ripped jeans plus my white rubber shoes, I got out of my room.

I was about to leave when I heard Mama calling me. “Allyson, nak.” I heard her say.

I stopped and looked at her, “yes, Ma?” I asked in a soft tone.

“Aren’t you forgetting some stuff?” She asked and that’s when I checked my pockets.

Damn. I almost forgot my car keys, phone and wallet.

I sighed and smiled at her, “I was about to and thank you for reminding me, Ma.” I said and walked towards her to hug and kiss her both cheeks.

“At least I had my kiss from my only son.” She said while sweetly smiling at me.

“Thanks, Ma. I’ll be leaving, Lily must be angry right now because I’m kind a late.” I sheepishly said.

“But you don’t have a shooting today, right?” Mama asked.

Oh, right.

“Is it Thursday today?” I asked.

Lily and I decided that my Thursday along with my weekend would be our rest days which clearly, I have forgotten.

Mama shook her head, “you’re always like that, even before.” Mama said which caught me off guarded again. “Anyway, you should take your leave.” She added.

“Mama, you don’t have to walk me outside, I can do it on my own?” I said.

Yet again, she shook her head, “I’ll walk you up until the gate, Allyson.” She said, acting childish again.

I sighed and shook my head in defeat. “You won, Ma.” I said.

“I know, right!” She exclaimed.

True enough, Mama walked with me up until we reached the gate of the house. She waited until my service arrived and waved me goodbye when I hopped inside the car.

But I saw something.

She couldn’t possibly hide it, maybe? I saw sadness in her eyes.

And that pains me.

She must badly wants to go home, to the Philippines.

And yet, I couldn’t give that to her.

“Sorry, Ma.” I said after sighing.

“Are you alright, Sir?” My driver asked me.

I looked at him at the mirror and smiled a bit, “yup, I’m good.” I answered, “I want to go somewhere, can we take a detour?” I asked him.

He smiled, “of course, Sir.” He answered and took another route.

After an hour of traveling, we finally arrived at my favorite café.

Lily’s

As you may already know and if not, this café is owned by my personal assistant slash manager, Lily Smith.

She’s very successful and yet she still wants to work.

I don’t really understand this woman. If anything, she’s the workaholic woman I’ve ever known.

“Sir, I’ll just wait here.” My driver said.

“No, you may go back. I’ll just have someone from my condo drive my car here and that’s what I’m gonna use for today.” I said to my driver.

I also was able to buy a condo unit somewhere here. I go there every time I get lazy to even go back home.

He quickly nodded and turned his back at me. I, on the other hand, went inside the café.

“Why are you here!?” Lily, herself, asked me as soon as I entered her café.

I sighed and gave her a bored look, “obviously, I don’t have anywhere to go and anything to do.” I said.

Lily just pouted at me and came to give me a hug. I hugged her back and went straight to my favorite area in this café.

Lily named this area after me.

Alvear

’s

This place was named after me because ever since I met Lily and knew that she owns this café, I always sit here.

This place is actually an extension of the

café

. More likely its veranda.

I like it here because it has an overview of the city. It’s nice during the day and awfully gorgeous at night for you can have a glimpse of the city’s beautiful lights and buildings.

And I’m sure Lily did put only one table and two chairs on purpose because she knew from the start that this place would be my favorite.

“The usual?” Lily asked me after I settled down. I looked at her, smiled and nodded.

And it did happen!

“Okay.” She quickly said, “just a minute, Alvear.” She added and went inside to prepare my order.

Moments later, she came back holding a gray-colored tray that has my order on it.

Mocha latte and a matcha sundae.

Of course the other flavors are also good but these two have been my favorites ever since.

Come to think of it, it’s almost four years now since I first met Lily.

Our meeting happened also at Madam E’s fashion show. Lily is a fan of Madam E’s. She likes fashion very much.

“Here they are, your favorites, dear customer.” Lily jokingly said before putting my order in front of me. After that, she put the tray somewhere and seated across the table.

After the show, the two of us met again at my very first show. She was at the audience and she was crazy because she went straight to me asking for my autograph.

I couldn’t even believe her that time but gave her my autograph any way. After that day, the two of us met countless time until we’ve decided to be friends with each other and so she became my personal assistant slash manager.

“Thank you, Lily.” I said and took a sip of latte and set it aside to start eating my sundae. “So good!” I said as if I’m a child who got his new toy.

“So…” Lily suddenly said, “what is it?” She said, looking at me.

I didn’t say anything and continued on eating my sundae until she gave me this knowing look.

Damn, Lily really knows me well.

Well, of course she does! We’ve been together, as manager and artist, for almost four years now.

“Okay, I’ll tell you. Just let me finish my sundae first, okay?” I said.

She nodded her head, “okay, I’ll just get my coffee and stuff inside.” She answered and stood up to go inside the café again.

I sighed when it was just me.

“How do I even start this?” I asked as if I am talking with someone. “Gosh…” I said in defeat and continued savoring the sundae I have.

True enough, Lily got back after a few minutes holding her favorite mug that I’m sure has espresso in it and her pouches.

She has two pouches, one for her phones and one for her money and cards.

“So, tell me.” She said after sitting across me again.

“Okay.” I said and put my hands on the table.

“So, what are you gonna do about it?” Lily asked me and took a sip of her espresso.

Apparently, I told her about my problem. I told her that I am having a hard time because of Mama’s request.

“You really like that, huh?” I asked.

She nodded, “now, answer my question, Alvear. What are you gonna do?” She asked again.

I sighed, “you’ve been sighing a lot, dear. Do you really not want to go back to that country?” She said.

I really don’t.

“Y-Yes, Lily.” I answered quickly.

“So, what now?” She asked me and shook her head, “that’s a difficult one, Alvear. I wish I could help you but the decision is up to you now. That’s because it’s personal.” She added and had another sip of her espresso.

How could she even drink that crap!? I mean, it tastes awful! I once had a sip because she made me try it and without even a second, I spit what I sipped out. It’s utterly bitter!

I wonder how is she able to drink that!

“I know, Lily but hey, thank you for hearing me out.” I said and smiled at her a bit.

“I wish this matter is as easy as me picking your attire for a shooting.” Lily said and sighed just like me.

“How I wish, too.” I said, sighed and looked away.

Damn, what am I gonna do now?

A/N: And I don’t know if I’ll be able to keep this ‘full English’ chapters for a little bit more. Hahahaha

TRADE 2

ALVEAR

My stay in Lily’s didn’t take long. As soon as I finished my latte, I excused my self and left.

Using my Jaguar, I went to Madam E’s office. It’s located somewhere in Colorado and it didn’t take me long to arrive there because Lily’s was just in New Mexico.

Upon arriving at the office, I gave my key to a vallet attendant and went inside the building.

“Good morning, Alvear. What a surprise!?” Madam E exclaimed when she saw me.

I was able to come with the use of Madam

E’s

elevator.

Yes, she has her own elevator and it’s called Madam E’s, and I was able to use it because I’m Madam E’s model.

And yeah, you have to use an elevator because Madam

E’s

office is located at the 20th floor of the building.

Yes, you heard it right. At the very top of the building.

I smiled at her, “good morning, Madam E.” I greeted back.

“Come, have a seat.” The woman said before she took the telephone and said something.

“Sorry for the intrusion, Madam E.” I said after taking a seat, “I came to tell you something.” I added.

The woman looked at me and sighed, “is that something serious?” She asked and put the telephone back.

I nodded, “I believe so, Madam.” I answered and gave her an awkward smile.

Well, I hope she’ll agree with what I am going to say.

“If that’s the thing, then I believe we must have a lunch first.” The woman said, “who knows, this might be the last?” She added and stood up.

“Can’t we just talk here, Madam?” I asked.

“I’m afraid not, Alvear, dear.” Madam E said, “and for goodness’ sake, let me this time.” She quickly added.

I sighed and smiled, “if that’s what you want, Madam.” I answered and stood up.

She might have been letting me refuse her invitations all this time.

Geez!

The two of us went to this fancy looking restaurant. It was just eleven in the morning and yet, there are lots of people.

Paravicini’s

Italian

Bristo

She immediately went inside and all I could do was to follow her.

The waiter assisted us up until we reached this table located at the very center of the place.

And well, all of the gazes are on us.

Of course, they are seeing the most influential woman in America. Why would they not bother sparing a glance at her, right?

“I’m sorry, this is the nearest place I could think of.” Madam E said after we settled down, “but don’t worry, they have the best food I have ever known.” She added.

“That’s good to know, Madam.” I just said and inspected the place.

It’s full of chandeliers.

This restaurant must be serving expensive dishes. One that Madam E, herself, could afford.

Not that I can’t afford to eat in here, I just don’t want to waste my money just by eating foods that my Mama can always cook for me.

“May I take your order, Ma’am, Sir?” A waitress wearing the usual attire of white long sleeves and black pants with an apron on said.

“Hmm, let me see.” Madam E said while looking at the menu and so I did the same.

Such foods, tsk. Mom’s cooking is better than what they have.

“I’ll have this and this.” Madam E said as she started pointing at the menu, probably lazy enough just to even utter the names of the dish she wants.

“Okay.” The waitress said and looked at me after, “and yours would be?” She asked.

I smiled at her, “thanks for asking, I’ll have Gnocchi Bolognese, Capellini Pomodoro, Chicken Carsoni and Chateau.” I said.

“Oh, and a glass of water please.” I added.

“Very well, it’ll take few minutes. I’ll be back with your foods, Madam, Sir.” The lady said and turned her back on us.

“Thank you.” Madam E said and looked at me. “So, dear, Alvear, what is it that you want to tell me?” She asked.

“Well, Madam E, I want to formally say my goodbye to you.” I answered.

The woman looked at me as if she couldn’t comprehend what I just said.

“What?” She asked.

“I want to say goodbye to you, Madam Ezmeralda.” I repeated. “I know it’s so sudden but I have to leave.” I added.

“But why?” She asked, “you’re just starting to get your name be known.” She added.

I sighed, “it’s my Mom’s request, Madam E and I don’t want to see her lonely.” I said, “you see, she asked me yesterday if I want to go back to the country where I grew up and I saw how she longs for it.” I continued. “Well, it’s hard for me to go back there that’s why I couldn’t answer her that time.” I added.

“So, why the sudden change?” She asked.

“It’s for her, Madam E. I’m sure you understand where I am coming from.” I said, “it’s the thing I, and only I can do to make her happy. I know it’s hard but I will cope up with it just to make her happy.” I explained.

Madam E knows the reason why I came here in America minus the real reason why. I only told her that I have to forget and she didn’t ask anymore of that.

“Excuse me.” We were interrupted by a voice and when I looked at where that came, it was the waitress.

With her was a server, we leaned back to let her put the plates that has the foods we order on the table.

It didn’t take her long before she left again after saying, “enjoy.”

“So, can I not stop you?” Madam E asked.

“This time, I’m afraid you cannot, Madam E.” I answered.

The woman closed her eyes and nodded, “well, it has been great working with you.” She said and that was the moment where I know, she’s letting me go. “I’m sure you’ll be missed, by the media, by the working team and most especially by me.” She added.

“And I’m so sorry for that, Madam Ezmeralda.” I apologetically said.

Madam E quickly shook her head, “no, no. Don’t apologize, Alvear. My door is always open anytime if you want to come back. I won’t let others have you as their model, you know.” She said, jokingly.

“I’ll put that in mind.” I just said.

“Well, shall we eat?” She asked.

I nodded, “yes.” I said.

The two of us chatted for how many hours and to my surprise, the woman was not that bad to talk with.

I think I judged her quickly.

“Well, it was a pleasure having a lunch with you.” I said when the two of us got outside the place.

“Are you sure you want to leave?” She asked for the nth time.

“I’m sure, Madam E.” I firmly said.

“Well, if that’s the case, goodbye Alvear, my dear. I wish that you’ll be happy there.” She said.

“I’ll make sure I will. Thank you, Madam E.” I said.

The woman smiled and kissed my cheek before she entered her car. I waved her goodbye and after that, I went to my jaguar.

“Time to go home.” I said and started the engine.

AFTER an hour, I was able to arrive at our house. I immediately went inside the house just to see my Mom and Dad talking.

“Hey, there parents!” I greeted the two of them.

“Hi, son.” My father said.

“You’re home early, dad. What’s up?” I asked Dad.

Usually, he would be home at exactly seven in the evening.

“Well, we had to talk about something.” Dad answered and looked at Mom.

It’s probably about going back to the Philippines.

“We decided to just stay here, nak.” Mom said.

“About that…” I said and seated at the sofa across them. “I’ll go.” I added.

Mom couldn’t suppress how shocked she was, “what?” She asked, “did I hear you right?” She added.

I nodded, “yes, Ma. For you, I’ll go back to the Philippines.” I said.

“Oh my gee!” Mom exclaimed and went near me and hugged me. “Thank you, Allyson. Thank you, nak.” She said.

I just smiled and looked at my Dad who’s smiling at us. He nodded at me and I did the same before hugging Mama back.

For you, Mom. For you, I will go back to the place that I have been trying to forget.

A/N: Ayan na, the COME BACK is real!

I haven’t been to American, you know. Just deal with it for now, hahaha.

TRADE 3

ALVEAR

After the day where I told my parents that I would go back to the Philippines with them, we stayed for three more days in America until this day.

Yes, today is the day that I’ll be going back to the place I left five years ago.

“Allyson, nak.” Mama said and I looked at her.

Right now, we’re at the airport, sitting at the benches waiting for our flight to be called.

Dad is also coming with us today but he’s not here because he’s busy checking our luggage.

You wouldn’t believe it but I have brought all of my stuff and that’s what exactly Mama did, too.

“Yes, Ma?” I said, looking at her.

“Are you sure about this?” She asked.

I looked at her and went silent for a bit, thinking hard if I really want to go back but I smiled and nodded.

I am here, what else can I do? And besides, I did this for Mama. There’s no turning back.

Yesterday, I went to Lily’s again and bid my goodbye to Lily.

As expected, Lily cried in front of me and hugged me for like an hour and finally accepted my decision saying that I’m strong enough to have decided to go back.

I also bid my goodbye to the people I have been with at all my photo shoot. The A team, my team who’s been assisting me at my pictorials and fashion show.

I will surely miss all of them.

I left my cars under Lily’s care and as per the house and my condo unit, Dad left them under his most trusted associate.

We had pretty much all taken cared before today came so I need not worry anymore.

“Of course, Ma.” I answered, “don’t worry about me. I’m sure and ready.” I added.

Am I, really?

“Thank you.” Mama said and held my hand.

“No need to thank me, Ma.” I said smiling.

Mama just smiled and tightened her grip.

“That’s our flight.” Dad said and true enough, I’ve heard a voice saying our flight’s informations.

“Let’s go?” Mama asked and I nodded.

But before walking, I spared one glance at the place.

Goodbye, America.

“Shall we?” I said and both my Mom and Dad nodded at me.

We then started to walk with my Mama holding Dad’s hand.

“Hooo.” I sighed.

“Please turn off all of your devices as the plain is about to take off.” The flight attendant reminded us.

“You should sleep, nak. The flight is a bit long.” Mama said.

I don’t think I can sleep.

“You sleep first, Ma.” I said.

Mama just nodded before she put on her neck pillow and eye mask. Beside her was my Dad who’s been asleep after we settled to our seats.

Dad must have been tired because for the past three days, he finished all of the works and documents he needed to do.

And I can’t blame him if he fell asleep that fast —as soon as we took our seats.

“I should sleep, too.” I said after looking at both of them.

But the thing is, I don’t know if I’ll be able to sleep.

Yeah, I can’t.

“Geez!” I said and leaned back on my seat.

AFTER 17 LONG HOURS

“Oh my gosh! We’re back! We are!” Mama exclaimed immediately after we got outside the NAIA airport.

We have arrived at around eight in the evening here in Manila.

And I couldn’t believe that I am in the Philippines again. Seeing the crowded place, full of different people.

Some are waiting and some, just like me and my family, arrived.

“Dad, nandito na tayo!” Mama said again, looking jolly and excited. She even tagged Dad’s clothe without her knowing it.

“Yes, Ma. Nandito na nga tayo.” My Dad said and smiled at my Mom.

My eyes went wide after hearing him talk in tagalog.

Did Papa exercise his Tagalog in America to even sound as if he was just in the Philippines and never went abroad?

“Allyson, nak. Nasa Pilipinas na tayo, gosh! Na-miss ko ang klima dito!” Mama happily said to me, “and nak, dapat niyan tagalog ka na ulit, okay?” She added.

And now she wants me to speak in Tagalog, too.

“Y-Yes, Ma.” I said.

“Pero ang init, nasaan na ba yung service natin, Pa?” Mama asked Dad which made me laugh.

“Oh, akala ko ba na-miss mo ang klima dito?” Dad asked Mama while laughing, too.

“Ay, oo naman but Pa, ang init na. Sobra, siguro dahil ang tagal din natin sa America, kaya nasaan na ba ang service at nang makasakay na tayo?” Mama said in defense.

“Ma?” I said.

Mama looked at me, “yes, anak?” She asked.

“When are we going to live? Are we living there again?” I asked, referring to our old house.

Mama smiled at me and patted my shoulder, “no, Allyson. Your Dad and I have bought a new house and lot. Paano kasi, napagpasyahan ko nang ipagbili yung dati because I know that, that place has a lot of memories.” Mama explained.

Indeed, it has.

“O-Okay.” I said.

Mama just smiled at me and hugged Dad after that. “Don’t worry, nak.” Dad said, smiling at me.

I just nodded at them and smiled, too.

I’m lucky I have them.

“Oh, ayan na pala ang service.” Dad said after waiting for a couple of minutes.

It was a van, a black colored van.

“Tara, dali!” Mama said in hurry, probably because it’s getting late already.

“Sige na, nak. Una na kayo ni Mama mo at magbubuhat din ako ng mga gamit natin.” Dad said.

“I can help.” I said.

Dad shook his head, “will you let your Mama alone inside the van?” Dad asked.

“But that’s a lot of luggage.” I insisted.

“Allyson Alvear Cruz?” Dad said and that’s when I raised my right hand in defeat.

“Okay, okay.” I said and went to the van and hopped in.

“So, nak. How are you feeling?” Mama asked me as soon as I settled myself inside the van.

She even fixed something above her, it might be the air conditioning of the van.

I looked at her, “I’m feeling great, Ma. Why?” I said.

She shook her head and smiled a bit, “wala lang, I’m just asking.” She said meaningfully.

“Ma, really. I’m feeling great, you don’t have to worry about me.” I assured her.

“Okay.” Mama just said but then, she looked at me, “pero magtagalog ka.” She added.

“Oo, Ma.” I said in defeat.

The two of us remained silent and waited another couple of minutes as Dad and the driver put all of our luggage at the back part of the van.

Moments later, Dad and the driver finished putting our stuff and settled down by seating at the driver and passenger’s seat of the van.

“Let’s go home!” Mama shouted and we started laughing before the driver finally started the engine.

After travelling for long hours, we have arrived in front of a huge silver gate.

I watched how it opened automatically and showed the front of what seemed to be our new house.

Wow!

“This is a lot huge than our previous one, parents!” I exclaimed.

“Yes, nak.” Mama and Dad proudly said.

As soon as the van stopped, I immediately stepped out of it to have a better look at the house.

“Damn.” I cussed unconsciously.

“Well?” I heard Mama saying.

I turned and looked at her, “this is too much for a house, Ma.” I said in awe.

That’s when Dad came and hugged Mama, “well, this is my and your Dad’s dream house. We thought of it at tyaka bumili na din naman kami ng lupa kaya bakit hindi yung dream house pa ang ipagawa, ’di ba?” Mama said.

“Geez!” I said and shook my head and looked at our house again.

And at my back, I heard the two of them saying, “welcome home, anak.”

Welcome home, Allyson

Alvear

Cruz.

You’re back in the Philippines again.

Welcome home ba talaga, Alvear?

A/N: Hi sa mga nag-aabang dyan! Hihi

Yes,

nasa

Pilipinas

na

nga

kami at hindi ito

panaginip

.

This is actually the second day at madami parin akong naka-unpacked na mga gamit dahil ako lang talaga ang may maraming gamit.

Mama and Dad insisted on helping me unpacking my stuff but I refused, telling them that I can handle the unpacking myself.

Mama and Dad invested their money in a good way.

But what I actually like is that, wala

nang

gagawin

or

ipapaayos

pa.

Magaling

ang

mga

katiwala

at

kasambahay

na

dinatnan

namin

.

“Hindi na muna, Ma. Maybe next time.”

My room is upstairs, while my parents’ is downstairs. I don’t get the idea.

Pwede naman kasing pareho nalang na nasa taas ang mga kwarto namin or sa baba but that’s the way how they wanted it kaya wala na akong nagawa.

Nag-isip naman ako ng pwede kong ipabili. “Ma, buy me pizza from greenwich, burger and chicken joy from jollibee, fries and sundae from Mcdo.” Sabi ko na ikinatawa ni Mama.

“Why are you laughing?” Tanong ko na nagpa-iling sa kanya.

“Wala, nak. Ang dami naman kasi ng gusto mo. Mauubos mo naman ba ang lahat ng yun?” Sabi niya sa akin.

The house or mansion, I should say,

dahil

sa

laki

nito

ay may

sampung

kwarto

.

“Yes, Ma. Actually, miss ko lang ang mga yun kaya pinapabili and I swear, kapag nasa harapan ko na lahat, mauubos ko yun.” Sagot ko.

Tumango nalang si Mama sa akin, “osige, nak. Lalabas na ako, kanina pa naghihintay ang Dad mo.” Paalam niya.

The house has also two verandas, one in front of the house and the other one is located on the left side of it.

The landscape is also good. When I asked Mama kung sino ang nagmando sa mga taong gumawa nito, she told me na siya daw.

And it’s awesome! There are lots of flowers and it has this grotto at the center that is surrounded by this artificial pond filled with pebbles and fishes.

“Take care, you two.” Sabi ko sa kanya.

“We will. Kung may kailangan ka, andyan ang mga kasambahay natin. Magsabi ka lang sa kanila.” Dagdag ni Mama na tinanguan ko bago siya naglakad palabas.

Matapos nun ay bumalik ako sa pagse-surf sa internet.

It’s all about fashion world and industry, of course.

Madam E and Lily messaged me pala, kaso hindi ko nakita dahil nasa bag ko all throughout ng byahe ang phone ko at halos ngayon ko lang ito nabuksan.

Lily:

Take care,

Alvear

. I’ll surely miss you. Don’t worry, I’ll look through your stuff from time to time. Take care.

I almost cried after reading her message for me. Magda-dalawang araw palang, ganito na ako. Paano pa kaya kapag matagal na?

I sighed and scrolled the screen of my phone up to read the other message. Galing naman iyon kay Madam E.

Madam

Ezmeralda

:

I still can’t believe that we parted. I’ll surely miss you, my dear. The fashion world is always open for you, and of course, my company. Take care and don’t stress yourself. We’ll surely meet again.

I sighed again after reading Madam E’s message for me.

“Ugh! I miss them already!”

“Geez!” I exclaimed and took my phone. Just when I was about to turn it off, I was able to see something.

Something that I should have not seen in the first place…

It was a post about the Alvez twins.

And the thing that really caught my attention are the

words

above their photo.

GETTING MARRIED…

Wait, what’s this?

. . .

“Nak! We’re back!” Dinig kong sigaw ni Mama. It was already four in the afternoon when they came back.

Nagawa

ko na ding i-unpack at

ayusin

ang

dalawa

sa

lima kong

dalang

maleta

.

Kaagad naman akong bumaba dahil nasa second floor ako.

I immediately kissed Mama on her cheeks bago siya ngumiti sa akin, “look what do I have here!” Masayang sabi niya bago niya itaas ang hawak niyang maraming paper bags and as well as plastic bags.

Dang! Mama really bought all of what I said.

“You the best, Ma!”

Fruits and vegetables, maybe?

“Here, Al. I bought this for you.”

“Wala, I just felt like buying it kanina.”

“How was your time together, Ma?”

Napaka

laking

mesa, at that.

“Wala, pareho lang naman gaya nung nasa abroad pa tayo.” Sagot niya bago niya i-usog ang upuan at umupo dun, “namasyal pa kami kaya kami nagtagal, sorry nak.” Dagdag niya.

Nginitian ko naman siya, “no worries, Mama.” Sabi ko.

“What is this?”

What is the meaning of this!?

“Ang weird talaga ni Papa. Bakit niya ako binilhan nito?” Tanong ko kay Mama.

But then, natigilan ako nang makita kong matamang nakatingin sa akin si Mama.

Don’t tell me…

“Ma, what’s that look?” Tanong ko sa kanya, “and why did Papa buy this for me?” Tanong ko pa.

Don’t tell me they know

that

too?

“E-Ewan sa Papa mo. Weird nga niya, no?” Tila hindi siguradong sagot niya sa akin. Napa buntong hinga ako at kiming ngumiti sa kanya.

“I’m okay, Ma.”

Lumungkot

ang

mga

mata ni Mama.

“I have actually read the article accidentally.” Dagdag ko.

A/N: Read it if you want to, bahala na kayo. Nang-asar lang me, sorryyyy.

“Allyson…”

ALVEAR

“Anyway, thank you for buying these, Ma.”

“I’m gonna eat these in my room.”

Have I mentioned it already?

“It’s not that I’m really hurt because of that news.”

I immediately took one of the slices and ate it.

Did my parents actually think that I’d be hurt?

I smiled at the thought.

“As if I will.”

But how are the two of them now?

“Ugh! Why would you ask that, Allyson?”

I grabbed the box of pizza and the cup of soda bago ako maglakad palabas ng kwarto ko.

Mamaya

ko na

uubusin

ang

iba

.

“Oh, anak.” Naabutan ko siya sa kusina, I think she’s preparing the ingredients.

“What are you going to cook, Ma?”

It also has a sink, plus some of the kitchen tools.

“I won’t cook, your Dad will.

Tanong niya.

“Maglilibot po sana?” Sagot ko.

Umiling sa akin si Mama, “no. Baka maligaw ka pa.” Sabi niya.

I sighed, “Ma, I want some distractions and I think, I need to buy some clothes.”

I sighed again, “bukas ka nalang umalis, I will ask the driver na i-tour ka muna para makabisado mo ang daan and after that, pwede ka nang mag-drive.”

“Okay, Ma.” Sabi ko nalang. Tumango naman siya sa akin.

Tomorrow came fast and I am inside our van, waiting for our family driver.

And I find this important kasi,

matagal

din

akong

nawala

sa

Pilipinas

.

“Good morning po, Sir. Ako po ang magg-guide sa inyo.” Sabi ng isang binata matapos nitong sumakay sa van.

Kaagad naman akong natulala, bakit parang masyado siyang bata?

Don’t get me wrong, I was just shocked.

Usually, the drivers in the Philippines —not that I’m judging— are old. Pero this one, iba siya.

Bata pa siya, and if I’m not mistaken, halos kasing edaran ko lang siya.

“G-Good morning, I’m Alvear.”

“May gusto ho ba kayong puntahan? Para habang itinuturo ko po ang daan ay mapuntahan din po ninyo ang gusto niyong puntahan.” Tanong nito sa akin.

“Don’t say ‘po’ to me, Carlo. I’m sure naman halos magka edad lang tayo.” Halos mataray ang tonong sabi ko, kaagad ko namang na-realize yun kung kaya’t sinegundahan ko, “don’t get me wrong, medyo awkward lang na nagpapa-po sa akin yung ka-edaran ko, even though saying ‘po’ is sign of respect.” Paliwanag ko.

“J-Just call me Sir or Alvear. Either of the two.” Dagdag ko.

“Okay, Sir Alvear!” Masayang sabi naman nito, not bothered by what I said.

I sighed, “okay, let’s go. I want to go to the mall first.” Sabi ko naman sa kanya. “Will it take long? I mean, the trip. Matagal ba?”

Sagot nito.

“Put on your seat belt, don’t forget.” Paalala nito na siya namang ginawa ko.

Matapos nun ay umandar na ang van.

I hope this trip would make me feel relaxed.

IT TOOK us half an hour to arrive at the mall. When Carlo parked the van, kaagad kong inalis ang seat belt ko at binuksan ang pinto ng van upang bumaba.

“Carlo, hintayin mo nalang ako dito. I’ll just buy some stuff for me.” Utos ko na siya namang tinanguan niya.

Seeing that, I immediately turned my back against him para pumasok sa mall.

That would serve as my list.

“Let’s grab some sweets.”

It was ice cream.

SAMANTALA

“WHO the hell created that news!?”

A/N: Ayan naaaaaaaaaaa!

TRADE 6

CONAN

“WHO THE HELL CREATED THAT NEWS!?”

“We don’t know yet, Sir.” Sagot ng kausap ko.

“You don’t know yet, what an answer! Piece of useless shit!”

After that, I immediately pressed a button on my telephone. “Yes, Mr. Alvez.” Sagot ng tao sa kabilang linya.

“Call my fucking brother and tell him to come here immediately.”

magkakaganyan

ang

hitsura

kung

magkaroon

ng

balita

tungkol

sa

kanya

na hindi naman

totoo

?

“Do you know who it was?”

Mataman ko siyang tinignan, “I don’t have any idea who the fucking hell it was.” Seryosong sagot ko.

“Fuck.”

Whoever made this false news will pay for it, big time.

“This must have an end. Ayaw kong pinagpe-pyestahan tayo.” “Will you please stop walking?! You’re irritating to look at to.” Dagdag ko.

My twin looked at me agitated, “I might have an idea about the only person who created this mess.”

“And who’s on your mind?”

Sagot niya.

“And why do you think so?” Tanong ko ulit sa kanya.

“You might not notice it but Mom has been eager to make us marry someone lately.” Sagot niya sa akin, “she’s been secretly talking with some people whom I think have connection with her, if it wasn’t about wedding, I don’t have any idea what are they talking about when they meet.” Paliwanang niya sa akin.

“It might be something about business, brother.”

“I know all the people she’s talking with when it comes to business.” Sabi niya.

“And I’m sure that you all know them because we’re the ones who’re managing the companies now.” Dagdag niya, “unlike the ones she’s talking secretly, hindi ko sila kilala and I had my research, and guess what I found out.” Paputol na sabi niya sa akin.

“Just get to the point.” Inis na sabi ko.

“Mom… Well, lagi siyang nakikipagkita sa iba’t ibang pamilya. Mga sikat, prominente at kilala.” Sagot niya, “I don’t know why Mom would talk to them. We don’t need any more connection at mas lalong hindi natin kailangan ng magiging share holders para sa business.” Patuloy niya.

“At ang pagpapakasal ang sa tingin mo ang dahilan dun?” Tanong ko sa kanya.

“What else kung hindi yun?” Tanong niya sa akin. Doon ako napa isip.

He’s right.

The business is going well at hindi na namin kailangan ng mga ka-sosyo dito.

And why would Mom meet with them secretly?

“I just can’t believe that Mom would do something like this.” Sabi ko sa kambal ko, “I —we know her, she would never do something like this.” Dagdag ko.

“I’ve been thinking about that, too that’s why I can’t still believe what I am telling to you.” Sabi naman niya sa akin.

“Then we must find it out ourselves.” Sabat ko.

That’s the only way to confirm if Mom is the one responsible for this mess.

“Mom?” I called my mother as soon as I entered the house, only to be greeted by the maids.

“Good evening, Sir.” Bati ng mga ito sa akin.

“Where’s Mom?” I asked, not even greeting them back.

“Umalis po siya, Sir Conan.” Sagot ng isa sa mga ito sa akin kaya napatingin ako sa kanya.

“And where did she go?” I asked again.

“Wala po siyang nabanggit, Sir. Basta nalang po siyang nagpahatid sa isa sa mga drivers.” Sagot nito sa akin.

Damn it.

“Was she in a hurry?” Tanong ko. Hindi nakasagot ang mga ito, “tsk. Forget it.”

And where did she go? Gabi na.

“Hello?” Sabi ko nang masagot ko ang tawag. “Connor, Mom is not here.” Sabi ko sa kapatid ko.

“And where is she?” Tanong nito sa akin.

“I don’t have any idea.” Sagot ko.

“Let’s meet at the mall, I’ll check on her

sa

mga

lugar na alam kong

pinupuntahan

niya.“ Sabi nito sa akin.

“Okay, I’ll do that too.” I said before hanging out the call and putting my phone inside my pants’ pocket.

“Why don’t we start at the biggest place in here?”

To the mall.

SAMANTALA

“What else?”

“Oh, I’m hungry.”

I’m gonna buy something for him nalang.”

binatang

si

Conan.

A/N: Alvear is pronounced as AL-VEAR

TRADE 7

Conan Andrew

Alvez

I MUST BE SEEING SOMETHING.

This can’t be true, right?

But who the hell is this man am I seeing right now?

“This is fucking ridiculous.” I said as I am looking at the familiar figure far from where I am standing right now.

The reason why I came here at the mall is to look for my mom but instead of seeing my mom, I’ve seen someone else.

I must be imagining things.

Hindi siya pwedeng nandito sa Pilipinas.

He’s gone.

He went somewhere far, away from us.

“I still remember that day vividly.” I said as I recall that fateful day.

[Start of flashback]

A month after that day, I decided to go to Allyson’s house to check on him.

After all, I of all the people know that he’s not okay. He’s far from okay.

Hours later, I was able to arrive in front of their house just to see someone unfamiliar closing the gates of their house.

I quickly ran towards that person to ask if Allyson is in there. But I was shocked when the person said that they already went to the airport.

Shock enveloped my whole body.

Why would they go there?

“Shit!” I said and ran back to my car and immediately started it. I did what I could and I drove as fast as I could to the airport.

I could not even bother my surroundings, not minding if I might bump into other cars because I kept thinking of Allyson and the reason why they went to the airport…

Kahit

na alam ko na ang

sagot

.

An hour later, I was inside the airport looking them.

Lakad-takbo ang ginawa ko, not minding people looking at me as I am in a hurry, like a child lost somewhere.

But I didn’t manage to find them.

They were already gone.

[End of flashback]

“He can’t be here, he’s… Shit!”

I have this feeling again.

Is he really back?

“He’s changed a lot.” I whispered as I am slowly walking towards him.

His soft features are still there but the sign of maturity is evident.

“Shit…”

He’s become more beautiful.

“Wag mo na akong tawaging Sir ulit,  okay?” Dinig kong sabi niya sa kausap niya.

Damn that voice.

He’s here.

“Opo—I mean, oo. Sige, Alvear.” Sagot ng kausap niya.

So he’s using his second given name now?

“Okay, let’s go. I’m sure naghihintay na sina Mama.” Sabi niya bago siya sumakay.

Damn, how long has it been already? How long have I missed you?

“Okay, Alvear.” Tugon muli ng kasama niya.

I was about to call his attention when suddenly, my phone rung.

Fuck.

Kaagad akong napa upo at napa sandal sa may kotseng malapit sa akin.

Kaagad kong kinuha ang phone ko at tinignan iyon to see that it was my fucking brother.

Damn it, Connor.

“WHAT?” I angrily asked.

“Come back home.” He said.

“What? Why?” I asked again.

“Mom’s here… and she’s with someone.” He seriously said and that made my heart pound.

AFTER an hour, I was able to go back home and I was shocked when I saw who it was Connor talking about.

Allyson’s mom.

She was talking with Mom when I arrived and when she noticed my presence, she looked at me and smiled as if nothing had happened.

She should not be acting this way.

She shouldn’t because she knew

it.

ALVEAR

“Ma?” I said, after getting inside our home.

Halos isang oras din ang tinagal ng byahe dahil sa traffic plus may mga ilang shop pa akong pinuntahan along the way.

“Ma?” Muling tawag ko after telling the maids to put the shopping bags on the couch.

But no one answered my call. Kaagaf akong napakunot ng kilay.

Nasaan

ba

si

Mama?

“Yaya, where’s Ma?”

“Saan nagpunta?” I asked again.

“Hindi po nagsabi, Sir.” Sagot nito sa akin bago nagpaalam at umalis.

Kaagad ko namang kinuha ang phone ko at lumapit sa mga binili ko upang kunin ang binili kong pizza.

I love pizza, I know.

After making myself comfortable, kaagad ko ni-dial ang number ni Mama and took a bite of my pizza.

After a minute, Mama answered.

“Yes, Allyson?” She said on the phone.

“Ma, san ka?” Tanong ko habang kumakain.

“At my friend’s house, why?” Sabi niya.

“Nakabalik na ako sa house, I thought you’d like pizza, bumili pa naman ako.” Sabi ko.

“Aww, sorry. I forgot to tell you na

pupunta

ako

sa

mga

Alvez

Did I hear her correctly?

“Come again?” I said while running slowly towards the fridge to get a bottle of water.

“I said I forgot to tell you na

Alvez

. Why?“ Tanong niya.

“Shit!” Hindi ko sadyang mura.

“What did you just say, young man?” May seryosong tono na tanong ni Mama.

“Sorry, Ma. I’m hanging up.” Sabi ko bago ko patayin ang call.

Why would she go there?

“Is my Mom crazy!?” I hysterically said.

Is she forgetting something!?

Samantha Cruz

“Was that your son?” Amanda asked after putting the glass of wine back on the table.

Amanda

Alvez

is the mother of the twins.

“Oh,” I said while turning the phone off and faced her. “Yes, he just asked where am I.” Dagdag ko.

You’re right, I’m inside the Cruz’s turf.

“How’s life?” Amanda asked.

I smiled, “it still is good, Amanda.” I answered and looked at her.

Suddenly, she stood and hugged me to my surprise. “I missed you so much.” She said while hugging me.

“I missed you, too.”

It’s been years since we last saw each other.

“Enough of the drama na, ano ka ba.” Sabi ko bago ako kumalas sa yakap. Umupo naman siya ulit.

“Anyway, I’m just glad and surprised to see you back. Kailan ka pa bumalik?” Tanong niya.

Umiling lang ako, “that’s not important. Why I came here is what’s important.” Sagot ko.

“If you say so, Samantha. May I know what you came here for then?” Tanong niyang muli.

And that’s when I became serious. “I came here for the twins.” I answered, she became serious too.

“May I ask why?” Asked, she.

“For my son, Allyson.” I directly said while looking her in her eyes.

“I came here to resolve and end everything that should’ve ended back then.” I added.

“Is that so…” She said while looking st me with the same intensity.

I nodded.

It’s time.

“Okay.” Amanda said after a long sigh, “they’re just in time.” She added after looking at my back.

That’s when I slowly turned my head at my back just to see the people whom I went here for.

The twins: Conan and Connor.

It’s time to settle everything on my son’s behalf.

A/N: Para sa mga nag-aabang dyan. Heto na, para sa inyo ’to. Enjoy!

TRADE 8

Samantha Cruz

“Good evening, Tita.”

Sumunod

sa

kanya

ang

kambal

niya na

pareho

din ang

ginawa

.

“What brought you here, Tita? It’s been a long time.” Tanong ni Connor.

I suppose that’s what they’re going to say.

Ngumiti ako sa dalawang binata, “indeed. It’s been such a long time since we last saw and talked with each other.” Sambit ko sa kanila, “why don’t you sit first?” I offered.

Suddenly, the atmosphere became serious.

“Well, it’s good to see the two of you, Conan and Connor.” Muling sabi ko, “I came here to discuss something with you and I want your mother to be here just so there could be transparency and so there’s a witness.” Dagdag ko bago ako dumekwatro.

“Discuss about what, Tita?” Seryosong tanong sa akin ni Conan.

“Very well, then.” Sabi ko, “I came here to tell you that my family is back in the Philippines.” Panimula ko, “me, my husband together with our only son.”

“And since we’re here again, it’s just a matter of time that the three of you will cross each other’s paths.”

“And what do want to tell us then, Samantha?” Amanda asked.

I don’t want what happened long ago to happen again; I don’t want my son, Allyson, to be hurt again.” Tuloy-tuloy na sabi ko.

“And what if it happens again?” Tanong ni Connor.

“I expected that question, Connor.” Sagot ko, “I won’t let it happen, that’s why I came here in your house.” Dagdag ko.

“I came here to tell you two, Conan and Connor, not to go near my son ever again.” Seryosong sabi ko habang nakatitig sa kambal.

“I am a mother and I know that Amanda will understand my sentiments, I don’t want Allyson being hurt just because of the two of you again.”

“Matatanda na kayo, and I’m sure that you do understand the point where this conversation is going to: don’t ever go near my son.” Sabi ko bago ako tumayo.

“I hope we understand each other.”

“I said what I came here for, it’s time for me to leave.” Paalam ko, “good bye, Alvez family.”

I hope that my decision is for the best.

Connor Alfred

Alvez

Tita

Samantha wants the two of us not to go near her son again.

“And I hope that you understand her side, my sons.”

“No!”

“Did you just raise your voice against me, young man?” Tanong ni Mama.

“I can’t do what she’s asking us to do. You know that, Mom.”

“Samantha just did the right thing, keeping his son from the same pain.” Mama continued, “the best way for that to happen is the two of you not going near him again. Even if you want to.” Patuloy niya.

But how can we do that?

How will

I

do that?

Ngayon pa na…

ALVEAR

“Sir, nandyan na po ang Mama niyo.” Pagbibigay alam sa akin ng isa sa mga kasambahay. Kaagad akong tumayo at dumeretso sa sala.

Jesus!

“Ma!”

She looks relaxed.

“Oh, dear. Naka kain ka na ba?” Patay malisyang tanong niya sa akin.

“Ma!”

Sabi niya bago tumayo at lapitan ako. “Anak, listen to me. I came to them myself just so I could clarify things with them.” Sabi niya.

“I am a mother and a mother will never want her child to feel pain, not even for once. Nasaktan kana dahil sa kanila and I don’t want you to go through the same pain anymore, not again!” Sabi niya pa matapos niya akong lapitan.

“But you should have not gone there. Dapat hindi mo nalang sila pinuntahan!” Inis na sabi ko.

“And what do you want to happen!?” Sigaw niya sa akin, “meet them and then remember what they have caused you years ago!?” Tanong niya.

“Ma!” Sabi ko sa kanya, “I understand where you’re coming from but what you did is unnecessary because I have no plan in meeting them again.” Paliwanag ko.

Umiling nang mabilis ang Mama, “you cannot do that anymore, Allyson. Our families will work together from now on.” Dagdag niya na ikinagulat ko.

“W-What do you mean?” I asked her.

“Our company just expanded and we needed more partnership and their family is one of our partners now.” Sagot niya sa akin, “you cannot avoid them anymore, Allyson.” Dagdag pa niya.

“Why are you just telling me that now?” Tanong ko sa kanya.

“Because I knew that you would do everything to avoid them, anak.” Sabi niya sa akin at muling umupo. “Your father needs you in the company.” Sabi niya na mas ikinagulat ko.

Ang

ibig

ba

niyang

sabihin

ay

nagsinungaling

siya

sa

akin?

“Did you lie to me para maka uwi ako?” Huh, Ma?” Tanong ko.

“No, anak.” Sagot niya.

“Then what!?” I have forgotten everything about the past kasi ayos na ako dun, Ma! I have work, friends and life back there!” Dagdag ko at hindi naiwasang maiyak.

“I did not lie when I said na gusto ko ng umuwi dahil namimiss ko na dito, Allyson. That was one of the reasons why I wanted to come back here.” Sagot niya.

“Then bakit ngayon niyo lang ito sinabi!?” Inis na tanong ko. “Para ba sumama ako at hindi makatanggi sa inyo!? Yun ba?” Tanong ko.

Umiling sa akin si Mama na umiiyak na din, “Anak, you should understand.” Sabi niya pero iling lang ang ginagawa ko, “We are doing this for you, for the company and for our family.” Dagdag niya.

“Anak…”

“No, Ma.” I said, “I can’t believe you lied to me.” Sabi ko, “out of all people, I never expected you to do this.” Dagdag ko at walang abog ko siyang iniwan kahit umiiyak.

Fuck!

A/N: I just wanted to tease you but I’m not officially back

yet.
